DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE Director Shawn Levy Says He'd Love To Helm A DEADPOOL & SPIDER-MAN Movie

The Merc With a Mouth will join forces with Logan in Shawn Levy's Deadpool and Wolverine, but the filmmaker has his eye on a possible team-up with Spider-Man down the line...

Wade Wilson has teamed up with quite a few different characters in the comics over the years, and almost every single one of them has regretted it to some extent!

In Marvel Studios' upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine, director Shawn Levy wisely chose to tap in to the Odd Couple energy that comes with the Merc With a Mouth and Logan joining forces, but there is another Marvel superhero the filmmaker would love to see Wade encounter on the big screen at some point.

"The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity," Levy tells Games Radar. "But, boy, I'd sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That's a movie I'd love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else."

If D&W is a success (and box office tracking is looking pretty good), Levy might well get the opportunity to make a Deadpool and Spider-Man movie, although Disney may be a little less willing to throw Holland's take on Peter Parker into an R-rated adventure!

Producer Wendy Jacobson was also asked who she'd most like to see Deadpool team-up with, and somewhat randomly, chose She-Hulk: Attorney at Law villain Titania (Jameela Jamil).

"She's such a heightened, hilarious character and also an actor who can improv and is razor-sharp and can banter," she explained. "I can't imagine being an actor, period, but I can't imagine having to work opposite someone like Ryan Reynolds, who is just so quick and so smart and so funny all the time – but that woman could handle it."

The MPAA recently gave the movie an official R-rating for: "Strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore, and sexual references."

“Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date - Deadpool & Wolverine," reads the new synopsis. "A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier... reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to - F*ck. Synopses are so f*cking stupid.”

In addition to Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the title roles, Deadpool and Wolverine will see Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who will play a TV agent and Charles Xavier's evil counterpart, Cassandra Nova.

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool and Wolverine from a script by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.

The movie is set to open in U.S. & Canadian theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.

@bobevanz - lol...FACTS!

you know, if we were talking about a real director like David Fincher, like yeah, you feel me, that's David Fincher! The Big Fiiiiiinch. But the nikka who directed Free Guy? Boi, sit your ass down.

still can't get over the fact that this new Deadpool and Wolverine movie looks like a fkn Toyota Camry commercial, and now he wants Spiderman too?? NAH!

@WruceBayne - Free Guy is a movie that should've come out in 2007. That movie is DECADES late.

@HappyMan1 - 14 years = decades
HappyMan1
HappyMan1 - 6/18/2024, 12:19 PM
@ObserverIO - First of all, a decade is a period of 10 years.

I said it's "DECADES" late (plural), as in, if it would've come out BEFORE 2007 it would've been ahead of its time.

It came out in 2021. Do you understand?
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 6/18/2024, 12:39 PM
@HappyMan1 - Second of all "DECADES" is a period of at least 20 years.

So if it came out in 2007 it would have only come out 1 decade and 4 years earlier than 2021. Not decades earlier.

Now if it came out "BEFORE 2007" that would be decades, but it would have to be no less than 6 years before.

I understand. Do you?

HappyMan1 - 6/18/2024, 4:47 PM
@ObserverIO - Is your reading comprehension low, or are you just stupid?

You think you're smart but you're a blatant imbecile. And now you wanna backtrack like you didn't outright say that a decade = 14 years. Lol

Suck a cok, clown
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 6/18/2024, 5:53 PM
@HappyMan1 - I didn't say that a decade = 14 years, I said "14 years = decades". It was sarcasm, because you described the 14 year period between when you said Free Guy should have come out (2007) and when it did come out (2021) as 'decades'.

I don’t need it as it’s own movie but it could be fun having them interact in a big crossover , there’s definitely precedent for it…

Would be funny too since this Spidey is younger then the one Wade interacts with in the comics so I can see him making real inappropriate jokes like the one above being said and him backtracking by making another quip.

Look, we all know Tom Holland was genetically engineered to be 15 forever. Deadpool is too inappropriate for him.

But seriously, I have 8th graders at my school that look older than him.

@HappyMan1 - Celebrities overshare because of social media. I prefer the ones who barely post, show up for an event or screening, then go home. Zendaya is pretty good at that.

I'm sure people would love it. I don't know that I think Holland is the right Spidey for it, though. I feel like Reynolds would have better chemistry with Garfield or Maguire.

Rated R.

Izaizaiza - 6/17/2024, 7:12 PM
@IronSpider101 - Man, I got to disgroup you on that point. Each Spidey actor has had his own strengths and weaknesses, but Holland does banter better than other two, in my opinion
IronSpider101
IronSpider101 - 6/17/2024, 7:26 PM
@Izaizaiza - I respect that, though I personally disagree. I feel like Holland has coasted a lot on being the "Gee Wilikers, I'm the young guy on the team!" but that's going to diminish as Holland has multiple younger contemporaries now and is older. I don't feel he ever had strong bantz in his solo movies. Whenever I watch NWH, I find that Garfield easily slides into the tone of the MCU better than anyone and plays off everyone pretty well, and Maguire who for the longest time was considered more emotional and least funny of the 3 easily has the best jokes and has a fun dynamic with each member of the rest of the ensemble. I just feel like Holland's interaction with Deadpool would be similar to his interaction with Iron Man, in which the other hero gets all of the funny lines and commands every scene they're in together, whereas Holland's main job is to react to it.

Izaizaiza - 6/17/2024, 7:35 PM
@IronSpider101 - I totally agree that at this point, they HAVE To have Holland's personality evolve. He needs to have more confidence in his role and abilities. Also should have a bit of that Peter Parker sadness that he's been lacking thus far
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 6/18/2024, 2:20 AM
@IronSpider101 - think Reynolds and Garfield could definitely carry a movie together. Reynolds and Holland though? Not sure. Think a few interactions in an Avengers movie could work better

I've never been a fan of Rob Liefeld, or Deadpool, or the Fox-Men, so I don't have much investment in this flick.
A little bit of Deadpool's schtick goes a long way imo, and it quickly wears out it's welcome.

That said, I think this movie will do well; about the same at the boxoffice as the first two, but it won't be the massive hit Marvel is hoping for +$1 billion.
The MCU has severely tarnished it's reputation post-Endgame, and it seems the general moviegoing public is burned out on superhero movies overall.

This will not be the movie that "saves" the MCU (if that is even possible going forward).
A TOTALLY rebooted X-Men with an entirely new cast and zero ties to the Fox properties might be the only chance to get things back in gear, but that's still years off.
I'm still hopeful the FF can be genuinely cosmic and inspiring, but from what I've seen so far, I'm rather disappointed.
There's not much to get excited about with the MCU in the short run imo and they better start hitting some home runs real quick or it'll be over soon.
