With Deadpool & Wolverine hours away from hitting theaters nationwide, Marvel Studios is giving the threequel one final push with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds enlisted to guest host Jimmy Kimmel! Live

The duo sat down for a fun chat with their co-star Emma Corrin and kicked things off by sharing a new clip from the movie.

In that, the Merc with the Mouth and Logan meet Cassandra Nova for the first time and we learn the Time Variance Authority sent her to the Void as a baby. In the comics, she's Professor X's twin sister and attempts to kill him in the womb, presumably meaning the TVA wiped her from reality before she could do any real damage.

Charles Xavier gets a mention but when Wolverine attempts to attack the villain, he gets his butt kicked by the powerful mutant as her many followers (including a few Variants) watch on.

"I did look back at those two performances," Corrin recently said of Sir Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. "I hesitated before I did because I was like, ‘Do I want to get too close? Will I still be able to make it my own?’ But I found it really interesting how they portrayed someone whose power is very internal and telepathic in that telepathic world."

"I wanted to see if there were any bits that I could use or pay homage to that, obviously, fans would really enjoy," they continued. "But in terms of the comics, we very much stay true to the comics in terms of Cassandra’s look, the cap and the costume and the weirdy fingers, and definitely, you’ll see echoes of her origin story and her relationship of her brother are very prominent here in terms of her motivation."

She was...ok enough, i guess.

Nothing special tbh but then again...it's not like Nova is such a layered character...

@Doomsday8888 - the good cbms has a villain with great characterization. Loki, Ultron. Thanos, etc.

Nova is thinly written that i see good reviews focusing on the reynolds + jackman performance and not how bad the writing and how cookie cutter the villain is.

@vectorsigma - Is it weird that I kind of want Ultron to come back? There’s so much more to his story.

She had a backstory?

@WhateverItTakes - true.

The writing is like, "lets bring ryan and hugh front and center. The fanboys will gobble it up and will not care for anything else and will not notice how bad the writing is and declare this the greatest cbm since endgame blindly"

I'm in the cinema right now, movie's gonna start in a about 25-30 minutes. 10 am morning showing. Cinema's packed and there are more people coming in all the time.

Who goes to the cinema to watch a movie this early in the day? You know apart from me and the growing multitude I'm sat with.

I'll try not to spoil it. Can't fkn wait!

How hilarious it is that desperate marvel needed to copy a scene from gotg.

Speaks volumes on how limited the creativity on this movie is.

As for Nova, she is thinly written and cookie cutter. Her lines of exposition were written to spoonfeed the audience as if they are dumb sheep

Good clip even if it was choppy (likely cut down due to time).

Emma Corrin does seem good in the role though so can’t wait to see her in the film overall!!.

Along with Dafoe as Goblin, she's probably the best villain in the Multiverse Saga so far and one of the best MCU villains overall.
