Does X-FORCE Mean DEADPOOL 3 Won't Happen? Ryan Reynolds And David Leitch Respond

Will there be a third Deadpool solo film? Variety caught up with actor Ryan Reynolds, director David Leitch, and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to assess the chances.

Catching up with Reynolds first, the 41-year-old Canadian actor stated that he was sure Deadpool 3 would eventually happen but he's currently too exhausted to even think about it.  "At this point I don’t want to think about it.  But down the road, I’m sure we’ll figure it out."

Screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese had a more definitive stance.  "We took great pains to try to set it up in this movie at the end," teased the duo about future installments. However, they then shifted focus to X-Force rather than Deadpool 3.  "So I think you’ll have some nice combination of those characters that you see at the end of this movie forming X-Force."

The X-Force spinoff will be written and directed by  Drew Goddard, who was hired by Fox in September 2017.  Filming is slated to begin this October.  The Disney-Fox merger is expected to be finalized by the Summer of 2019.

@RogueRawlings - That character was so ridiculous that they should have just given him 4 arms.

Turns out Ben Affleck wants to keep playing Batman in the DCEU.

@Battabing - Well, as the report says, it's just rumored that he said that. But everything that's been said about Ben's term as Batman has been rumors so far. I guess we just won't know until an official announcement is made.

@Battabing - I’d beleivei it.
Affleck has been on a rollercoaster these past 5 years.

Cast as Batman, hated for being cast, Forced Weight Training, Alcohol Abuse, Rehab, Divorce, Weinstein Scandal, his own behavior toward women, failure of BVS, Sadfleck, failure of Live By Night, failure of The Batman, Failure of Justice League, Paparazzi, weight control issues...did I miss anything.

Dude needed to step away from all this and regroup and recharge.

@Battabing - I hope that's true. The movies he's been in have had problems to varying degrees, but he's been one of the stand outs among it all and if the DCEU is ever to be redeemed, I feel like he, Cavill and Gadot in particular all need to be part of that.

I'm sure Deadpool will get the Hugh Jackman treatment and be the "Wolverine" to X-Force's "X-Men" i.e. still be the main character, or at most co-lead with Cable, so whether or not we get a film titled "Deadpool 3", "Deadpool The Third", "Deadpool: Escape From Unicorn Island" or "X-Force", it's pretty much gonna be the third Deadpool movie.

@AC1 - Deadpool and Cable probably will be co-leads. I dont think that should surprise anyone. It sounds like X-Force will not be bringing the tone of the Deadpool movies with it though, which should be interesting.

To be honest......I wouldn't care if we didn't have DP3, DP1, DP2 and x-force seems like a nice trilogy anyway. I would prefer a cartoon after. Side stories of deadpool, I like the idea of that, they seem to be the best comics with him.

Why would anyone even ask such a question in the post MCU world? Did anyone ask if there would be a second Captain America or third Iron Man simply because Avengers had happened?
