Benedict Cumberbatch Talks DOCTOR STRANGE

Though the interview took place before he emerged as the frontrunner for the role of the Sorcerer Supreme in Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch's (Sherlock) reaction to being quizzed about the role here could be very telling. Check it out!

While he doesn't reveal whether or not he is indeed going to play Doctor Strange for Marvel, Benedict Cumberbatch's reaction to being asked about the character in the video above may tell us all we really need to know! At the time this interview took place (for The Imitation Game), the actor was likely just entering or already in talks for the role, and looking at his body language and facial expressions...well, this is Paul Rudd and Ant-Man all over again, isn't it? What do you think?

Not too excited about this casting choice, but i'm sure he will do fine.

Not a bad choice!
I for one would love to see the banter between Benedict & RDJr.
2 sherlocks up on the screen, why not!

But, why hasn't it been officially announced yet? I wonder what the hold up is. Probably about the money...

I think Phase III is going to be the best so far.

Would anyone have an issue with Cumberbatch keeping the British accent for Strange?

The MCU could use a British superhero. It doesn't have one and the Asgardians don't count.

I didn't feel too strongly either way about Cumberbatch for Strange until I saw how entertaining he was as Sherlock Holmes on the BBC series.

Think he'll be amazing as Strange...

It's a safe choice but still a good one. I liked Jared leto better for this role but I know he's gonna crush it.

Yeah, Leto was my favorite too, but BC is a great actor and does demand the screen when he's on it...

But bad-ass...

At first I wasn't sure that he looked the prt, but then I slowly began to realize that the look isn't that important. Honestly, if you throw a goatee and style the hair of any actor, then they're bound to look somewhat like strange. What you really have to nail is the voice. Every incarnation of strange has had a very distinguishable voice, and I think Cumberbatch has that.

@batz11 That photoshopped goatee on Cumberbatch looks like a taped on collection of platypus hairs.

I thought he was absolutely phenomenal as John Harrison/Khan Noonian Singh in Star Trek: Into Darkness.

REALLY looking forward to him as Doctor Stephen Strange.

Why do people say he doesn't look the part? Look at the picture of Strange Batz put up, it could be Cumberbatch.

I actually dig this choice. I always wanted him to play Strange. I just don't think the other guys could've played an arrogant likeable douche. I always seen Strange as having that same rapier wit as Stark. As if he's the smartest guy in the room and he knows it.
