BOARDWAK EMPIRE Star Michael Stuhlbarg joins DOCTOR STRANGE In Key Role

While we've all assumed that Chiwetel Ejiofor's Baron Mordo will be the big bad of Doctor Strange, could there be a twist coming? Well, Boardwalk Empire star Michael Stuhlbarg is now in talks to join the Marvel movie, and fans of The Oath will be very happy indeed...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Stuhlbarg (who can currently be seen opposite Michael Fassbender in Jobs) is the latest addition to the cast of Doctor Strange. He joins Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen. The trade mentions the Hannibal star as being part of the cast, so he's presumably now officially signed up for a role. Going back to Stuhlbarg, and while the site doesn't have any word on who he's playing, Variety does. Apparently, the Boardwalk Empire actor has been cast as Nicodemus West. They describe him as a rival scientist, but comic book fans will know him better as the big bad of Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin's Doctor Strange: The Oath. He's the one who operated on Strange's hands after his accident and also received training from The Ancient One. With McAdams rumoured to be paying Night Nurse, it's clear this movie is borrowing elements from that limited series...

This is easily the best cast assembled for a CBM. Sorry Avengers, Justice League.

Also, @JoshWilding, I don't think anyone believes Ejiofor will be the big bad of the film.

@KurtWagner1225

What don't you get, when Kingsley signed up for that role, we all thought that he was playing the Mandarin, and it looked like they were taking it seriously, nobody thought he was playing the role he ended up playing in the film

I was just stating my opinion, it's a great cast and I hope that they take the material seriously, because they are more than capable, just like Kingsley was more than capable of giving us a "real" Mandarin in the tone of the films if they chose to take it in that direction

This guy was the best surprise of "Steve Jobs". I absolutely loved his performance. If him and Charlie Cox are any implication, I think I should start watching Boardwalk Empire.

@Jeight His PASSENGERS screenplay (the one that's currently in production with Pratt and J-Law) is quite good (it's available to download).

After all of the pure CRAP that goes on and is foisted on the public in this medium, it is announcements like THIS that keeps one going: Holy S--t-- This is Amazing! My God, the cast for this movie is truly Incredable! If Feige has spent as much time on the script for this movie as he has on the cast, this will blow the roof off!! Kick EVERYONE'S ass, Marvel Studios! (-and then go over and literally kick Joe Quesada's ass and get them in line- Marvel's publishing arm SUCKS!
