Now that Marvel Studios has finally acknowledged that principal photography on Doctor Strange is well underway, and that Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikklesen are among the cast members, both actors were recently pressed for details about their roles in the much-anticipated Phase 3 movie.

Mikklesen, fully aware of those Marvel snipers, remained tight-lipped when IGN asked about his Doctor Strange character. However, he did reveal whether or not he has started filming. “I haven't shot anything yet,” said the Danish actor. “So I've been spending my time running rehearsal on all kind of things. That’s probably the reason why you’ll see me shot tomorrow - is for saying that.”

Meanwhile, Chiwetel Ejiofor was speaking with Vulture about his new film The Secret In Their Eyes when the inevitable questions about his role as Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange came up. “Obviously, the idea is that you’ll be part of something that could have more incarnations, but that’s sort of not the focus,” said the English actor when asked about possibly appearing in Marvel sequels.  “The focus is that you just want to make the film that you’re making as good as you can make it. That’s what I’m in engaged with at the moment. It’s a really fascinating project.”

When asked if it’s safe to assume Baron Mordo will be an antagonist to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme, and what drew him to this role, Ejiofor seemingly tensed up. “In a strange way, I don’t want to answer that question, if you don’t mind,” he replied. “Because I feel like it’s linked to things I shouldn’t get into. I hope it will be interesting when we bring the film out to see what those characters are like — or what they’re not like. You’re gonna have to wait and see!”

Anyhow, Doctor Strange is currently shooting on sound stages in London, England and will soon move to Hong Kong. The Marvel production was also spotted last week shooting in New York under the working title Checkmate, as opposed to the initially-reported Eyes See You. What do you think?

Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange so far stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Stephen Strange), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), Amy Landecker, Scott Adkins, Michael Stuhlbarg (Nicodemus West), with Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) and Mads Mikklesen, and the long-awaited movie is currently scheduled to open in theaters on November 4, 2016.

Nice.

I hope they don't show the Strange's accident in the trailer. The synopsis was cool, but I think it would be better for the GA if they didn't know what to expect

I'm really curious as to who he is, it seems a little early for Dormammu but he has ties to Mordo, so that would put him directly in the movie.

This us one of the less hyped CBMs of next year and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being of the best.

I don't think anyone fully realizes how massive 2016 is going to be for CBMs and big budget genre films in general....well, unless the over saturation makes them cannibalize each others box office..hopefully that doesn't happen though :)

Also, if Marvel doesn't get the Dr. Doom rights, after Thanos I want Dormammu to be the big bad of the MCU.

Ejiofor's comments made me think they turned Strange into a buddy movie. The Mordo and Strange spend much of the movie figuring stuff out together. Kinda like the Season One book only with Wong being Mordo.

I'd like that, that we see Mordo before he turns. Him getting tempted and thrown off course.
