We've already seen photos from the set of Doctor Strange, but Marvel has today announced that production on the movie has officially begun. With that comes confirmation that the cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch (Black Mass), Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Martian), Rachel McAdams (Southpaw) and Michael Stuhlbarg (Steve Jobs) with Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale)  and Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton (The Grand Budapest Hotel).  Directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), the film will be shot in several locations around the world, including London, New York, Hong Kong and Kathmandu, Nepal (the latter we actually saw in recent set photos). The brief synopsis reveals that, "Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions."

Director Scott Derrickson’s creative team also includes director of photography Ben Davis, B.S.C. (Avengers: Age of Ultron); production designer Charles Wood (Guardians of the Galaxy); costume designer Alexandra Byrne (Avengers: Age of Ultron); editors Wyatt Smith (Thor: The Dark World) and Sabrina Plisco, ACE (Charlotte’s Web); and visuals effects supervisor Stephane Ceretti (Guardians of the Galaxy). That's quite a dream team of talent, don't you guys think?

As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on this Doctor Strange announcement below.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't include Wong at all because they didn't want the good doctor to have an Asian manservant.

yeah, I thought so too, so I'm holding my breath. The main issue though is the idiots that think Marvel is somehow racist, this isn't going to help their case and will only fuel the stupidity. But holy crap, can't believe they got Mads Mikkelsen, watched the first 2 seasons of Hannibal. CAN. NOT. WAIT!

Nice.

Can't wait for Strange

I think it would be cool for the GA if they didn't give away his origin in the synopsis though....

I hope they don't show the accident in the trailer, I want to see that for the first time at the Theatre
