EXCLUSIVE: EVIL DEAD Director Fede Alvarez Addresses DOCTOR STRANGE Rumors

Earlier today, I had the chance to sit down with Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez. While he had plenty to say about the superb horror remake, the filmmaker also had this to say about those recent Doctor Strange rumours and whether he would be interested in helming a comic book movie.

Last week, it was reported that Fede Alvarez had met with Marvel Studios, possibly to discuss the long overdue big screen adaptation of Doctor Strange. I was lucky enough to be able to meet the Evil Dead director today for a brief chat (in which we talked in detail about the horror movie) and asked him directly whether there's any truth to these reports. "Yeah, I read that. That's not true. Making a Marvel movie would be something that I would really love, I'm a big fan, but we've never really discussed that project. I don't know where that came from."

We've seen plenty of denials in the past exactly like this, so keep your fingers crossed that he's being forced - by the extremely secretive Marvel - not to reveal anything. Regardless, the chance to helm a comic book movie definitely interests him. "Yeah, definitely," the director enthusiastically replied when I asked if he would like to follow in the footsteps of The Evil Dead director Sam Raimi. "Comic book movies, they have a lot of potential if you do it the right way. There's definitely a lot of fun things to do there, so we'll see. We'll see what happens in the future..."

Evil Dead is in cinemas nationwide from 18th April. Read my review by clicking HERE.

if you have a chance to do a marvel movie do it. even if the money sucks up front, it'll be worth it in the end.

"but we've never really discussed that project."

It just me, or does that seem to leave it open to suggest they may have been talking to Marvel about a different project?

The Inhumans, perhaps?

Haven't seen the EVIL DEAD remake, but I'd give him a shot. Id prefer Guillermo Del Toro though.

Wonderer: Likes Raimi's Spider-Man, Singers X-Men, Watchmen, the MCU, Nolans Batman. Called a Nolanite fanboy.

Sagemode: Likes MCU, hates everything else. Defined himself as a fair critic.

His cinematography was outstanding. With a better story (Evil Dead Remake was lacking at some points) he could make an awesome movie, specially Doctor Strange.

Thank god the rumors are not true. The Evil Dead Remake was one of the worst films I have watched. Continuity errors, bad acting, overrealiance on gore, and an ending that questions its placement in the evil dead franchise. With the revival scene of Mia, that destroyed the rule of the book that the only way the fully possessed (Ash in Evil Dead 2 wasn't fully possessed and Shelia in army of darkness was in a different time period and reality altogether) can be cured is through death by fire, dismemberment or BURIAL which they apparently choose to disregard. By the way, Mia comes back TOTALLY FINE without injuries. I don't know why everyone's praising it. Making it all gory doesn't make it scary. Im betting Fede, if he got Dr strange, would find a way to butcher the source material too.
