While Roman Coppola is promoting his new movie, "Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III," he asked about his love for comic books and if he ever had an interest in making a comic book movie. The son of legendary filmmaker, Francis Ford Coppola, shared his desire to bring Marvel's Doctor Stephen Strange to the big screen at some point during the 90's. (Congratulations to him for rocking the unibrow and thinking that's okay.)

”You know, I did [have the desire to make a superhero movie], but I could again. I was a huge comic book fan comic book fan growing up, within reason. I was a fan of Spider-Man and all that stuff. Actually, I met Stan Lee 15 or 20 years ago when Marvel had the worst reputation for their adaptations. They had made a really terrible Fantastic Four movie and some other things. I met him with my dad and we said, ‘Oh, wow, I wish we could be involved. How great would it be to make a really accurate version of one of these films?’ I had the aspirations to make a Doctor Strange movie, which I worked on quite a bit. I ended up coming out on the other side, since I told someone I was working on a comic book movie and they said, ‘Do you really want to work for a studio to get pushed around for three years and not make something that’s personal?’ To make a movie like that where I could really use my sensibility would be fantastic. That type of work now is a product, and there’s a manner in which it’s made. Now I think it’d be better to spend those three years to do something better.”

Of interest, Roman ended the interview by telling Movie Pilot that his cousin, Nicolas Cage, would be perfect for the role of, Dr. Strange.

If you want some proof of Roman's deep love of comic books just look below and you will find a commercial that he directed. It's a Farmers Insurance television spot with a tie-in to Marvel's summer blockbuster, The Avengers.

LMAO!! Jeezus...... This guy ALMOST had the role as Superman, he was ALMOST offered the role of Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four, and now Doc Strange? I swear to God, we are just dodging bullets and [frick]ing MISSILES with Nic, here. Matrix style. Now don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy his films and I respect as an actor, but I just cannot see him in another CBM film. Nic, love ya, dude (no homo), but just stay clear of CBMs. You're an awesome actor, but not as good with CBMs......

His name is always somehow connected to a comic character. If there was a article saying that Cage was also interested in Thor, Namor, The Punisher, Thanos, or Galactus at one point, I wouldn't be surprised.lol

For the love of all things comic book keep Nic Cage away from any more adapts!! I cannot believe that any studios trying to make some $$$ actually think he might be a good option?! I think the only time he hasn't done my head in was kick ass.

Listen up! Andrew Lincoln for Doctor Strange. Nic Cage is washed up and you f*cking know it. Strange WILL appear in a movie, it all depends on the casting director, and whether or not they pull their head out of their ass and make the right choice. I feel like a lot of you just want the most famous face to sell the movie, well, look how that worked for Green Lantern. Cast a great actor, and expect great results.
