"I Can't Wait To See DR. STRANGE And The BLACK PANTHER" Says Stan Lee

Speaking to CNN, Stan "The Man" Lee talks about a number of Marvel endeavors including how much he's making off The Avengers. The answer might surprise you.

On the unprecedented success of Marvel's The Avengers and how no one was predicting such a huge financial windfall [except for Intruder]---
Stan Lee: Oh, I could have told everybody it was going to be this big of a hit! I don't know why they couldn't have predicted it. It couldn't miss! It's got some of the most popular characters in the world today. You put together a great script, a great director, great actors and a cameo by me -- how could it miss?

In response to the notion that he's receiving a portion of the billion dollar box office total---
Lee: I hate to admit this, but I do not share in the movie's profits. I just share in the interviews, in the glamour, in the people saying, "Wow, I love that movie, Stan" -- but I'm not a participant in the profits.

But Lee is listed as an Executive Producer. Surely he receives something---
Lee: Yes, but it's just an honorary title. Well, it would be nice [to receive something]. (laughs) But I'm used to the way the situation is. I don't go around thinking about it. I am really very pleased that people enjoy the movie, that it's doing well, and even though I didn't film the movie myself, I seem to be getting a lot of credit for it! (laughs)

On who he'd like to see next on the big screen---
Lee: I can't wait to see Dr. Strange and The Black Panther.

Stan is then asked whether these films are in the works---
Lee: I have a feeling they very well might be. They're certainly being considered right now.

The one character Stan wishes he had created---
Lee: Well, it would have been nice to come up with Superman! (laughs)

There's a lot more in the interview with Lee over at CNN so be sure to click the source link below to read the full transcript.

I really hope we see a Black Panther film soon. Could be amazing if done right (and knowing Marvel, I'm sure they'll do it right).

Doctor Strange MUST be the 2nd 2014 movie. They can wait an extra year to release Avengers 2. They need the Doctor to introduce the world of magic, with an actor near the level of RDJ.

Black Panther would also be awesome, but less necessary.

Oh hells yes to Black Panther. His story alone would make a great film. I actually have been writing a short story on how Black Panther should be transitioned to film.

sinchsw - 5/14/2012, 10:32 AM
What ever happened to the short films they were going to make? That would be a great way to test the waters on characters like Black Panter, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Nova, Captain Marvel, Moon Knight, and other similar characters.

TonyChu - pitch it to Marvel as a short 3 to 5 minute film.
TonyChu
TonyChu - 5/14/2012, 10:37 AM
@ sinchsw If I had the time and the money I would. The story is really a struggle between T'Chaka and T'Challa's views on the outside world. And how T'Challa's brother sets up his fathers death to take the throne.

@ Azazel1 How do you hate Black Panther? He is basically just like Batman and just like how Batman has a file to defeat every character on the JLA, Black Panther has a file in his drawer on how to defeat Galactus.

I called doctor strange, good job bob! Ant-man is the secret movie marvel already filmed, or it might be guardians of the galaxy(i think this is more likely due to the heavy cgi for everything and also the characters) but im soooooo glad doctor strange is in the works. Someone who has a better chance against thanos than anyone else ^_^
Quick question, what do you get when you combine galactus and thanos together? This:

@ thalidomide Black Panther has the potential to have one of the best comicbook story lines to date if done right.

I like Stan but he takes all the credit.

No to Black Panther as a solo film. I'm even Meh on Ant-Man. I think Avengers 2 should just add War Machine. Would like to see HYDRA re-form in Cap 2 and be the main villains setting up Thanos for Avengers 3

Besides if Doc Strange is going to be on a team why not do a Defenders movie to branch out other characters in the Marvel universe. I never really thought of Doc Strange as an Avenger.

Jim Caviezel or Johnny Depp are my only choices for Strange. I don't care if everyone else is sick of Depp it's not his fault he's in so many movies the guy has to work and he's a dead ringer for the role.

As for Black Panther = Djimon Hounsou

Dr Strange first, then Black Panther! As much as I love The Avengers and all the solo in the film, now that the movie's out I'm so excited to see this expand, and see new characters on screen!
I'm also interested to see how Ant-Man goes. With Edgar Wright on board it's bound to be really fun, but I'm not sure how I feel about the rumour Hank Pym will be Ant Man in the 60s, since really he should be a member of the Avengers at some point. Also, I think that while Jan could be introduced in Ant-Man, maybe she should get her powers in whatever Avengers movie they end up in.

Black Panther could be a great film. I think his story can easily translate to film. I don't know how you make a great film about Doc Strange. Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter had great wizard stories, but is that gonna be the case with DS? Can it translate to a good CBM? As a solo character, his comics (even though I still collected) have not been overwhelmingly exciting.

Black panther makes the most sense for this movie universe especially with some of the hints regarding him in other movies. Strange would be cool too just please bo ant man. I just don't see him fitting in well on the big screen. Just the name alone would make people laugh and not take him seriously

BLACK PANTHER'S origin story has all the makings of an awesome movie.

Show T'Challa's warrior training from birth leading into his Trials of Ascension by defeating his father (instead if his uncle S'Yan) to becoming the new Panther.

And have the main villain KLAW wanting to steal Wakandan vibranium for some bigger scheme.

It's so obviose they are going to do a black panther movie. Not offecnse but the studio is going to want something to grab the African American group. The avengers is a bunch of white girls and a girl, hahah, th ey need a black guy to round it out.

Djimon Hounsou is too old for Black Panther for crying out loud. only role he can play is the father.

@ sexfoodcomics, couldnt agree with you more....starting to introuduce a seriously dull boring character just because he's black smacks of tokenism,
should keep "all da brothers" happy thou....if it is
the case that a black character has to be introuduced..why not Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty n Collen....a Marvel knights mash up would be great!!!
