Daniel Craig Addresses DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Rumors And He's Playing Incredibly Coy

Glass Onion and No Time to Die star Daniel Craig has finally responded to reports he was set to play Balder the Brave in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but why is he acting so coy about it?

We've known for a long time that Marvel Studios planned to include Balder the Brave (Thor's brother in the comic books) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Initial reports suggested Bruce Campbell would play the Asgardian, though it's still unclear whether he actually shot any of those scenes before Mister Fantastic and Black Bolt were added to the mix.

Since then, it's been revealed that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star Daniel Craig was actually eyed to play Balder, with concept art even showing what the former James Bond would have looked like as The Illuminati member.

During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz, Craig was asked outright whether he's heard of a character called Balder the Brave. "Err, no," the actor initially responded, clearly feigning ignorance. "Unbelievable, isn't it? [Laughs] I don't know what you're talking about."

Rumour has it Craig had to pass on a role in the Doctor Strange sequel due to the pandemic and his commitments to No Time to Die. However, the way he's acting here suggests Marvel Studios has asked him to keep quiet, possibly because there are plans for him in the MCU down the line.

When Horowitz quizzed the actor on whether a Marvel role would be of interest, he said: "I'll take any job if the hours are good. Sure. Absolutely. Definitely [Laughs]."

Whether it's as Balder or another character altogether, we have a pretty strong feeling there's a role being lined up for Craig in the MCU. He clearly knows something, and as the Balder cameo didn't happen, there's really no other reason for him to act so secretively. Perhaps the plan is for Thor's brother to show up in one of the upcoming Avengers movies?

Check out the full interview with Craig below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Couldn't this simply be a case where the concept art artist used an actor's likeness as an inspiration, without said actor actually been approached for the role?

He said no, why is it so hard to believe.

@micvalpro - exactly. He's an actor. Why would he ever lie about a superhero role.

No actor has ever
Done that
At all

Josh, while you may be right, how do you make an entire narrative based on these comments? You can't gather anything from Daniel's comments here

And in more Wilding news, it turns out that Gusto was considered for the porn version of I saw Mom kissing Santa Claus.

Maybe he was only cast in a role that didn't specify which at the time, if he was cast at all. Maybe it never got out of the concept phase.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind Craig in a CBM. Maybe something unexpected like Angel.

The Multiverse Of Madness cameos were hollow gimmicks. And as I said months ago, the deaths of Richards and Prof X were done to signify that those versions will not be the the primary versions in the MCU. The MCU versions will be woke. They will be race swapped, maybe even gender swapped and possibly not straight.

Get him for something. Even if it's just a Storm Trooper-like appearance, but it'd be a shame to use him for so little.

I'm glad they didn't use a character like Balder in MoM. Had he been introduced earlier then fine, but now as it was. Maybe they can use him the next time Thor makes an appearance.
Or they could use Daniel Craig as someone else. A lot of people suggest Magneto, an idea I really like.

If DC could snag him up first, I'd love to see him as Sinestro.
