DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Looking To Cast Young Teen To Play America Chavez

There have been claims for months that Miss America is going to be part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and a new casting call indicates that Marvel Studios is looking for a young teen!

In the comic books, America Chavez, who is also known as Miss America, is a young woman in her late teens or early twenties. Marvel Studios, however, appears to be looking for a younger actress to take on the role if a new rumor shared by The Direct is any indication of their plans.

The character being part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been rumored for months now, and she's been described in the past as a "teenage Hispanic female who will be a supporting lead in the film."

This latest rumor claims that an official casting grid has indicated that Marvel Studios is looking for a Puerto Rican actress between the ages of 12-15 years old. That may seem a little young, but it gives Miss America a starting point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, allowing fans to follow her story from the very beginning.

There's a chance this means Miss America could end up being part of the Young Avengers when they finally assemble, as she'd be around the same age as Cassie Lang/Stature.

The comic books portrayed America Chavez as a tough, no nonsense super heroine, but with a genuine desire to help others and do good. She is from the Utopian Parallel, an idealistic reality that once faced destruction, so that could be how Strange crosses paths with her.

Unless they are playing the long game and are going to develop her over several years before becoming a hero, I doubt its her.Like come on, they arent going to cast a kid to play an actual superhero. Closest they have done is Tom Holland, and he was 19.

Would be nice to see a latino superhero, not many of those in either DC or Marvel, or at least not many that could support a film. Don't know much about this character.

Doctor Strange in The Muliverse of Madness and Fantastic Four are my must see movies in the next Marvel phase.

I think the MCU is about to do with Young Avengers what they did with the Avengers themselves. 20 years ago, most people didn't give a shit about Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. And ten years from now, I think people are going to be as attached to America Chavez, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, Kamala Khan and the Maximoff twins as they are to the current MCU roster.

Plus, it might be kind of brilliant to do a generation shift like this. The Young Avengers play teens-to-early-twenties, while introducing the main X-Men roster as late-twenties-to-early-thirties. The X-Men are necessarily going to suck up a lot of oxygen, and it gives the YA a niche (until they're in their thirties, the G1 X-Men are "retiring" and the New Mutants show up to spice up that side of the world). All in time for a big Secret War-style extravaganza that brings back the original crew (both literally and through CG-de-aging) in some kind of Crosstime Caper.

...Or maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. America Chavez would be cool.

@Spock0Clock - nah I don't think you're off the mark here

Don't like this char from what little I've read. Convulated origins, bland name and costume and broken powers. They need to rework her for the MCU.

@kitheka - she definitely needs a rework for the big screen. But keep one thing constant. Her ethnicity

I like the idea of adding her to the MCU, although I worry about adding too many characters to Doctor Strange 2, so hopefully America Chavez is the main one they add here. Sam Raimi is strongest with a tight cast where he can do character work, I feel.

@Chewtoy - Oh shit... I forgot this was Raimi. While I'm okay with him playing with Doctor Strange, I'm less confident about what he'll do with something like creating a character purely to suit another franchise.

Well yeah it makes perfect that she would be in a movie about the multiverse, the multiverse is what she is all about. Still love the character. Still hate the costume, still hate the superhero code name.

She was cool on the Ultimates where it made sense for her to be there with her janky ass powers, but she is way too OP for Earth and way way way too OP for MCU.

@adamcawa - considering they added Captain Marvel to the MCU and how OP they made her to the point she has no more than 5 minutes (thankfully). I don't think they really care.

@LameLuka - Captain Marvel can't kick holes in dimensions and create mini-stars though

Hope this movie is more than just introducing new heroes to set up future movies. The reason Age of Ultron failed was because they were way to focused on setting up future stuff instead of making a good movie.
I trust Raimi more than any of the directors they have right now. But I am a bitt worried

@LameLuka - Age of Ultron hardly failed. Some take issue with certain aspects of the film, but it certainly didn't fail.

Boricua!!! It's going to be nice having a Boricua actress playing a big time superhero, well a Newyorican most likely.

@8thDoctor - The actress hired might not be Puerto Rican.
