DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS: [SPOILER] Shares A First Look At Their Character

A certain actor who made their MCU debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has taken to Twitter to share a behind-the-scenes look at their character. Major spoilers follow!

We're still being a bit careful here just in case some of you haven't had the chance to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness yet, so be warned that major spoilers for the movie's mid-credits scene follow.

In the first of the Doctor Strange sequel's stingers, the Master of the Mystic Arts takes a little stroll and is greeted by a mysterious female magic-wielder played by Charlize Theron. Though she doesn't introduce herself, comic book fans will likely have recognized this character as the Sorcerer Supreme of the Dark Dimension and niece of the Dread Dormammu, Clea.

Theron vaguely teased her involvement over the weekend, and the Academy Award-winner has now shared a first behind-the-scenes look at Clea via Twitter. She also posted a still from her scene to Instagram.

In the comics, Clea becomes a close ally, lover and eventual wife of Strange. We don't know what Marvel Studios has planned for this powerful new hero, but she does tell Stephen that she needs him to help her deal with an incursion her caused, so it sounds like more Multiversal adventures await in the inevitable threequel.

What did you guys make of Clea's introduction? Do you think they should have done more to explain exactly who she is? Drop us a comment down below.

@Lokiwasright - Imagine being so miserable this is what comes to mind to represent yourself.

Not a good look.

He had no chemistry with McAdams, hopefully this works better

@tmp3 - agreed. I think things will, Charlize is always a good snag. Glad the Christine storyline was neatly wrapped up.

@tmp3 - I think their chemistry is fine, but the characters don't go together well. I like how they handled and put a bow on that relationship in MoM.

@tmp3 - they were so wooden together. They needed to rid of that storyline and thankfully it’s over

@HeavyMetal4Life - But Strange said he loves her in EVERY UNIVERSE ... all men do is lie and eat hot cheetos

@GhostDog - My crush and I had a relationship that was wooden. I messed it up but till this day I love that man. He is happily married with his husband and they have a beautiful life together but I have never not loved him. I totally understand the wooden love between the two because I was Strange. I gave little effort while he (Christine) gave it their all and got nothing in return.

For the people who don't read Doctor Strange comics, I wish that scene was a bit longer, and provided more context. It felt very much like, "WTF is Charlize Theron doing here"?😂

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - yeah because she always walks around dressed like that.

@BO31 @99OPTIMISTPRIME - oddly I'm distracted BY it being Charlize Theron. And I agree it's because it's such a short scene and we simply don't know her. A full movie with her will help to see how well Charlize fits into the role

The point was to have everyone go out of the theater and google it.

@grif - It’s not the best costume in the world but to be this dramatic about it is silly af.

@Tonic24k - no it’s not being silly. It looked terrible. Why should we just accept it? They should’ve and could’ve done better. This is not the best they could’ve done with her outfit and look let’s face it.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 5/16/2022, 9:12 PM
@Frshcoupe - I literally did say that. It isn't the best. But to go to the extreme polar opposite and say it's terrible is plain dramatic and silly.

The spectrum is much broader than just shit and perfection.

Even though her appearance was pretty sudden and felt disjointed with the film (the after credits scenes in the first Doctor Strange were certainly better), seeing Charlize I immediately said out loud "holy shit that's Charlize Theron." She is a great catch by Marvel and I'm excited to see where things go from here.

ElricReturns - 5/10/2022, 7:46 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - my only issue is that the last 2 MCU after credit scenes have been "holy shit... its (insert actor)" instead of "holy shit... its (insert Marvel Character)" so it feels more like stunt casting bait rather than Marvel having quality content to bait.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 5/10/2022, 7:54 PM
@ElricReturns - wait what was the other after credits scene? The only one I can think of that had a notable actor was the first one in Eternals (and tbh it didn't do a whole lot for me).

@HeavyMetal4Life -
I think those were the exact words I used. Holy Shit, what is she doing there?" She will fit like a glove.
ElricReturns
ElricReturns - 5/10/2022, 9:15 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - I was referencing Eternals. Literally the ONLY hype that came out of Eternals was all the Harry Styles fangirls screaming "holy shit it's Harry Styles!" And he pretty much did the same exact thing Charlize did, showed up and baited a new adventure then that's it. Lol it was basically the same after credit scene. Just "Look who's in the MCU now.... bye".
ElricReturns
ElricReturns - 5/10/2022, 9:18 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - and honestly I couldn't even tell you if Black Widow or Shang Chi had any after credit scenes because apparently they were so forgettable I have zero recollection what they even were.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 5/10/2022, 9:25 PM
@ElricReturns - Lol yeah I guess that's right. Honestly Eternals is a pretty forgettable movie for me and one of my least favorite MCU films; even though I think a few other movies are lower in the MCU (though maybe I need to revise my ranking), seeing it in theater was certainly my least favorite viewing experience of any MCU film. I think I laughed a few times and then sat there straight faced for the rest of the film.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 5/10/2022, 9:27 PM
@ElricReturns - Black Widow's first scene basically set her up joining the Secret Avengers. The second scene was solid imo and had Yelena at Natasha's grave where she encountered what's her name's character, who had a pic of Ronin.

The first Shang-chi scene I thought was good, it had them with Wong, Bruce, and Captain Marvel. The second scene was his sister taking over the Ten Rings.

@HeavyMetal4Life - thank you for the refresher. That jogged my memory. I do remember those now.

What's with all the hate?

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to what they do in Doctor Strange 3. Although MOM felt less like a Doctor Strange film, it seems like the third one will be, from the way they are teasing it.

This cameo was equally one of my favorite parts!

I nearly died when Theron jumped out as Clea! Welcome to the MCU miss Theron.

At this point it's clear Marvel can have whoever they want. The MCU is like a superior compartmentalized Hollowood.
