DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Star Elizabeth Olsen Says The Movie Is Scarier Than INDIANA JONES

Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange sequel was expected to be a full-blown horror movie, and Elizabeth Olsen has now teased the scares new director Sam Raimi is bringing to In The Multiverse of Madness...

While we may never know what Scott Derrickson had planned for his Doctor Strange sequel, rumours have pointed to it embracing some of the horror vibes from the Sorcerer Supreme's comic book adventures by pitting him against Nightmare. Now, Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is clearly set to take us on a very different sort of adventure.

However, while many of you will know Raimi for his work on the original Spider-Man trilogy, the filmmaker is also no stranger to horror, helming the original Evil Dead and producing countless entries in the genre.

Elizabeth Olsen recently spoke to Vanity Fair and was asked about writer Michael Waldron's comments about Doctor Strange being "Indiana Jones in a cloak." In the WandaVision star's opinion, it's a valid comparison, but she feels there's a "darker" side to the character and that's reflected in the sequel itself (which Olsen insists is actually scarier than those adventure movies).

"I think it’s scarier than Indiana Jones. I think it definitely feels more Sam Raimi than that. So maybe that was the goal, but it definitely became something darker I think," Olsen said. "Yeah, not like [Raimi's] western [work]. Yes, the horror genre feeling of constant fear and thrill and misleads and playing with camera, playing with how the perspective of the depth of field in order to make the audience feel more anxious. I think it's more than like a glossy Indiana Jones movie."

She added, "I love Indiana Jones, but I feel like it has a darker thing going on."

Very little has been revealed about the sequel, but we are expecting to follow the Sorcerer Supreme and Scarlet Witch as they travel through the Multiverse alongside America Chavez. Whether they'll all have the same goals remains to be seen, especially as Wanda will most likely be looking for Billy and Tommy.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released in theaters on March 25, 2022.

I know there will inevitably be compromises because it's the MCU, but my god every time I hear one of these actors describe Raimi's impact on the movie and its style I get super giddy.

Honestly the Indiana Jones comparison doesn't do much for me because I never ever thought any of the Indy movies were scary, very good but not scary at all. But I trust the MCU so I feel this will be an interesting, most likely trippy experience. If we can get some legitimate scares in there as well, more the better.

I really think the Indy comment is purely based on the adventure they go on but it's trying to state that there are horror elements to this adventure.

Ramis horror always impresses, because the man can tell a story. Whereas I find myself getting sidetracked by a lot of horror these days Rami always knew how to keep your attention. I have faith.

Sorry, but these headlines and quotes from the actress....

Scarier than Indiana Jones? wtf?
to me its the same as saying "its scarier than There's Something About Mary" or scarier than Ironman 1. Its either a scary movie or its NOT. just be clear for once and for all, lol. All this sounds like a joke from the cast and crew. It will be just another Marvel Studios movie, with some "dark" moments, but thats all, lol. Stop trying to sell this like something it wont be. Its Disney and Marvel Studios, its mainstream, its a big blockbusters, so.... stop the nonsense, please.

@gambgel - she didn't start with the comparison. The comparison was made and she commented how she feels the movie is darker and scarier than an Indiana Jones movie. She was essentially saying the Indy comparison wasn't good because she feels the movie has darker scarier elements than an Indy film. So what she said was nothing at all like her saying "It's scarier than There's Something About Mary".

So here's a scoop:

In Avengers: Endgame, Tony made a time machine that remembered how to get back to certain timelines. Essentially a mode of multiversal travel with the only drawback being that you have to have already been in a certain timeline in order for the device to remember it.
In Dr. Strange, there is a sling-ring that travels to certain magical dimensions in the multiverse.
Scoop is: Henry Pym will combine these two technologies to upgrade the machine into a Quantum Tunneler, able to access any universe in the entire multiverse.
This machine will first appear in Spider-man: No Way Home and will be the focus of both DS-MOM and Quantumania.
Hank Pym will be in DS-MOM/S-NWH.

Where did I get this scoop from, you ask? What's my inside source?

Also this video of the new Spidey ride has an easter egg for a Quantum Computer that Pym and Strange build.

@noahthegrand - Sure. When you're a child it's terrifying. Not scary compared to everything modern Hollywood is currently doing.

Guys, she said it's scarier than Indiana Jones because she compared Doctor Strange's character to Indiana Jones, but is then saying the overall film isn't like the Indiana Jones films because it has a darker tone. It's her expanding on a comparison she made.

It's basic comprehension.

Good to know because none of the Indiana Jones movies were scary. Sure, they all had moments that were pretty intense, but scary? Not at all.
