DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Star Xochitl Gomez Teases Her YOUNG AVENGERS Future

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Xochitl Gomez has weighed in on her future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expressing enthusiasm over possibly assembling alongside the Young Avengers.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we meet an exciting new hero in Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez. With the power to punch through realities, we anticipate her being a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward, but what does Gomez know about her future?

Talking to Digital Spy, the relative newcomer said, "I would love to continue to play her, of course. I'm just excited to see what the MCU has in store for her and her character growth. I wish [I knew more]. I asked for hints like, 'Guys, this way or this way? Just point which way'. And they're like, 'Nope.'"

During a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gomez was asked about potentially joining the Young Avengers. America has become a key part of that team in recent years, and it's in that comic book series we've seen her LGBTQ+ status explored in a significant way. While many fans are hoping for a Disney+ spinoff featuring the character, the actress sounds keen for a team-up down the line.

"Whatever they plan to do, I’m willing to do it," she responded with enthusiasm. "I have made friends with lots of people. I mean, of course through IG and stuff. But I mean, why not?"

As per usual, we're in the dark about Marvel Studios' plans moving forward. The response to the Doctor Strange sequel hasn't been as overwhelmingly positive as some previous MCU movies, so we have to believe that will be taken into account when it comes to future plans for all these characters.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now playing in theaters!

Definitely wanna see a Young Avengers show. Enough characters have already been introduced to fill the team: Kate, Yelena, Cassie, America, Eli, Kid Loki, Tommy and Billy.

I wouldn't mind it either if we'll just get a Hawkeye and Black Widow show with the occasional apoearance from Cassie or America.

Thought her character was going to be the annoying kid sidekick but I actually enjoyed her arc and role towards Strange in the film

@TheRationalNerd -
She had no arc, she was a plot device and she was pretty OP originally. All she had to do was 'realize she was OP' and they could not even let her learn that on her own, she had to be told by Doctor Strange.

An OP character simply needing to recognize they are OP is the same way that other Mary Sue characters have been handled lately - but its more insulting with America Chavez because they try and pretend that she has experience with the multiverse one minute and then she's incompetent the next not knowing how to use her powers.

@TheRationalNerd - what arc

@McMurdo - Learning to not run away and stand up for herself. How did you miss that? It was literally the climax.

@DrReedRichards - She's definitely gonna recruit Cassie in Ant Man 3. I just got a feeling that'll be their post credit scene.

@KWilly - Cassie doesn't have any powers yet tho.

@Drace24 - Feige is gonna have the best documentary ever when it's all said and done. There's gonna be a montage of people explaining what that look means

@Drace24 - I'm assuming she'll get a suit in Ant Man 3

@KWilly - I'd rather her be able to change size without a suit after an accident with Pym particles or whatever. Just to set her apart from Scott and Hank. (And to avoid the name "Ant-Girl".)
Magus

@Drace24 - I bet she got into trouble during the 5 year gap & will already be sneaking out with Pym Particles at night when we start Quantumania.

Kudos to them for casting an actual teenager to play...a teenager.
Take notes, Warner, we dont want another 25 years old Dick Grayson!

She held her own, but this wasn't at all her movie so I'm curious to know where they truly take her. Without getting into spoilers, my thoughts on what the Young Avengers roster will be has changed coming out of this movie and seeing her tragic backstop gives me a few ideas as to where their team up could ultimately go

Also, really weird seeing her described by some as macguffin or plot device. They definitely used her power to move along the plot a few times but she was very key in Stranges development as well as Wanda's, and she had pretty good character definition despite all the craziness happening around her

@OmegaDaGrodd -

Yea she was the vehicle within Stranger's arc of the necessity to trust others beyond himself...and also the one who decided Wanda by showing her how her kids would view her actions

Was interesting to get her so inexperienced in the MCU. In the comics she has been hyper confident since her first appearance. Its sort of her thing.

Hope we pick up with her again and she is already he confident comics self after training with Wong.

I thought it was cute, although odd, that her multiverse portals open in a star shape.
