DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Storyboard Shows Scarlet Witch With Mordo's Decapitated Head

We've heard about this scene on multiple occasions, but Marvel Studios storyboard artist Jeremy Simser has now revealed the moment Scarlet Witch presented 616 Mordo's head to Doctor Strange. Check it out!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness originally opened with Mordo tracking down the Scarlet Witch. That didn't end well for Stephen Strange's former ally, and the powerful Avenger decapitated him!

It sounds like a cool sequence, but also one that would have wasted a character with limitless potential in the MCU. We're guessing that's the reason it was scrapped, and after spending time with Master Mordo on Earth-838, the hope is Chiwetel Ejiofor will soon reprise his role as the Mordo who lost his way at the end of Doctor Strange.

Had Wanda Maximoff killed Mordo, the plan was for her to present his head to Stephen Strange at Kamar-Taj later in the movie. It all sounds pretty hardcore for a Marvel Studios blockbuster, but we now have a better idea of how the scene played out thanks to storyboard artist Jeremy Simser.

"[Ever] wonder whatever happened to Universe 616 Mordo?" he asks. "Well, up until very late in the process this is what happened to him! It's always interesting to be involved as the story gets refined while I storyboard. Who knows what Mordo's ultimate fate may be? Not me! Deleted scenes don't count!"

It's true that deleted scenes aren't canon in the MCU, but leaving Mordo alive for a future clash with Strange is a wise decision. After all, we've yet to see the villain reach his full potential as one of the hero's greatest foes, and wasting Ejiofor's talents would be a crime.

It's thought this sequence was shot, but Marvel Studios hasn't released it as a deleted scene and seems unlikely to do so for the time being unless it's part of a special edition box set similar to "The Infinity Saga" collection. We may be waiting a while for that, though!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now available on physical and digital platforms.

Few reasons why they might not have gone for it.

- They changed plans for 616 Mordo

- The optics of a headless Chitiwel Ejiofor might not look good in this current political climate.

- Disney movie

Not a fan of the scripted dialogue, but that sure is how you introduce a villain!

Certainly no hero would pose with a decapitated head...

...right?

Great to see that they had no actual plans for Mordo even though the first Doctor Strange movie's post credit scene hinted otherwise. So disappointing honestly. I don't know why Scott Derrickson, but it's not so hard to contemplate the reasons. And I say this as someone who very much enjoyed MoM, but it's a movie that could've used more planning.
