Doctor Strange made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2016, but he's been through a lot in the years that have followed. Thor: Ragnarok made it clear the Sorcerer Supreme has mastered his powers, and we really saw him come into his own in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Now, all eyes are on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; that movie promises to be a game-changer for the character as he's joined by the Scarlet Witch and America Chavez on a trip through the Multiverse created in the closing moments of Loki's season finale last month.
During a recent interview with Geek Vibes Podcast, Loki Head writer Michael Waldron - who also penned the screenplay for the Doctor Strange sequel - teased a big step forward for Stephen Strange.
"I think that Stephen Strange has been through so much between that first movie and now," the writer explains. "That first movie was an incredible origin story of how he became a sorcerer, but now he's been through that. He's fought Thanos and he's on the other end of it, and he's kind of at the height of his powers. So it's an interesting place to catch up with him."
If you're familiar with Doctor Strange's comic book adventures, you'll likely know that the MCU has only really scraped the surface of what the hero can do. Marvel Studios embracing that power in this movie is an exciting prospect, though it might speak more to the Scarlet Witch's powers.
