WandaVision completely changed Wanda Maximoff's status quo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we're fully expecting the Scarlet Witch to make a major impact in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness next year. Wanda is now more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme himself, and as she looks to bring her children back, her actions could have major ramifications for the Multiverse.

Benedict Cumberbatch was recently shooting the sequel in Somerset, England, though it's unclear whether Olsen was also part of what's been described as a $2.8 million sequence

Glamour recently caught up with the actress, and while they didn't ask much about her role as the Scarlet Witch, Olsen did share a minor update on the Doctor Strange sequel. "It’s a bonkers movie," she teased, "they’re definitely going for that horror show vibe."

There's been a lot of speculation online that original director Scott Derrickson walked away from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness because Marvel Studios didn't embrace his vision for the MCU's first horror movie, but with Sam Raimi at the helm, it's hardly surprising that the sequel will still lean into the genre to some degree.

@TheDoctor1225 - Like "Edgar Wright didn't want it to be in the MCU or have MCU elements," the "Marvel didn't want horror" is a convenient reason that "makes sense" to fans, but has no real basis in reality (beyond Kevin Feige stressing it isn't entirely a horror film as implied at SDCC). Derrickson has not said why he left, but he cryptically criticized two elements of blockbuster filmmaking around the time he left: studios having release dates and sticking to them regardless if the film is ready or not, and bringing in new writers every time there's a problem (Dr. Strange 2 got a new writer one month before Derrickson left).

We may never know what happened, but reading between the lines, I think the film had multiple problems to either Derrickson or Marvel had with it, Marvel wanted to bring in a new writer to solve it, and Derrickson didn't want to essentially start all over again working with a writer if the release date was going to stay the same. Whether some of those issues were horror related, maybe, but it's an easy fan simplification that ignores the more complex reasons why he could have left.

P.S. Bringing in new writers is why Edgar Wright left too. Once he was just the director and not writer/director, he felt like that took his heart out of it.

"Bonkers Horror Vibe" is basically Sam Raimi's middle name.
