Kevin Feige Feels DOCTOR STRANGE 2's Trailers Have Given Away Too Many SPOILERS

During last night's world premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige took issue with how spoilery the trailers for Sam Raimi's sequel have been.

Most would agree that superhero movie trailers tend to give away a little too much these days, and the teasers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were no different.

Though the trailers/TV spots didn't spoil all of the sequel's surprises (far from it), they did reveal that Sir Patrick Stewart would appear as Professor Charles Xavier. They also made it abundantly clear that the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) would serve as the villain of the piece, and strongly hinted at several other plot points.

It can be easy to forget that a production's creative team usually has very little say about how a film is marketed, and Kevin Feige did not seem best pleased when asked what his favorite moment from the trailers was during last night's red carpet premiere.

"There’s been too much in the trailers, I don’t want to talk about anything else," said the Marvel Studios boss. "But I will say, Sam has made this movie to be experienced on as big a screen as possible, and it’s even the first one in a long time that 3D was really taken into account, too, because the first Doctor Strange film I think was out best film ever in 3D, and this one now will be right alongside that."

One could argue that promotional material should try to get prospective audiences as hyped as possible, but it's not as if fans are going to skip the latest MCU movie no matter how unrevealing the trailers are.

Of course, the trailers are far from the biggest issue, as plot leaks have become commonplace over the past few years, and a full breakdown of Doctor Strange 2 has been online for months.

Can't imagine going to a Marvel movie anymore without knowing a huge plot point, lol. Everything gets leaked, and I have no self control

@KWilly - Me neither. I had to wait months for Spidey and it was completely spoiled by then.

@KWilly - In this case, it was the trailers, Patrick Stewart's voice in the first one was already pushing it, but the TV spots went too damn far.

@Gandressmex -
There’s a difference. One thing is having people leaking stuff “illegally”, other thing entirely is that their own company shows the entire movie in their own trailers before release!

The fact that Feige is complaining about the trailers should mean that someone could be fired. Hopefully he doesn’t allow marketing to screw up this bad again! (Specially BEFORE release)

@TheHumanSpider2 - I remember seeing a concept art of Professor X vs Wanda way before parts or the plot leaked.

@colonel179 - Regardless of the difference the leaks were still bad. Unfortunately thats all due thanks to technology every spoiler goes viral with every movie coming out.

@TheHumanSpider2 - That's true they can be fake, but this one wasn't so I was kind of sad when I learned I got spoiled early once I saw the trailer.

Ok.... from what I've been hearing I'm lowering my expectations a ton.

But you know what... I just wanna know.... does anyone who's been following know 100% confirmation who cameos? I don't care anymore, just dish the spoilers.

:SPOILERS BELOW:

Is Krasinski really in this as Reed? Tell me who all cameo in this. Was the Black Bolt leaked footage real? Does Wanda really kill the Illuminati? Imma pay to watch anyways, I just don't care about the spoilers anymore.

I mean, he runs the whole show, right? Shouldn't he been able to control the narrative as far as spoilery ads?

Isn’t he kind of somewhat in charge of that? Also, I wish someone would come out and comment on the fact that despite the reputation Marvel had for being spoiler snipers, this movie and No Way Home leaked more than a 70’s breast implant.

Too much? How dare you? We ain't had enough by a wide right mile.

This is funny to read because if you compare these trailers to Infinity War, this movie's marketing has been waaaaaaayyyyyy more conservative. We're not even sure what the central conflict of the movie is, don't know the context of the story outside of mild tidbits, and also can't even be sure we've seen more than a few brief snippets of (what we think is) the 3rd act
