He could well be according to Bleeding Cool. Apparently the Grey's Anatomy star would love to play The Sorcerer Supreme, and has even been seen by Marvel..

The site doesn't go into many details, or reveal their sources, but they do say...

Star of Grey’s Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey, really wants to play a different kind of Doctor. Doctor Strange. And comics artist-working-in-Hollywood Arne Starr seems to agree, whipping up this piece of art that got Dempsey seen by Marvel Studios.



That's pretty much your lot. With Marvel's hiring Conan scribes Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer for the movie only being announced yesterday, it's no coincidence that the casting rumors will begin to flow now. So, don't read too much into this just yet. Still, you never know. Bleeding Cool's sources first reported the Michael Fassbender as Magneto rumor a good while before it was confirmed, so I reckon this is worth keeping an eye on. As for Dempsey, well he certainly looks the part, and although I thoroughly despise Grey's Anatomy, he seems to be a decent enough actor. If this is true and he is genuinely interested, this could be the easiest casting decision in history!

well, the fact that he wants to play the character is kind of astounding. dr. strange has relatively few fans in the comic book community, let alone the mainstream.

still, nothing ive ever seen him in proves to me that hes a movie star and not just a tv star. then again, ive seen very little of him so thats not a fair judgment. it would be a different choice, much more reserved and cool that the traditional hero.

I've never seen him act and I don't watch Grey's Anatomy.

Personally, I'd rather see Clive Owen (or my dream pick Neeson).

he certainly has the looks and is a good actor, so why not? although johnny depp (or even better liam-the god-neeson) would attract more people and would make strange well-known.

I'm pretty sure there was an article that confirmed Christian Bale was already signed on to play Dr. Strange, something like 2 years ago maybe? It was flat out saying that there were no plans at that time for the movie, but that he was in "retainer". It could have been untrue or even true and void now, but I do remember this.

Awesome find Ror. This really is the easiest casting in history. lol He has the look of course. I remember seeing that art piece either last year or the yea before. It was a green Lantern too. But yeah this casting is perfect.

Sounds like a good choice. He is a good actor and deserves better work, and this could help his carear. Plus he could help pull in a larger audience, mainly females and draw attention to it.

He is a good choice, and looks the part and is a good actor. I can't believe no one thought of this before. I am in full support of him getting the role.

Where are you getting that from?Doctor Strange is a very popular character.

I don't know about Dempsey.I don't think you want to use an actor who is currently a prominent TV doctor to portray one of comics' most prominent doctors.
