Kevin Feige Offers DOCTOR STRANGE Update; Hints At Post 2015 "Phase 3" Release Date

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reveals that they are actively working on "trying to crack" a Doctor Strange movie and that we should probably expect to see the film as part of "Phase 3" following The Avengers 2 and Ant-Man.

In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige has revealed that a Doctor Strange movie is most definitely on Marvel Studios' radar and quite possibly even set for release as soon as 2016 or 2017. When he was asked about whether they're actively working on a big screen adaptation for the Sorcerer Supreme, he said: "Dr. Strange is something that I talk about often and it’s sort of next up for us to dig into and explore. Our executive producer of Iron Man 3, having done Captain America: The First Avenger and as that was finishing he started working on the bones that would become Iron Man 3, and now that he’s finished with Iron Man 3, he’s working on the bones that would become Doctor Strange. Now that Iron Man 3 is finished, some of our quote-unquote spare time is going to be devoted to trying to crack Strange." Of course, what most fans will REALLY want to know is not if, but WHEN we will finally see the character join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Luckily, Feige had an answer for that as well! "As we look past 2015, past Avengers 2 and Ant-Man, I think Dr. Strange should be one of the next movies in the years following that." So, mark it down in your calendars comic book movie fans!

Cool, can't wait to see Dr. Strange. Not really a main Avenger though... Probably going to be the GotG of Phase 3 (Same universe but not an essential team member). They will need as many team members as possible if they are going up against Thanos/Villain stronger than Thanos in Avengers 3...

The action should all take place in other dimensions and the suspense and plot builds should take place in the regular plane. Kind of like the Matrix. That's how you crack it.

just hope they dont make him a shield agent, or a paranormal shield investigator because that's what I think they're going to do with him

Dormammu on the big screen? That thought alone is worth the admission.

Don't understand why you couldn't do a magical Mandarin, if you're introducing Strange.

So much Marvel news this week. [frick] YES. Warner/DC please be the same way when MOS comes out.

Agreed with @ABARy. I'd like for Strange to be more focused on the magic elements of the Marvel movieverse rather than be a essential team member. He can enter when they're facing a big enough threat.

I think they should make Baron Mordo the main villain for the first Dr Strange film and save Dormammu for the 2nd. They definitely should build up the D man and show him as a tease at the very end before the credits. However, with the first one being an origin story, a beginning Dr Strange just isn't ready to fight Dormammu yet. I would actually place him at #3 in Marvel's most powerful villains next to only Thanos and Galactus.

@oliverttom: Doubt BP is happening in Phase 3. My money's on that it's going to be the kick off movie for Phase 4.

@ Ocelot

BITE YOUR TONGUE! Don't even joke about something like that. They'll hear you. The Comic-Book-Movie-Corps' mantra is, "We have to make it more realistic or it won;t work on the big screen!"
and,
"Stop whining! It's only a movie!"
We need to remain strong.
Dr. Strange strong!

Dr. Strange shouldn't be an Avenger. I'd say do an Iron Fist movie, and another Hulk movie then do a Defenders movie.

It would be cool to see Hulk interact with another team. Plus you know people are going to see it. Because of just one thing.

HULK!

Everyone loved Hulk in Avengers they wouldn't miss him in another film.

Maybe once Doc is in service whit the magic elements, they could take a chance with the real Mandarin, I'm not complaining about IM3, it was a really fun movie, my wife enjoyed it a lot and want to go once again this weekend, but I'd love to see a more accurate rendition of him.
