Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE May Have A New Writer

Evidence arises from the mystical realms indicating that Jon Spaihts isn't the only writer aboard Scott Derrickson's otherworldly venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Hit the jump to find out who.

During production of his film Sinister (the film that most likely got Derrickson the part to direct Doctor Strange), he worked with writer C. Robert Cargill, his co-writer. They also spent a period of time developing a script for a Deus Ex: Human Revolution adaptation (which presumably is still in development purgatory). Most notably of this, however, is that Derrickson had Cargill on set every day for the course of filming, to get input on how the script was being translated to the screen. They also co-wrote the sequel, but Derrickson didn't direct that film

Just recently, the same writer announced on Twitter he had suddenly and suspiciously moved to London, right when Doctor Strange is about to start principal photography.

Then, that very night, he went to see the film's star, Benedict Cumberbatch perform Hamlet on stage: A temporary stay in London for someone who's worked closely with Derrickson in the past, seeing the performance of the film's main star for a period of time that wouldn't be out of place to match the principle photography of a feature film...if it is a coincidence, it would be an awful lot of coincidences happening at the exact same time. So what do you think? Is C. Robert Cargill really helping write the film or is it just a wacky happenstance of life?

This is probably for the best....the ONE thing I'm worried about is the dialogue, I read some of Jon Spaight's blacklisted scripts and they're very creative but there is almost no emphasis on character.

Doctor Strange is my all time favorite Marvel character. Looking forward to this. Even the 1978 TV movie had a few good things in it.

Man, I remember Cargill (Carlyle on the show) from back in his movie review days on Spill.com. He's sure moved up in the world and if he were writing this I'd be more excited. Sinister is one of my favorite modern horror films.

They should base the movie on the Ditko run or Doctor Strange:The Oath.

It's possible, but this isn't really news.

Also, does anyone know what comic book the artwork on the bottom of the page is from?

I wonder what accent Cumberbatch will be made to do. Personally, I'm hoping he's a pom.

@Th0rOdinson

AOU would have been a lot better had Marvel not forced Whedon inject Phase III storylines in it.

As far as I know, that's Fan Art

Can't wait for Doctor Strange

Knowing Marvel I wouldn't be surprised if we see something like this in the film though, ha
