Nicolas Cage Doesn't See Another Comic Book Movie In His Near Future

After two outings as Ghost Rider, Nic Cage shares his thoughts on his potential future in the comic book movie genre, saying that he doesn't see another film like that in his future. However, he does suggest one character he could play.

Nicolas Cage recently stated that he is unlikely to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze in a third Ghost Rider movie, saying that he is done with the franchise despite thinking that it was a financial success. But what does the actor - who very nearly played Superman and was offered the role of Scarecrow - think of his potential future in the comic book movie genre? Speaking with Hey U Guys while promoting Dreamworks' The Croods (out this Friday), Cage is asked if there are any other characters he would be interested in playing. Even though he's "open to anything", he doesn't sound like he's in a hurry to return to the genre. However, he does suggest that he'd be interested in playing a certain Sorcerer Supreme. "I'm open to anything. I just, y'know, want to try something else, try something new. Doctor Strange is interesting, but I don't know. Right now I'm in a phase where I'm more interested in going back to my roots and doing independently spirited dramatic films. That's sort of what I'm in process with right now. I don't really see another comic book film anytime soon."

Interestingly, director Roman Coppola (Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III) wanted to make a Doctor Strange film back in the 90s, and thought that Cage would be perfect for the role of the Marvel character. With plans for a movie based on the Sorcerer Supreme set for Marvel's Phase Three, would you like to see Cage in the role?

When he gets a role when he plays a normal human being he doesn't go over the top. It's not his fault for a lot of shit he gets, he's not the one picking what take to use in the cut that gets shown. He could be brilliant and we would never know

I don't mind seeing him in another cbm, just not as the main hero. Maybe a side villain.

Cage needs to get back to his more grounded movies, like Adaption and Moonstruck. He's a great actor really, he just needs to know how to decline a role.

I thought he was good in a few movies. VERY few movies. Neither of those was Ghost Rider or its horrific, shitfest of a sequel.

He may do ok as a villain sometime but stay away from Dr. Strange.

What do you guys think of a new Ghost Rider series of films? Based on the old west cowboy Ghost Rider from the first film. For example kind of like Hex The Ghost Rider what are your thoughts on that?

FINALLY. THIS GUY CAN BE SUPERB IN DRAMAS.
Adaptation, Leaving Las Vegas.

Let him do something like KickAss, a pastiche

But no more action movies, please.

@Nomis- After watching GR:SOV I wanted my 3.99 and my hour and half back with interest.
By comparison, it made FF:Rise of the Silver Surfer Oscar worthy.

He wants to do new things and go back to his indie roots...

I guess that's why he's doing Stolen (a big budget rip off of Taken).

Please stay away from Doctor Strange, Nick Cage.

No no no. Jim caveziel for dr. Strange. If u don't believe me go look at pics of him from count of monte cristo (2001 I think). Jim is a spitting image of strange...

Nick - seriously...stop buying islands and castles and stop blowing your money, so u don't have to keep taking every sh*t acting job that comes your way.
