RUMOR: Is This The Plot Of DOCTOR STRANGE?

According to Latino Review, Doctor Strange will be an origin story that adheres to the source material pretty closely.  Not a huge surprise, considering it's Marvel Studios.  However, the report goes into specifics, describing the opening scene in the film.  Apparently the story opens in 1968  Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal) where some dark magic users open a portal to another dimension (probably making first contact with Dormammu, methinks).  Leading the dark arts practitioner is a character named Kaecilius, who has ties to Baron Mordo in the Marvel Comics lore.  From this first contact, the scene shifts to present day NYC, where we meet Doctor Strange, a gifted but arrogant surgeon.  Reportedly, Strange damages his hands in a car accident while talking on his cell phone and even several surgeries from Dr. Nicodemus West are not enough to restore functionality to Strange's fingers.  His medical career is effectively over.  Apparently his quest for a cure leads him to magic and subatomic particles (Kevin Feige previously stated that the MCU's first introduction to the mystical realm would be in Ant-Man) and eventually to the doorstep of the Ancient One.  Apparently, Strange's journey to find the Ancient One is what is currently being filmed in Nepal.  That's all the site has to report for now but more details will surely make their way online in the coming months as filming continues.

Doctor Strange arrives in North American theaters on
November 4, 2016.

Couldn't he just become a general practitioner or something that doesn't require him to do delicate surgeries? but hey what do I know about medicine.

Oh man, does it have 3 acts, a protagonist and a villain? I hope not, Marvel is so formulaic.

Sounds like the original origin story. Good. They need to keep it close, I'm sure there will be some surprises to the plot.

@ThePowerCosmic

I know right? They'll probably sell out and give Strange powers or tools that makes him special. Heck, he might even talk to other characters! So formulaic.

I have an IM/Winter Soldier feeling about this movie. I think it will end up one of the very best.

I like that Marvel has always succeeded in delivering yearly two completely different movies when it comes to subgenres.

The two that are the closest are IM and TIH but even there, it's an origin story versus a sequel of some sort.

Then you have the first Thor current day introduction story versus CA period piece set in WWII.
Later after TA, a political thriller CA versus space opera GOTG.

And the the ensemble sequel, AOU versus an heist origin movie in Antman.

Next year, will be big scale politically driven CA Civil war versus a more contained origin movie focusing on magic and mystricism with Dr Strange.

I like how they order and vary their offer.

I like that there are able to limit redundancy in subgenre and make the two yearly movie as different as possible.

Actually next year for Marvel feels more similar to this year

Civil War is an Avengers movie

And Doctor Strange is a new franchise, introducing a new element and power into the MCU

General surgery getting less tail. USMLE average are less than the internist now. Also, robots can do the surgery too these days. Orthopedics and plastics still probably get the tail though...

Can't wait for Strange

But, ah, I hope this isn't true, unless Pym is involved, that could make it worthwhile for me, but if they connect it without Pym that will feel like another cop out to me

I didn't really like how the scepter was Utilized in AOU, or that Vision has an infinity stone in his forehead

Still, Cumberbatch rocks, looking forward to seeing him as Strange
