A Pretty Great "Titans" TV Show Fan Cast

A Pretty Great "Titans" TV Show Fan Cast

Although I had never been a fan of the animated series, I have been well exposed to the Teen Titans/Young Justice comic book series. I also watch literally every TV show I can find. Thus using my knowledge I've compiled a dream cast for the roles of the Titans.

In order to maintain realism, and ensure that this list gets attention from the casting directors working for Warner Bros and TNT, I've made a list of quality assurance standards that I had to follow before I could cast an actor in any particular role.

The casting was completed by meeting the following standards:

  1. The actor must be available. Not attached to any show beyond the year 2014/2015.
  2. They have a solid range of acting ability.
  3. They must have experience in a long run TV show, with fan following.
  4. They must be physically fit and/or capable.
  5. They must have a good reputation in the media.
  6. They must fit the physical description of the character.
  7. The actors are under the age of 30.

Lets Begin:

1. Nightwing- Darren Kagasoff (The Secret Life of an American Teenager)

Darren Kagasoff's acting was very impressive during his years on The Secret Life of An American Teenager. I had just seen the show on Netflix, and I was pleasantly surprised by the acting. Usually teen shows don't cast actors who are capable of handling deeply emotional scenes and can play tortured characters. They usually go for the looks. But with Kagasoff, they struck gold as he had both.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

THR: How do you think you've evolved as an actor after playing a character for such a long time?

Kagasoff: "Being on the set, in general, you grow that way. Being around it, watching people work. We had a lot of guest stars, a lot of people who had been working for a long time; watching the other actors act. I take my craft and work very seriously so it wasn't like after I left the set I screwed around. It was the grind for five years."

2. Raven- Janel Parrish (Pretty Little Liars)

Janel Parrish is a multi-talented actress, who was killed off the popular teen drama Pretty Little Liars this season. One of the reasons her character was killed off from the show is because she simply out grew the genre, both by age and by her acting ability. Her range of emotions and her ablility to portray a complex character that struggled with mental illness - more than often outshined the main cast. When it comes to portraying the level of complexity in the character of Raven, Parrish will be able to deliver.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

THR: What will you miss most about Mona in the present day?

Parrish: "I've gone through a lot of phases on the show as far as her character arcs. They've been insane and intense and extreme. I don't think I'll miss any of it though, because I think it'll still be present in flashbacks. I think you'll see flashbacks of different parts of her personality and all those different arcs will all be shown. I'm not sad about missing anything."

3. Starfire- Katie Leclerc (Switched at Birth)

Anyone who has seen Katie Leclerc in the ABC Family show Switched at Birth will tell you that at first they thought Katie actually spoke with a deaf accent. During the shows run, the actress has been able to draw audiences in by portraying a deaf teen struggling with being switched at birth and meeting her real parents at the age of 15. While simultaneously signing, speaking, moving, and acting out emotionally charged scenes- the actress begs the Emmy's to pay attention. The actress has the acting chops, the physical structure, the confidence level and the hair doe to pull off the fanboy favourite Starfire

In an interview with We Love Soaps:

Katie LeClerc: "I don't think I've ever been challenged this much at all. It's really exciting to come into work every day and do all the stuff an actor always has to do—hit their marks, find the cameras, remember their lines—and then to do it while thinking in both English and in American Sign Language... and then putting the accents on top of it! I really feel like my professional career has reached another level. The great thing is that we've all become very close on set, and everyone is so amazing—including Constance, by the way, who is learning sign language!"

4. Beast Boy- Paul James (Greek)

Paul James helped ABC Family break records when he appeared on television as the first openly gay African-American character. He was able to handle the pressure as critics and audiences beyond the target market of ABC Family's Greek began to tune in to see how this young actor takes on such a heavy burden. And he delivered with class. James is also athletic, and has a big pressense on screen. He is able to switch between comedic and dramatic dialogue effortlessly, which is a key attribute in the role of Beast Boy. I highly recommend this casting.

5. Wonder Girl/Cassandra Sandsmark- Andrea Bowen (Desperate Housewives)

Desperate Housewives was once the most popular TV comedy in the world. Andrea Bowen had become a recognizable face to viewers in Europe, Asia and beyond. Appearing as the daughter of Teri Hatcher's (Lois and Clark) character, Andrea became a fan favourite quite fast. However, the actress hasn't done much since the show had ended, sort of disspearing after a few seasons. Standing at a 1.65m, the blonde beauty has the physical structure and acting experience to portray Wonder Girl. Quite possibly the weakest link in the cast- she will make up for it through her charisma and appeal.

PS: While compiling this list, I realized that ALL of these actors had previously worked for ABC or ABC family.

What do you think? Who else should be on TITANS?

Yeah maybe this cast could work.

Wow I actually LOVE this cast!
I've wanted Darren for Nightwing for so long! The only problem is I'm not sure how good of an actor he is, I've only see him on The Secret Life, and everyone is bad on that show, even Shailene Woodley, now look at her! So I'm sure he has more dramatic talent.

Never ever thought of Janel Parrish as Raven! She grew on me on PLL where she plays a very dark character, so cool choice here!

And bravo on the rest!

I think Paul James should be Cyborg instead of Beast Boy

Not to mention Bowen's had a brush with the DCU before--she voiced Talia Al Ghul on Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

I wanna add Britt Robertson as Terra

- I haven't watched TSLOAAT to see Daran in action in action. But my choices for Nightwing would be Steven R. McQueen (is he still being considered for the role) and Drew Roy.
- All good points about why Janel should be Raven. Pretty Little Liars is quite a solid show even for a fluff station like ABC Family. You could have me convinced. But I'd like to see her try out some feisty roles again.
- Haven't seen Switched at Birth yet. But I'll take your word if Leclerc also has the body and poise for Starfire.
- Even though he probably won't do TV, what do you think of Josh Hutcherson as Beast Boy. He was good in comedic roles in the past before The Hunger Games, and he's just as funy as JLaw in interviews. See, Greek is yet another ABC Family show I haven't seen, and you have so many actors/actresses from that channel that I haven't followed.
- Andrea Bowen is someone I have a crush on right this moment. Her face is a little Farrah Abraham-ish, but I would kiss her sweet body all over. But I haven't seen her do any roles that would suggest she would be a good Wonder Girl. Worse, I'm not familiar with Cassie Sandmark. Still, anything with that peach is fine with me.

If you wanna add more characters, I have suggestions:
- Bat-Girl
- Batgirl (Cassandra Cain)
- Brother Blood
- Bumblebee
- Cyborg
- Deathstroke
- Duela Dent
- Doctor Light (Arthur Light)
- Jericho
- Kid Flash
- Miss Martian
- Ravager
- Red Robin
- Terra
- Wonder Girl (Donna Troy)

@RoadDog

Yeah you're right I think BUT it's interesting they've renamed the show to just "Titans" so I think, and since it's on TNT, we'll be getting a more adult cast.

Not bad list bro. I would like to see who you would pick for Kid Flash, Red Arrow, Bubblebee, Guardian, Aqualad, Aquagirl, Kid Devil, Cyborg & Troia.

Thank You for the support!

@CherryBomb - Give me a list of 5 villains and I'll have it done to you within 24 hours ;)

@RoadDogXXIV - I'll definitely do another list, but I won't include any roles that have already been cast on Arrow, Flash, etc. If I could, I'd have included Huntress in this list- to stand side by side with Nightwing.

Interesting fancast. I don't know who any of those actors are, but the the way that you explained why you chose each one made me pay attention.
