The Story Part 1

Working Title: Batman: Rebirth

Main Act 1: Prologue (No pre-film credits shown)

Boom! A series of explosions rocked two major banks in downtown Gotham area, while another explosion erupts from underneath the building that houses the Microbiology and Electronics section of the Applied Sciences division at Wayne Enterprises. Lucius Fox, the current CEO, calls the police and Police Commissioner James Gordon arrives at the scene to assess the damage. Three scientists are missing from the building. Fox then calls another number. “I don’t care where he is, this is his company. Patch me through”, he insists. Shortly after, in a somber tone, Fox tells the person on the other side of the phone, “It’s about time you come home.”

Story B

Near the port area outside Gotham bay, the thugs responsible for the theft are loading their cargo aboard a freight ship.  A man in a mask follows them. He is carrying a pair of batons.

Story A Scene 1: Surprise Board Meeting

A bearded Bruce Wayne enters the board room of Wayne Enterprises. Everyone was shocked to find out he was alive and well after all those years. Fox reintroduces Wayne as the President of Wayne Enterprises. Wayne sees a new face on the board, who introduces himself as Dr. Edward Reese, new head of the Applied Sciences division at Wayne Tech. Fox presided over the meetings top agenda was the recent heist in Reese's division. Reese reported among the items stolen are a germ formula being developed, revolutionary semi-conductor and some old low tech equipment that was scheduled for auctioning. Henry Bailey, the head of Wayne shipping, adds Zucco’s men have been beating up employees which are bringing down our shipping production.
After the meeting, Bruce approaches Lucius on why Reese was on the board. Fox tells him that he was appointed by Roland Daggett, senior board member and construction magnate to the division shortly before Daggett mysteriously disappears. Daggett once wanted to take over Wayne Enterprises until Fox assumed office. Reese was a brilliant inventor who dabbles also in genetics and computer engineering and who has a knack for solving puzzles and a prominent problem-solver in their division. It was this experience that majority
of the board approved Reese’s ascension after Daggett’s disappearance.

Lucius also shared the latest headline with Bruce: “Masked Freak Terrorizes Bludhaven Gangland”

“Are you in the suit again?” Lucius asks. “Of course not I was in Italy, with you-know-who?” and Bruce winks. Lucius asks if he is going to investigate again the matter of the heist. Bruce just shrugs his shoulders and says, “We’ll find out, won’t we?” Lucius simply smiles back and walks back to his office while Bruce goes down to his Lamborghini.

Main Scene 2:  Work underneath the Rubble

Edward Reese is seen working on his table. Close-up reveals that he is simply finishing up a crossword puzzle when his cellphone rings. It was Commissioner Gordon asking Reese if he (Gordon) can see him later. Reese agrees, puts down the phone and goes to his experiment table. The phone rings again, and when Reese answers, there was a fright in his face. He begins to look around and re-inspects his lab, shifting some of the piles of rubbles to look for something. He finds it; a small canister. He picks it up, looks around, and answers back “Yes it is done.”  He brings the canister near his working table and continues to finish the puzzle. At the background is a whiteboard with a large map of Gotham City, with several markings on it. Besides the whiteboard are clippings of the sightings of Batman.

Story B

In another town, there is a chase going on. Three hooded men are tied up and a fourth one running, with the guy chasing him from above the streets. The guy in the mask catches the hooded man and they fight. The masked man asks what the guy is doing and what was their plan, to which the guy replied that he (masked man) cannot stop events from unfolding, and that the pieces are in place. He then struggles to run but actually swallows a capsule with his free hand and resisted no more. The masked man hears sirens and ties up the guy, then leaves.

Story A Scene 3: Knight in Shadows.

A beeping signal has awakened a slumbering Bruce Wayne, sitting in front of large network of computers. He was looking over a series of police reports concerning the recent events while he was away for a few months. He glances at the screen and sees an image of a familiar Signal hovering on the screen. He turns off the beeping signal, walks over a few steps from his computer set up and a familiar black suit rises from the floor. “It’s been quite a while; let’s see if it still fits.”

Story B Scene 4:

A masked man is next seen on the rooftop of a building. He slowly moves down the fire escape and enters a small window.  He removes his mask and outfit, changes into plain clothes, places his batons in his closet and turns on the lamp on his table. Mails and bills are scattered on the center table while a badge and a pistol are seen on the left part. On the right part are framed pictures of seven people, presumably two families and one couple, one wearing bright red and green circus suits; another picture of a boy and two men, one balding and with a mustache, the other, an extremely popular billionaire playboy; the final picture, a man proposing to a woman on one knee. The man looks at his badge and quips “Tomorrow is another day in paradise”.

Main Scene 5: Back to Work

Meanwhile in the Applied Science department of Wayne Enterprises, Edward receives a letter from a mailing clerk marked urgent he hesitates to open it. Opening the letter Edward begins to read and he is surprised by what it says. As he continues to read Edward’s demeanor slip into a deep state of depression. Finally ripping up the letter he stares at the whiteboard in his office and mutters to himself “Time is but the stream I go fishing in.”

Bullock tells him it’s not but Gordon interrupts and says “This might be something else.
