I'm writing this as a fan of Batman who would like to settle the issue of him beating heroes that many might consider to be out of his league.

To settle things once and for all, I've prepared this Batman Vs. article. If this has been done before, I apologize.

Please give a good reason as to why the winner of the fight would win.

Just to be fair, these are all fights wherein the characters meet for the first time, are aware of each other but haven't had time to prepare.

Here are the matches I propose. Who would win? Please justify your answer.

Batman vs. Superman
Batman vs. Flash
Batman vs. Captain Marvel (Shazam)
Batman vs. Wolverine
Batman vs. Thor
Batman vs. Spider-Man
Batman vs. Hulk

all the opponents of batman have super powers,in every way batman is outclassed.

superman speed & strength it would be over in seconds just fly him into space.

the flash could hit batman 1000 times before he laid one punch on the flash.

captain marvel the power of six gods vs a human,do really need to explain this fight.

wolverine killer if he has to batman doesn't kill, you lose batman.

thor a god vs batman a human, nuff said.

every ability spider-man has would be vastly superior to batman, throw anything at spidey its avoided.

the hulk has had nuclear weapons dropped on him & survived batman ain't gonna do shit to him.

I'm with marvel72.

I just hate how Batman fans can try to justify him beating anyone. This is a guy who fights Riddler, Penguin... lots of regular people who have fancy gimmicks. In a real fight against someone with powers, I don't think Batman could win. I doubt he could even defeat Daredevil.

Hellboy would wipe the floor with Batman, after using him as toilet paper.

Batman vs Superman
Superman wins by a WIDE margin, even if Batman had Kryptonite he wouldn't even get a chance to use it. Because Superman can move faster than Batman can even think, one ultra-weak punch from Supes would KO Batman...heck, he might not even survive that. People always use Batman beating Superman as an example, but that story wasn't even canon so it doesent mean jack.

Batman vs Flash
Flash wins, Batman couldn't even see him when he's running...much less touch him...much less hurt him.

Batman vs Shazam
Shazam wins, what can Batman do? Unlike Superman, Shazam has no weakness like a green rock. He's pretty much invulnerable the only way to beat him is to be stronger than he is...Batman's strength is barely peak human.

Batman vs Wolverine
Wolverine wins, he's MUCH more skilled for one thing. He knows ALL forms of martial arts not just 127, he's a better tactician as well, he's got more combat experience than Batman and the entire Justice League combined. And his claws can slice anything, and hes just as fast as Spider-Man. So Batman couldn't run away, one slice and Bruce is a dead man.

Batman vs Thor
See "Batman vs Shazam" also he's more skilled than Bats, a depowered Thor once bested Captain America in hand to hand combat, he could beat the Bat even without any of his powers.

Batman vs Spider-Man
Spidey wins, Bats couldn't even get one hit on Spidey. Spider-Sense would warn him of Batman's attacks before they even come, he's faster and much stronger as well. Also, he's no slouch in the martial arts department...he's been trained by Wolverine and Shang Chi both of which are better martial artists than Batman. Spidey wins pretty easily...

Batman vs Hulk
Lol...Hulk wins, if Batman punches him, his arm will break...if he kicks him his legs will snap off. Heck, Hulk would win even if he just stands there, it's not even funny how badly Batman loses if Hulk goes on offense.

I'd say Daredevil is about the most powerful person that Bats could take down, and even then I don't know if he could do it. Any above DD's level could take him out pretty easy...

@Sotojuiceman
Even with prep, he couldnt beat any of these guys.
He's just too slow to hurt Spidey, Wolvie, Supes, Shazam and Flash...he couldn't catch them or even get one hit on any of them. They're just too fast...
As for Thor and Hulk, even if Bats had prep. What could he do? Theyre pretty much invulnerable, the only true way to beat them is to be stronger then them or have more firepower. Batman has neither...

Batman vs Punisher
Batman vs Cyclops
Batman vs Iron Fist
Batman vs Black Panther
Batman vs Winter Soldier

That's how this article should of been?

Come on guys who wins in my match ups?

Waiting for a crazed biased Batman Fanboy to throw in that prep time crap that they always do.
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 2/9/2013, 10:58 PM
@QuintanVos
Batman vs Punisher...
Batman wins hands down, Punisher's skill isn't even Hawkeye-level much less Batman-level.
Batman vs Cyclops
I'd give it to Cyke, one blast and the Batman's dead. Bats can dodge a few but he can't dodge them all.
Batman vs Iron Fist
Batman is more skilled, but Danny's chi would hurt him pretty badly so I say Iron Fist.
Batman vs Black Panther
Panther wins, he's much more skilled and Panther with prep can be more dangerous than Bats with prep, he's also a better tactician than Bats..Bruce didn't learn anything until he became an adult, Panther has been learning battle tactics and martial arts since he was just a little kid.
Batman vs Winter Soldier
Batman wins narrowly, I'd put Bucky at around Nightwing-level, so he could give Bats a decent fight but I think Batman would defintely win that.

But you are correct, those would've been more fair...

@ Sotojuiceman
Did he ever ACTUALLY bring down the entire Justice League? If I remember correctly, it was only theoretical. We don't know if he would've had the proper timing, determination and skill to pull it off, also what if he was finished defeating one of them and his stamina was low? And then what if one of the others had come up with a counter-plan? We don't know and I highly doubt that he could actually pull it off. If there was an instance I'm forgetting then feel free to correct me...

I love batman, he's my second favourite fictional character of all time after spidey, but he wouldn't beat any of these without preparation, and even with preparation he couldn't beat some of them I.e. spidey, Thor and hulk.
BatsFan
BatsFan - 2/10/2013, 6:35 AM
With preparation, Bats can beat all the of the DC heros and only Spiderman from the Marvel one.
aresww3
aresww3 - 2/10/2013, 6:48 AM
Batman can beat Wolverine and Spider-Man, if he had the right equipment on him. None of the rest.
Spiderman gets chased round the city in the Bat Plane, and Batman shoots him with missiles. [frick] spidey´s spider sense, sure he´ll see it coming, but he´s still getting hit.

Wolverine,
1. Batman has some kind of magnatized device or lures him into a Magnetic Chamber, that ends up with Wolverine unable to move. Then just leaves him there.
2. He can also use a knock out gas, what the [frick] is wolverine going to do then?
3.Batman usess a sound wave device that [frick]s with Wolverines enhanced sense of hearing, causing him to be completely disorientated, and then takes advantage of the situation. If they have a weakness and Bats knows about it, Batman can win.

Flash to fast
Hulk, Shazaam, Thor to strong and invulnerable. No weaknesses to exploit.
BatsFan
BatsFan - 2/10/2013, 7:10 AM
@aresww3 Yeah i did'nt thought of that for Wolverine.. but I dont think he would kill Spiderman, I would more [frick] with his sense take & out his wirst shooter.
Spideyguy94
Spideyguy94 - 2/10/2013, 7:12 AM
@aresww3 but batman is strongly against killing so I highly doubt he'd shoot a missile at spidey.

Were you inspired by Tower of Babel/Doom? Because my answers will be (somewhat). This disclaimer, however, is based very much against it (and similar stories). Writers don't like how overmatched Batman really is when teaming him up with someone who can fly around the world in a matter of seconds, summon a giant brick wall out of a power ring, tear a person's limbs off effortlessly, etc - because he's at a bit of a disadvantage. So they overcompensate to try and make Batman MORE interesting than he really needs to be. So far, Mike Mignola and Jim Starlin are really the few writers I know who truly understand this, and will not fall into that trap in a crossover event.

Bruce vs Clark
This showdown has been depicted a dozen times at least in the comics. Off the top of my head, my three favorite battles were in the beginning of "Hush", the middle of "Red Son", and of course, the end of "the Dark Knight Returns".

Clark wins. Consider that Bruce regularly carries his kryptonite ring - this should be all you really need to determine the outcome. Bruce is a loner, and he has no shortage of enemies, even among his friends. Clark is quite possibly the complete opposite. When he's outmatched, he doesn't rely on a special device to pull him out of danger - what he can rely on (even though he'd rather not) is the rest of the world's heroes backing him up in a crisis. So whatever traps Bruce may design for Clark, the Man of Steel will always have some way out.

Batman vs. Flash
Batman wins. Consider how easy it really is to stop the Flash. Strategically, all one needs to do is mail Barry or Wally something in a box, have him open it completely unsuspecting, and... well, I guess this might be where you would need something of an engineering degree. I point to Mirror Master's trap, where he opens a box and it fires a bolt through his wrist, attaching a bomb that will detonate if he slows down. Even that is far more elaborate than it needs to be - a strong tranquilizer or poison would be more than enough.

Bruce vs. Billy
Billy wins. I could go on about Captain Marvel's powers, but that's really not necessary. All Billy needs to do is call 911.

Bruce vs Logan
Logan wins, easily. Logan has at least 100 years on Bruce. Given that he is practically immortal, Bruce would have to resort to some extremely lethal methods in order to merely incapacitate Logan, and that really wouldn't last long enough to make enough of a difference. Surgery would be needed to separate the brain from his cranium, which is protected by indestructible adamantium. Unless Bruce has some way of neutralizing his mutant ability, Logan is going to keep healing from everything. In terms of combat, again, Logan has had 100 years to walk the Earth and learn any fighting style he desires. With the exception of the claws, the two are evenly matched, although I'd say Logan is the stronger fighter. There's also the fact that Logan doesn't mind killing people...

Batman vs. Thor
Thor wins. Identity means nothing here - it is about tools, muscle, and the battleground. Batman has a seemingly unlimited arsenal at his disposal, where Thor only has Mjolnir. Take Mjolnir away (not an easy feat), and Thor becomes an extremely strong boxer, who is (almost) the strongest there is. Although Thor considers himself the protector of Midgard, he's very much aware that he can't save everyone, and in the 80s death was all around him. If he has to kill someone in order to continue protecting the many, you better believe he's going to help them buy the farm. I honestly can't think of a way outside of mysticism that Batman could actually separate Mjolnir from Thor long enough to do anything.

The Dark Knight vs. The Wall Crawler
The Dark Knight wins. Spider-man doesn't kill people, even directly after Gwen was killed, Peter couldn't bring himself to go all the way and kill Norman. The only way to stop Batman is to kill him, because he's going to keep on coming. Some webbing might hold him back for awhile, and perhaps it would even keep him there long enough for the cops to show up, but what exactly are the police going to do? Now you might think this explanation negates both Superman and Captain Marvel, but the police aren't exactly looking to serve as Spider-man's errand boys - he's been on the wanted list just about as often as Batman. Besides, Batman would just grab a laser of some kind and cut through the webbing. Then he'd take a sample of the webbing home, find a way to neutralize it, and then proceed to sabotage Spider-man's webshooters/fluid.

The Caped Crusader vs. The Green Goliath
The Green Goliath wins. Let's say that the Hulk is riding the Batwing just as he clutching the jet in the 2003 movie. I'm going to say that that is Batman's way to get the Hulk into space, and that he'll have some pressurized compartment within the Batwing to put on an environment suit. All this does is deprive the Hulk of oxygen. The Hulk will regenerate the damage to his brain and lungs, as well as the resulting damage from the disuse of those muscles - so really the only way to beat him is to leave him in space. That's assuming that he'll stay in space for all eternity and no one will pick him up, or that he won't fall back to Earth (given the gravity of our magnetic core, that seems likely), and the problem will pop up just as it did last time. And then you know, what's to stop the Hulk from crushing Batman or damaging his environment suit?

@ ares

You're assuming that Batman has prep time with those things.

1. Who is tosay they around a magnetic chamber when fighting. The article says they have no prep time, so ita not like Batman would able to just lure Wolverine into a magnetic chamber anytime he feels like it.

2. Knock out gas wouldnt have much effect on Wolvie because of his healing factor. Its been shown numerous times that all types of poisons and gases dont work on him.

3. A sonic device could definately scramble his senses, but again, you're assuming Batman has one at the ready. Lets assume he does though. It would still only be temporary. The bottom line is that in a fight, even with a sonic device, Batman wouldnt be able to keep Wolvie down because of his healing factor. yes, Batman is a better fighter than Wolverine, but so are a lot of people. But having a healing factor that is as good Wolvie's gives him a huge advantage.

People like Batman, Cap, and Spidey could definately put up a good fight against him, but eventually Wolvie would outlast them and win. Every attack they land on him would have virtually no effect after a minute or two, while every attack Wolvie lands will not heal, and the damage he dishes out will begin to add up and where them down.

Even if Batman somehow manages to separate Thor from Mjolnir, Thor still wins. There's absolutely nothing Bats can do. NOTHING.

@corndoburglar - it depends what you mean. if you drop these guys from out of nowhere, and put them in a match together, Batman wouldn´t beat anyone, so there is no point asking the question. Batman could face Gambit or even Beast and he wouldn´t win. its a nulandvoid question.
However, I think this is fair: take all Batmans attributes, accept he is allowed to use lethal force in this scenario. Batman has no prep time, but he knows his enemies powers. When he discovers he has to face the opponent, he has quick time to pack his jet or car with the weapons he needs before, heading off quickly to battle. Thats when my options come into play.

In that scenario of that list he could only beat 3 guys: Superman, Spidey and Wolverine.

Obviously he has to be able to use lethal force as can his foes. I mean what are we trying to say here, that spidey and wolverine can use lethal force but Batman can´t? or are you trying to say in a straight up fight who will win till knock out? cause thats just a stupid question its obvious. The only other thing you can be saying is that Wolverine and Spidey have to just stop Batman, i.e. somehow trap him. Well again, that will workout in Batmans favor because, he can pretty much escape any situation you put him in, and once he´s escaped will no spidey or wolverines weakness and use it against them.
I´m not a blind Batman fan like some, who say with prep time he can beat anyone. thats just silly, but because of these fans who have said that suddenly the tide has turned and now its trendy to say everyone can beat Batman. Which is just not true. I would say the exact same of Lex Luthor or The Joker.

Finally, I don´t think Batman is a much better fighter than Wolverine, but he is much smarter. Wolverine may well be the superior fighter with his powers and many 100 of years of training.
Also some one said poisoness gas or knock out gas does not affect Wolverine. Pure Bullshit. The Sentinals have frequently used it on him, sure he can heal from it, but not immediately. It will knock him out, giving Bats the time to do what he needs to keep wolverine trapped.
Also another person said Batman wouldn´t carry this kind of gas on him, again, thats a load of crap. He always has that kind of stuff on him.I can understand the objection to a magnetic chamber, but come on lets get serious, knock out gas is basic attire for even Bruce Wayne.

Great stuff guys. Loving most of the answers. But I honestly don't see how Batman could beat any of these guys even with prep time. (Assuming both sides have prep time.)

At the end of the day, Batman is still a man. Landing the wrong way from a jump could snap his ankle. A stray bullet could kill or cripple him. There are too many ways for him to be beaten. Now think of this.

One punch from any of the guys listed would potentially kill or cripple Batman. (We're not talking normal guys here.) Wolverine's bones are adamantium. Flash is too fast for a human to avoid. And so on.

Batman reveals the identity of all fighters and rolls around in his money. Effectively sending bad guy after bad guy at these fighters, well most of them. He continues to swim through his cash.

^like, batman can concieveably beat anybody up to spiderman power level, over that would have to be extreme situations that batman himself set up, a la tower of babel, for guys spiderman level and below hes got the tools on his utility belt at all times to deal with them, plus remote access to his car and batwing for missile launch etc, look at how he and nightwing took out the amazo clone with all of the jlas powers, if he could do that to something with the powers of flash and superman and wonder woman then hes got a good chance of koing spiderman or wolverine, any of the others you listed would [frick] him up though, as for that other guys list, punisher- no problem...cyclops- no problem....iron fist and black panther- awesome fights; movie fight sequences galore but i think with his tools and superior tactics batman would get the wins on these two, out of human level people, batman and captain america are the top dogs in thier universes
