Captain America
Part 0
Hey guys, so this is my first attempt at any kind of fan-fic but, despite being Canadian, Captain America is my favourite hero and I’ve wanted to do this for a while so here it is. Enjoy.

1913
A lone one-story farmhouse sits atop a hill In the German country side. It is raining hard but there is light emanating from the window.
A woman is lying on the bed screaming. Beside her a doctor holds her hand.
He says (in German with subtitles) “push, I can see the head, Push.”
The woman screams louder and finally stops. The doctor wipes the baby clean and brings it up to the mother.
“It’s a boy; A nice strong boy. You should be proud”
She smiles but clearly the whole ordeal has taken a lot out of her. She reaches up to take him from the doctor. As she cradles it in her arms she manages to say a single word.
“Johann……”
The doctor calls to her and tries to resuscitate her but is unable. She is dead.
Sometime later a man stumbles inside out of the rain. he is clearly drunk. He looks around the house before noticing the doctor, sitting slouched in a chair; cradling the baby. As the man takes a step toward the doctor he sees his wife. Dead. Lying on the bed.
The door slams shut due to the storm and the doctor looks up. Noticing the man for the first time. “Mr. Schmidt” he says “I apologize for your loss. You have my condolences.” For a time, the man makes no moves. “Hermann, I want you to know, if you need any help. My wife and I will—“
Interrupting the doctor, he steps closer, extends his arms and asks for the baby. The doctor begins to do so but, upon noticing the level of inebriation he has reached, refuses to hand over the baby. Instead offering him the chair he had been sitting in previously.
While at first it appears the man will comply, out of nowhere he back hands the doctor. Knocking him to the floor. Picking the baby out of the injured doctor’s hands, the father heads straight out the door, into the raging storm outside.
As the rain comes down, he turns to a cluster of barrels stored at the side of the house, to collect rain water. Hate in his eyes, he proceeds to lift the baby over his head and prepares to drown it.
Just as he is about to do it, he falls to the ground clutching his head. The Doctor stands behind him holding a candle stick. Saying nothing, the doctor takes the baby and runs off into the night. Into the storm.
Hermann Schmidt gets to his feet. Looks after the fleeing doctor and his son and returns to the house. There is silence for a few seconds and then, a gunshot rings out into the night.
1923
A small German orphanage in Berlin.
A Woman hurries down the hall and past a group of children. She sees a crowd and pushes past them into the middle. Where she finds a young boy. Beaten and bruised. The rest of the children scatter as she picks the boy up. Before the boy passes out in her arms, he sees another child motion to keep his mouth shut.
Sometime later, he wakes up to find her standing over him.
“Johann. What was that all about? I’ve heard from the other children that you hit Benedict from behind for no reason.”
Johann didn’t answer. He just looked down. Staring at the floor. The woman continued.
“Look at me when I am talking to you.” She grabbed him by the cheeks and pulled his eyes so they matched hers. “This is the third altercation in as many weeks. If you can’t play nice with the other children then I’m sorry but we can’t keep you here.”
Johann turns, looking into the mirror across from his bed.
Later that night, Johann lies awake in his bed. The group of children from earlier begin to creep around him. Just as they’re about to jump on him and attack, Johann sits up. Slashing one child in the next with a shard of glass and stabbing another in the shoulder with it.
As the rest of the children scream he takes a quick look at his bruised self in the now broken mirror, grabs the bag he’s hidden under his bed, containing all his possessions and he runs out of the building and into the dark of the streets.
1932
Inside a Luxurious German Hotel in Berlin a now 19 year old Johann Schmidt works
as a bellboy. He uses his job to steal from the guests. Checking to see he is alone, Johann opens the door to one of the guest’s rooms. Steps inside and proceeds to open the safe and remove the valuables stored within. Once he’s done he leaves and returns to the vacant hallway. He opens the door to another room, however, once inside he hears the sound of a group of men. One is yelling at the others. Inside we find Hitler and several other members of his staff.
“Strucker you are utterly incompetent. All of you. You lack discipline. You are a disgrace. In fact—“noticing the young bellhop now standing in the hallways listening. “In fact, I bet I could turn this boy her into a better Nazi than any of you. Come here boy. What is your name?”
Johann approached slowly, unsure of what he should do.
“Johann Sir.”
“A good strong, German name. Do you know who I am Johann.”
“Yes sir. Everybody knows you. I’ve heard you speak of returning Germany to its former glory.”
“And would you like to be a part of that Johann?” Hitler looked into the young man’s eyes and saw the truth. He saw a rage. A Rage at the world. A desire to rule. To conquer. To control.
Schmidt nodded. His time had come.
