Casting Commissioner James Gordon in Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice

Actors to consider for the upcoming film as Commissioner James Gordon

One of Batman's closest allies in the fight against crime in Gotham. His honesty and righteousness set him apart from his corrupt colleagues in the GCPD in his earlier days as a Detective. Rising to the role of Commissioner, he bought back some integrity to the Police Force. Sometimes has to look the other way when it comes to Batmans unorthodox methods of dealing with crime. Recently portrayed by Gary Oldman in The Dark Knight trilogy, and by Ben McKenzie in the prequel show Gotham.
Here are my choices in no particular order:

Stephen Lang
A good actor, with a solid filmography. In addition to being a film actor, he has also starred in Broadway Theatre as well as being a playwright, he has also been nominated for a Tony Award. In my opinion he would be a solid choice and would bring intensity to the role, as well great physicality as he is still in good shape, also has the masculinity for the part. Has previously played an FBI agent in Public Enemy, as well as the evil Colonel Miles Quaritch in Avatar. A fan favourite for the part of Cable in the Marvel Universe. At 62 years of age would be a convincing counterpart to Ben Affleck’s older Batman.

Robert Patrick
The T1000 himself.  Another actor with a varied filmography playing both good guys and bad guys.  Has previously played a Police Officer in Gangster Squad, where he played a mentor role. Would play the seasoned Commissioner  with vigour and Heroism.

Michael Keaton
The original Batman himself.  Currently starring in Birdman a film which is getting rave reviews from critics. Personally would love for him to play an older Batman. I think Keaton would bring a likeability to the role. Again someone who has starred in films of various Genres, including comedy, romance, Sci FI.

Tom Selleck
Already has the moustache, and looks damn good with it. At 6 foot 3 ½ would bring a presence to the role. Currently starring as a Police Commissioner in Blue Bloods.  Has starred in both comedies as well as dramas. Famously played Thomas Magnum as well.

Dennis Quaid
Another actor who has kept himself in fantastic shape as he has got older.  Would bring a certain strength and toughness to the role.  Was excellent as the Sheriff in Las Vegas. Again has starred in films of various Genres.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Quite young at 48 but I’m sure with a bit  of hair dye and make up can be made to look a bit older. Has played the heroic yet tortured John Winchester in Supernatural, as well as the Comedian. Would bring a manliness to the role.

Brian Cranston
A fan favourite for the role.  Would have come to most peoples notice in Malcolm in the Middle, but his best known role is that of Walter White, where he displayed his acting ability. His range as an actor would be the thing that he brings to the role.

You have a very nice selection here. Although I prefer Robert Patrick for The Dark Knight Returns Batman.

And I have to admit, my pick for James Gordon would have to be Brad Pitt, mainly due to his performance in Se7en (which is a film that I highly recommend).

Anyway, I hope you post more casts soon!

@MrBlueSky thanks again for the feedback. Pitt would be awesome, and was also great in 12 Monkeys, Se7en is a great film. Looking forward to your fancasts.

@MrNiklander. Cannot see the film makers being that original For a film that is going to lead into the Justice League, I think they'll stick with the more well known characters.
Remember after MOS some people were like, Where is Lex Luthor?

I know it's become a popular choice, but Cranston has always been my pick.

Dream choice is Tom Hanks, but that'll most likely never happen

@RedNTheHood, now that would be thinking outside the box. Tom Hanks is awesome.

I would like to see Tom Selleck as James Gordon. I also think he could make a great older Bruce Wayne for Batman Beyond. RedNTheHood interesting idea of Tom Hanks, but I would prefer to see him be Jay Garrick instead.

@DrunkenNukem hmmmmmm....still rumoured at this point, hopefully true though.
@MantiniuMan maybe if Affleck directs Justice League or a sequel, loved The Town and Argo.
@BlackIceJoe He would make a good older Bruce Way as he is almost 70.

Keaton took me offguard. It'd be a great nod (and he's up to it).

But Cranston is my choice. He just is Gordon for me. Today, Tommorrow, and Forever.

Harrison Ford is my number one pick. If we're getting an older Batman might as well get an older Gordon.

Stephen Lang has been my pick. Keaton would feel too much lie stunt casting. The others are all decent, but to see why Lang would be great, just watch him in Public Enemies.

Wolf38 - 10/15/2014, 5:51 PM
I hope that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is Thomas Wayne. Would love that. But I could go for just about any of these guys for Gordon, except Dennis Quaid. Probably not Robert Patrick either for me, although he is solid.
