In order for Fox to keep the rights to one of their most favoritized comic book anti heroes, they've decided to reboot the original. (Which in my defense, kinda blows cause if this didn't happen we'd see the rights revert back to Marvel and we'd finally get to see a decent Daredevil movie).

I can't say I didn't like the first one because I did, but it wasn't my most favorite comic book movie either. Ben Affleck was a great Matt Murdock but a terrible Daredevil, i didnt feel Elektra was needed and Bullseye would've been that much better if he had his original costume.

This probably isn't much of a surprise since there has been talk about a reboot ever since Disney bought Marvel. News Corp VP Peter Chernin producing and David Scarpa (The Day The Earth Stood Still 2008) is writing a script.

But wouldn't it be cool to see Daredevil back with Marvel so we could have the possibilities of having a Punisher/Daredevil team up movie or a Marvel Knights movie. With Fox wanting to have a shared universe with their characters, the only other heroes we'd see in Daredevil is the X-men or the Fantastic Four which would be stupid considering the fact that because how would they explain that. Well they could explain it in many way but it'd probably be stupid. And it probably won't be a cameo, it'll probably be a 1 second reference.

So what do you think, do you want to see Fox develope a Daredevil reboot or would you prefer the rights went back to Marvel. I'd want to see the rights go back to Marvel. But if Fox ends up making the movie, then I want to see
Micheal C. Hall as Matt Murdock A.K.A Daredevil.

P.s. If Fox goes Baraka Pool on this i will personally lock myself in a closet and cry.

P.s.s. When i said if they go Baraka Pool on this, I mean't it being Fox's way Of screwing up. So Fox screw ups A.K.A the Baraka Pool.

Daredevil: Director's Cut was great.

Marvel should have the right back by now. It's been almost 6 years since a Daredevil related film. (Almost 8 years since an actual Daredevil film)

I thought they already were developing one. Didn't they hire David Scarpa back in Feb to do the script.

ironman95 is right,
Director's Cut was great, nothing was wrong with the film really unless a bullseye costume really made you that angry,
just the theatrical release was garbage edited censored

My question is: when exactly would the rights revert back to Marvel? I can't seem to find a good answer on that? For DD, FF, Ghost Rider (even though that looks like it's in production now).

So...anyone know EXACTLY when rights would revert back to Marvel? Anyone? Bueller?

No, they would have to have something in production, they can't just say they're making a film. The reason Roger Corman made that crap-ass FF movie is because if he didn't he was going to lose the rights.

It's use it or lose it. The question is, when would you lose it?

Alex Proyas would make a good director for the reboot!... Snyder wouldnt be bad either!

Chris Pine, Michael C. Hall or Jeffrey Donovan as Daredevil!... Hall would make a great Mr. Fear too!
Michael Fassbender as Bullseye!

I would like to see The Hand and Kirigi in the reboot too!

I'm upset that marvel doesn't have the rights to this but I'm sure they'll try harder to get Daredevil right this time. Marvel upped the anti these last couple of years and I think Fox would do well to follow their lead.

Guys, I just don't understand why fox does this. they could make MORE money by making a better movie. Daredevil is a critically acclaimed series that's been around for a long time because it's already great. all they have to do is follow the source material (tone, story, etc) and they could get the fans onside and the interest of non-fans. why is this concept so hard?

@80sFace

The information you want is not public knowledge. But Fox and Sony can keep the Characters as long as they wish. As long as they are making money off of them in any form whatsoever they cannot let go.

Sorry to say it but there is no end in sight for those who are in the grips of Hollywood.

NY Times...

When Disney was preparing to buy Marvel...

"Acquiring Marvel makes Disney a partner with Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment and 20th Century Fox, all of which have long-term deals to make or distribute movies based on superhero characters. Sony holds the film rights to Spider-Man, for instance, while Fox has the X-Men and Fantastic Four — in perpetuity."

I think the DareDevil costume was probably the best part of the movie. Far better than the old fashioned trunks/tights look DD normally has going.

So basically the only way Marvel gets the rights back to its properties is to buy them out, or buy them back rather. How much would that cost? I'd estimate Fox's asking price for X-Men would be equal to their expected gross revenue for at least five X-films, just speculation, but a sold price would be in the high several hundred million. Spider-Man's price would be through the roof considering the franchise has made Sony more than a billion worldwide with just three films, based on the so-so performance of DD, Ghost Rider, and FF Marvel could buy them back at a much lower cost. Lions Gate practically gave Punisher's rights back to Marvel after the Warzone debacle. So who knows, if the upcoming reboots flop horribly, which I doubt, maybe one day Marvel will be able to purchase the rights.

For those who wonder why Disney doesn't just offer to make the buyout for Marvel, it just doesn't work that way. Though Disney owns Marvel, basically seeing it as an employee who must perform and turn a profit for them. It will not provide capital for purchasing on their behalf, imagine asking your boss for a loan. Borrowing cash from the big guy won't happen. If Marvel gets into a financial bind Disney will simply dissolve Marvel Studios into itself and then the Marvel characters would just be released under the Disney Banner. Even though Marvel's films have thus far been successful, it is still a very small studio compared to Sony, Fox, and Paramount and simply doesn't have the cash on hand to play with the big boys or offer them the kind of money to even make them consider selling the rights back for their outsourced properties.

The cost would be so high as to make all the involved Characters rather unprofitable to say the least. Don't forget all the merchandising that goes along with a film. There is a hell of a lot of money involved.

And just for the record here... Is this article based on anything vaguely news-like?

i think the reboot is a ploy so they can keep the rights as long as possible

The guy who is writing the current script did the remake of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'. I loved the old original the the new one was just kinda pointless is perhaps the word.

Bendis might be get involved. I would not be surprised. I suppose it depends on how much money, and control, he would want.
