Welcome to the second part of two parts of my re-imagining of the DC Cinematic Universe.  In my last article I wrote up my idea for the first 10 movies in the DC Cinematic Universe, which can be seen by clicking here: DC Cinematic Universe Re-Imagined Part 1

A quick summary of that follows:
1. Superman (2013) dir. Frank Darabont
2. Wonder Woman (2014) dir. Patty Jenkins
3. The Flash (2014) dir. Phil Lord and Chris Miller
4. Justice League (2015) dir. David Yates
5. Batman: Court of Owls (2015) dir. Matt Reeves
6. Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps War (2016) dir. Alex Garland
7. Aquaman (2016) dir. Guillermo Del Toro
8. Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2017) dir. J.J. Abrams
9. Justice League: Tower of Babel (2017) dir. Sam Mendes
10. Batman: Under the Hood (2018) dir. Matt Reeves

Some actors, storylines, and directors are just like the actual DCEU, but most are changed for what I believe (and you may not agree) would be for the better.  Without further ado, here is my second and last part of my re-imagined DC Universe.

11. Green Lantern: War of Light (2018)
director: Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Oblivion, Only the Brave)
screenwriter: Michael Arndt (Oblivion, Toy Story 3)
story: Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Sunshine) and Geoff Johns (Green Lantern: Rebirth)

“Sinestro and his corps was only the beginning.  As the Guardians’ prophecy of a war of light starts to become reality, the Green Lantern Corps must attempt to keep the peace, if they can stay alive long enough.”

12. Wonder Woman: Heir to the Gods (2019)
director: Patty Jenkins (Monster)
screenwriter: Christopher Hampton (Atonement, A Dangerous Method)
story: Patty Jenkins

“As the god of light Apollo attempts to usurp the throne of Olympus from his father Zeus, a young mortal woman named Zola, pregnant with Zeus’s child, is being hunted by the god queen Hera.  Wonder Woman is Zola’s and Olympus’s only hope.”

13. DC: Throne of Atlantis (2019)
director: Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, The Shape of Water)
writer: Guillermo Del Toro

“Soon after Aquaman is overthrown as king of Atlantis by his brother Orm, a war between the surface world and the Atlanteans erupts.  As the Justice League responds to the threat, Aquaman is caught between his team and his family.”
*note: Much like Captain America: Civil War was partially a Captain America movie and partially an Avengers movie, Throne of Atlantis would partially be an Aquaman movie and partially be a Justice League movie.

14. Suicide Squad (2020)
director: S. Craig Zahler (Brawl in Cell Block 99, Bone Tomahawk)
writer: Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Ultimatum, State of Play) and S. Craig Zahler

“A ruthless U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of incarcerated superpowered criminals for a black-ops mission too dirty for superheroes, and too clandestine to be traced back to the U.S government.  These inmates must decide whether to accept her devious missions in the name of democracy, or rot in jail.  The catch is, most operatives don’t make it back alive.
“Their mission: travel to the middle eastern nation of Kahndaq and assassinate the recently empowered dictator Black Adam.  But this dictator is rumored to have some metahuman abilities of his own.”

15. The Flash: Rogue (2020)
director: Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods)
writer: Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, The Martian)

“A group known as the Rogues has set up a jailbreak from one of the most dangerous meta-human prisons.  It’s up to the Flash to prevent any more from escaping, while catching the super-powered convicts that already escaped and are causing havoc across Central City.  This might be too much for just one Flash to handle – it’s a good thing he has help this time.”

16. Batman: Hush (2021)
director: Matt Reeves (Let Me In, War for the Planet of the Apes)
screenwriter: Christopher Hampton (Atonement, A Dangerous Method)
story: Matt Reeves

“Batman sets out to discover the identity of a mysterious mastermind using the Joker, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and the Dark Knight's other enemies - and allies - as pawns in a plan to wreak havoc.  But secrets from his past flood into the present, and the clues to Hush’s identity leave Batman with no one to trust.”
*note: To ensure the story operates as a mystery for both general audiences and comic fans, Hush’s identity will not be Thomas Elliot.  His identity would either be a new character created for the film, or a recurring character.

17. The Fall of Superman (2021)
director: J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls, The Impossible)
writers: Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight, Westworld) and Geoff Johns

“Lex Luthor is experimenting with cloning his very own Superman.  His first attempt came out distorted and bizarre, and was quickly defeated by Superman.  Then, soon after Clark Kent proposes to Lois Lane, an intergalactic weapon known as Doomsday is unleashed upon Earth.  With most of the Justice League members off-world, and the few remaining already defeated by the monster, Superman is Earth’s last chance at survival.  He would give everything, even his life, to defeat this threat.  Meanwhile, Lex Luthor’s latest cloning attempt shows much more promise, even if it has yet to reach maturity.”
*note: Bizarro is the brief opening villain ala Batroc in Winter Soldier, Doomsday is the main villain, Superman will die defending Earth (and you know J.A. Bayona would bring all the feels), and Superboy is revealed at the end or in post-credits.

18. DC: Blackest Night (2022)
director: Alex Garland (Ex Machina)
writer: Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later, Sunshine)

“As the War of Light continues in the cosmos, the Guardian’s prophecy of the Blackest Night - the end of all life in the universe - begins.  An army of undead Black Lanterns descends across the universe.  The various lanterns across the color spectrum must put aside their differences and unite with the Justice League to end the threat before it destroys all of existence.”
*note: Much like Captain America: Civil War was partially a Captain America movie and partially an Avengers movie, Blackest Night would partially be a Green Lantern movie and partially be a Justice League movie.
*note 2: This movie would also be like the Avengers: Infinity War of the DC Universe.  A giant threat that operates as a semi-finale to a universe.  There will be casualties, and the characters that started this universe would have less of a presence in future films.

19. Titans (2023)
director: Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man)
screenwriters: Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber (The Spectacular Now, The Fault In Our Stars, The New Mutants)
story: Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber

“Nightwing, Superboy, Impulse and Aqualad free Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy from Cadmus, a sinister genetic engineering base in the Alaskan wilderness. Fleeing across the artic cold, they are hunted by Deathstroke, a dangerous mercenary hired by Cadmus to bring the test subjects back.”
*note: The first movie after the universe's semi-finale Blackest Night.  This movie would act as a sort of 'next chapter' of the universe, introducing the next generation of heroes.

And that concludes my DC Universe Re-Imagined.  The universe would continue on after Teen Titans, but it's not something I plan on further developing.  Future movies could include: Wonder Woman 3, Flash 3, Teen Titans 2 + 3, Shazam, Swamp Thing, Gotham City Sirens, etc.  Furthermore, I imagine after another decade or so, the actual universe would finish with the movies Kingdom Come and Batman Beyond.
Do you agree with any of my choices? Do you hate all of them?  Let me know what you think and if you would do it differently below.
Thanks for reading!

Solid work my friend. Just as good, if not better than Part I.

- Kosinski is a solid choice for an entry in your GL Trilogy. Love how you've put Garland back in the director's chair by the time Blackest Night comes around. Elba would be a dream come true as John Stewart. Renewed loved for him after his turn as Heimdall in Ragnorok. The best of Thor films imo and Elba knocks it out of the park with what he has. Great to see Fiennes' Sinestro return for the sequel. His brother Joseph would be great for the part too, but it's hard to go wrong with Fiennes. The only one I'm unsure of is your Simon Baz choice, just not familiar with the actor.

- Much bigger fan of this Wonder Woman pitch than your previous. Fully embracing the Greek mythology is definitely the way to go. With the supporting cast you have I can actually envision Green as Diana a lot more than I could before. Hounsou as Apollo is definitely my favourite casting choice.

- A live-action adaption of Throne of Atlantis is a great idea to follow on from Aquaman's solo movie. Moore as Kaldur is a great choice. My personal pick for Orm opposite Momoa's Aquaman would be Edgar Ramirez, but Bardem is still solid.

- Your Suicide Squad pitch sounds much better than what he got. Kinnaman was miscast as Flagg, Neeson is a solid improvement. Also, love Burn Gorman as Scarecrow and Ana De Armas as Ivy.

- Revolori is a real out-of-the-box pick for Wally but is definitely something I'd love to see. In fact, your entire The Flash: Rogue cast is perfect. I can see Goggins and Edgerton having some really interesting chemistry.

- Great how you've given Reeves a whole Bat-Trilogy. Just not sure I agree with changing Hush's identity, though I can understand your reasoning behind the decision. Who would play him though? Amber Heard would make a helluva Catwoman, would much rather see her here than as Mera.

- The creative team (Bayona, Nolan and Johns) you've assembled for The Fall of Superman is spot-on! Hard to fault any of the castings too. Rob Riggle as Lombard would ace! Have to give some more praise for Fassbender as Luthor, he would just be phenomenal!

- While I'd definitely want to see an adaption of Blackest Night on the big screen, I don't like it as the culmination / main event film that essentially finishes the phase. Don't get me wrong the cast you've assembled and having Garland in full control would definitely be the way to go, I'd just much prefer it caps off with the JL facing off against Darkseid potentially with the New Gods.

All in all, you've done a stellar job. Hope you've got more stuff in the pipeline to look forward to. Hoping to get my Nightwing pitch up in the next few hours or so, would be great to hear your thoughts on that if you want to give it a look-see.

@MrMurdock - Thanks so much man! I love hearing your input on these.

I figured Kosinski would be the way to go for War of Light because I wanted a real visualist director for that one, and Kosinski is one of the best in that department. I still prefer Garland overall, and since GL3/JL4 is more horror influenced it seemed the way to go with Garland's work in 28 Days Later and Sunshine.
To be honest I'm also unfamiliar with my choice for Simon Baz, but I thought it was important to have a real Muslim play the part and when I researched Muslim actors I was pretty surprised how similar he looked to Baz, and he's even Lebanese like Baz too. It seemed too appropriate I had to choose him.

I loved what Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang did with their run on Wonder Woman and figured I had to base my fictional sequel on that run. Plus bringing back the main villain of the first one (Ares) as a semi-ally in the sequel like in Azzarello's run would add an interesting dynamic.

Surprisingly I havent seen anything Edgar Ramirez has been in, but I heard he's great. Javier Bardem is one of my favorite actors and I knew I had to get him in this universe somewhere. He is always phenomenal in villain roles.

Wally West was one of the hardest and last casting choices I made. I just couldn't find anyone right for the role. Casting pretty much any of the younger roles was really hard, there's so fewer options to pick from and most are ABC family / Disney actors that can't act. With Revolori I found someone young, humorous, and talented, and it clicked. My ideal Wally probably would've been Dave Franco a decade ago but he's far too old now.

Yeah with Hush, so much of that story hinges on the mystery, and the hunt for the truth. And if fans know the true identity, general audiences would too because media coverage over CBMs is insane. I decided not to cast Hush because the actor would depend on who is the man under the mask (which I didn't choose), but at one point I had Oscar Isaac because I wanted to get him in this universe.
Catwoman was another hard one for me. I think Eva Green would be perfect but she's already Wonder Woman. I also would've loved Marion Cotillard, but she's too old for it now and in 2021 she would be 46. Eventually I decided Amber Heard would be pretty great.

Yeah Bayona was too perfect for adapting The Death of Superman. He loves the character already, but he also leans toward darker stories and is a master at pulling at your heartstrings. I never cry at movies but my god A Monster Calls was an exception to that rule.

I agree with you on Blackest Night, it seemed to work as semi-culmination film, but just wasnt perfect for me. Darkseid would've been great. My thinking was the last film in the GL trilogy needed to be Blackest Night, but Blackest Night needs to partially be a Justice League film, and then with Superman's death it had to come after that, and then having a giant JL film (Darkseid) right after Blackest Night seemed to be too much. Also seemed to parallel the MCU too closely with DC's "Infinity War" being against Darkseid. Oh well.

Again thanks a lot for the feedback! I dont have anything else planned currently (this took too much time as is with my workload haha) but possibly in the future.
Looking forward to your Nightwing pitch!

@Elayem - seeing Ramirez in Point Break (one of the highlights of an otherwise pointless remake) actually sold me. His physicality and overall demeanor made me think he would be perfect opposite Momoa’s Aquaman. I was quite disappointed when Patrick Wilson was announced (great actor, just can’t picture him in the role).

Cotillard I could see as Carol Ferris / Star Sapphire if you went with an older Hal Jordan. Not to knock Knightley’s casting in the slightest, I’d be very intrigued to see what she could bring to the role.

You’ve done a really good job to make cohesive universe here, kudos my friend

ELAYEM - 11/3/2017, 7:06 AM
@MrMurdock - Yeah I was also a little disappointed in Patrick Wilson for Orm. He’s a good actor but he comes off as nice regular joe type, I cant really see him as an evil otherworldly villain.

Yeah I remember there was a rumor DC wanted an older Hal and a young John Stewart, so Marion as Carol could work in that instance. I always saw Marion as more exotic and Carol Ferris as very American, so I could almost see Marion more as Queen Agapo of the Star Sapphires than as Carol.

Thanks again friend!

This looks awesome-and an Aquaman movie from Del Toro would be a sight to see. Who would play Saint Walker and Hush? You choice for Cyborg is awesome(not high on Marc Webb directing)
ELAYEM
ELAYEM - 11/2/2017, 6:30 PM
@JaredRWebb12 - Thanks a lot! For Saint Walker, Atrocitus, and Doomsday I figured the role was less important to cast since it would be mo-cap. (Not to knock mo-cap because Andy Serkis gives phenomenal mo-cap performances). But since the actors' visual appearance doesnt matter I would only be casting their voice, which we cant hear anyway when we read comic books.
For Hush since he wouldn't be Thomas Elliot but a new mystery character, I figured I would leave it uncast.
For Marc Webb, yeah I know a lot of people hate TASM Spider-Man series, but I really liked the first one, and while I dislike the second TASM I blame the shitty writers. Between 500 Days of Summer and TASM1 I thought he would be great for a more young adult centered CBM, and he has talented writers doing the Titans script so we wouldn't get another shitty TASM2.
JaredRWebb12
JaredRWebb12 - 11/2/2017, 7:14 PM
@Elayem - I actually hear Morgan Freeman when I read Saint Walker lol. And I LOVED 500 Days of Summer. And I think Webb is a smart director(just needs redemption with a smaller CBM)
ELAYEM
ELAYEM - 11/2/2017, 7:21 PM
@JaredRWebb12 - I think I read Saint Walker with a higher pitched but still calming voice, but I love the idea of Morgan Freeman! Good idea.
Yeah, I envisioned Titans as a smaller-scale CBM. I think Webb just needs a better script. TASM2 was written by the guys that wrote The Dark Tower, The 5th Wave, The Mummy, and Transformers 2. Terrible writers.

@Elayem - I like your idea of Hush being an original character. He reminds me to Red X from the Teen Titans animated series. Both are very badass and mysterious.

Will Superman and Martian Manhunter resurrect in Blackest Night? Or both will turn into dust forever once the Black Lantern Corps is defeated?
ELAYEM
ELAYEM - 11/3/2017, 6:50 AM
@ILoveStargirl - Thanks!
Unlike the comics books, I wanted death to be final in my universe. It would do a disservice to the emotion created in their death/sacrifice to bring them back I think.

ILoveStargirl - 11/3/2017, 6:57 AM
@Elayem - Good and bold decision!

Another good decision is avoiding Darkseid as the ultimate evil of your DC Cinematic Universe.

Back to Superman, will Blackest Night start with Superman's funeral?
ELAYEM
ELAYEM - 11/3/2017, 7:10 AM
@ILoveStargirl - Probably would have Superman’s funeral in The Fall of Superman, but a visit to his memorial by some of the heroes would be a great way to start Blackest Night, good idea!

ILoveStargirl - 11/3/2017, 7:21 AM
@Elayem - Will Superman save an African-American construction worker named John Henry Irons at the start of Fall of Superman? When Irons is rescued by Superman, cue the following exchange:

Irons: "I owe you my life!"
Superman: "Then make it count for something!"

And he did! If you do a Phase 3, Irons, now as Steel, would serve as Superboy's mentor in the latter's own movie, similar to Tony Stark's role with Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
