Justice Society – The Mystery Men

The Storyline

During a spy mission, the MI6 officer named Inza Cramer informed American president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt about the initial success of the Nazi mission named Operation Gudra that has the objective to find the three ancient relics that are able to give a powerful force to their owner. So the American President asks help to the "Mystery Men" who are civilian agents with special powers to fight against a Nazi secret society.

Fancast

Main Cast

** David Thewlis as Al Pratt/The Atom

He is a good actor but underrated too. I really like the way that he plays his characters, principally as Remus Lupin in Harry Porter film series. I chose him because he’s perfect to play the hero’s version. I considered Paul Bettany for this role, but my final choice was David Thewlis.

** Josh Holloway as Alan Scott/Green Lantern

I chose him principally because of his interpretation in Lost (TV series) where he played Sawyer. I believe that Holloway is a good actor who could play Alan Scott very well. I considered other actors like Sean Bean, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Liam Hemsworth and Paul Walker.

** Jim Caviezel as Jay Garrick/The Flash

First I had considered Matthew Fox for the role but I gave up it because I believe that he’ll be good to play another character in DC Universe. So I realized that Jim Caviezel could be a big choice to play Jay Garrick, principally because he’s a brilliant actor.

** Sean Bean as Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate

Finally I’ll talk about my favorite choice in this cast who is Sean Bean. I chose him because he’s a brilliant actor who is much underrated. Bean could be a fantastic Doctor Fate in the theaters because this character is perfect for him.
In my version Doctor Fate is the true leader of the Justice Society because I believe that Doctor Fate has a kind of serenity and leadership at his essence and Sean Bean can play it with an epic way. I considered Kevin Bacon too; however my final choice was Sean Bean.

** Joseph Fiennes as Rex Tyler/Hourman

This was the hardest choice in the cast… But finally I realized that Joseph Fiennes could play this character very well because he’s a good actor and I really like the way that he plays his roles.

** David Oyelowo as Jim Corrigan/The Spectre

Finally I’ll talk about this role in the cast, principally because of the various characters who became the cosmic entity named The Spectre. So I created a kind of amalgam of these characters of the comic books. I mixed a little of Crispus Allen with Jim Corrigan.
I always thought about the JSA movies situated at the World War II. So I watched one film about the brave soldiers of the 92nd Infantry Division and I began to think about one different idea. So I chose David Oyelowo for this role, principally because of his characters in The Last King of Scotland and The Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Finally I recommend the movie The Miracle of St. Anna. This is not one of the best films about war or something else but is a different film.

** David Tennant as Wesley Dodds/Sandman

It’s my second favorite choice. I always thought about Sandman as a man with a crazy personality maybe because I always linked him with Rorschach of Watchmen who was based at Sandman. So I chose the British actor David Tennant who is a good actor and I really like his roles.

Supporting Characters

I must to admit that Purcell wasn't my first choice for this role. I considered Gerard Butler as Vandal Savage but I wanted to be original at my choice and Butler has been usually chosen to play this character in other fancasts. So I remembered of Prison Break (TV Series) and Killer Elite (film) that are good works of Dominic Purcell. I believe that he could bring something good and different for the Vandal Savage's role.
Vandal Savage is leader of a secret society inside the Nazi Party and a high-ranking SS officer. So he is the responsible by the Nazi mission known as Operation Gudra that has the objective to search and find the three ancient relics: the Spear of Destiny, the Holy Grail and the Philosopher's Stone.
The Vandal's army is composed by a group of fanatic soldiers that follow the Vandal's orders without hesitation. The army is armed with lethal weapons including a lot of armored vehicles named Panzerkampfrad also known as War Wheels by the Allies troop. The War Wheels is an invention of the army's scientist known as Dragon King. The troop is commanded by the German army officer known as Baron Blitzkrieg.

I chose her because she’s a talent actress. I really think that Morena could play Nyssa Raatko very well.
In the story, Nyssa was abandoned by her father who didn’t approve her involvement in the war. So Nyssa lost her entire family in the war but she was rescued by the resistance and became one of the resistance’s leaders against the Nazi army. Nyssa and the rest of resistance become JSA’s allies and she has a close relationship with Wesley Dodds who had his parents killed by Nazis at the war.

Claire Forlani is a good and pretty actress as well as Morena Baccarin is. I like her roles in films. I believe that she could be a good Inza Cramer.
In the story, Inza Cramer is an intelligence officer in the Secret Intelligence Service and expert in Ancient History because of this she was infiltrated in the Operation Gudra. In past, she was a student of the Professor Sven Nelson.

Barry Pepper is a good and underrated actor. I really like the way that he played his roles in Saving Private Ryan and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. I believe that Pepper could play the character very well.
The origin story about the Nazi army officer known as Baron Blitzkrieg is unknown by the Allies as much as by the Axis. The story about the Baron was erased by the Gestapo with the objective to create a true deadly soldier. Baron is a master of weapons, an extraordinary hand-to-hand combatant and an excellent sniper. The Nazi officer is unable to feel pain or anything, principally because of the experiments that gave him superhuman strength and enhanced agility. Before the experiments, the Blitzkrieg's face was permanently damaged by a woman in the concentration camp, so he killed the entire family of the woman.

It’s my harder choice in this fancast but I finally chose Tsuyoshi Ihara to play the character named Dragon King. Tsuyoshi could play this role very well as much as he played his characters in 13 Assassins and Letters from Iwo Jima.
In the storyline, Dragon King is a brilliant scientist with mystical knowledge about the three ancient relics. He is the creator of a lot of deadly weapons, including the armored vehicles named Panzerkampfrad by the Axis soldiers.

Post-credits scene

At 1947, the soldiers enter in a room inside a military basement bringing a prisoner who is Vandal Savage. An American officer says that Savage was called to help them with an unexpected situation. Savage agrees with the terms and signs a contract.
So he is carried to a room where he can see the soldiers interrogating a green martian about a box with extraterrestrial technology. Behind the shadows, Vandal Savage says:
- The mankind is not prepared for this kind of technology yet.

A Justice Society movie would be great to see.

For the most part your cast is decent but why decide to mash up only the Spectre, a character whose defining identity IS Jim Corrigan? Hourman, Sandman, Atom and Dr. Fate all have additional persona's/people taking up their mantles- why not mash them as well?

If you're going classic, you have to stay classic all the way.
