My Sequel To The Dark Knight

My Sequel To The Dark Knight

How I would've wrote the sequel to The Dark Knight.

Last year a friend and myself attended summer school, and when we weren't learning we were coming up with ideas for how we thought the next Batman film should be. At first it was just something to pass the time, but after a few days it became all we talked about. I never actually sat down and wrote it out since it wouldn't really matter, and the fact that Christopher Nolan, Jonathon Nolan, and David S. Goyer are already hard at work on the story. The following is the plot, and some of the ideas that we came up with. I hope you enjoy!

The story starts off not too long after the end of "The Dark Knight"(About a month or so.) Bruce is having a lot of trouble mourning the loss of Rachel, and feels solely responsible. Wayne Manor has been completely rebuilt, and the lower section that is the batcave, has been remodeled. Bruce hasn't suited up since his narrow escape at the end of "The Dark Knight", to heal from his gunshot wound. Because of this Bruce is starting to take his company more serious.

The computer in the RND department that Lucius Fox fried is still broken, and someone from the tech department has been called up to take a look at it. That person is Edward Nigma. We wrote Edward to be a lot more obsessive compulsive, and a little more suave than in the previous film with Jim Carey, since The Riddler in the comics was considered to be just that(except suave). Now whether or not you think it's a good idea, we thought it would be interesting to see Jude Law portray Edward(without the accent). We thought it would be cool to leave the idea that Edward has a slight fascination for Bruce Wayne, and Batman, only not as immature as it was in "Batman Forever". Edward isn't the Riddler in the story for quite a while, but lurks behind the main story plotting his scheme.

While all of this is happening, another villain is forming at Janus Cosmetics; the company that Roman Sionis (or) Black Mask owns. The company is in severe debt, and the board of executives announce that there will be no further spending for the time being, that could potentially further the debt. This infuriates Roman, so he decides to proceed with a project that he had come up with behind the boards back. We thought that Javier Bardem would be great for the part of Black Mask, because of his powerful performance as the villain in "No Country For Old Men."

After a while in the story Bruce puts on the bat suit, and finds Gordon alone, since the entire city, and police are searching for Batman. Bruce lets Gordon know that he's still around, but just laying low. Gordon gives Bruce a walkie talkie that he can always reach him on, if he needs to.

Bruce apologizes to Lucius Fox for putting him in an uncomfortable position in "The Dark Knight". Lucius understands that Bruce had to do what he did, and stays with Wayne Enterprise.

After some tinkering Edward Nigma finally makes some progress on the computer in the RND department, and is able to process some of the last images that was on it from the night is was fried. The image is of Batman on the roof with The joker. After a while in the story Edward eventually figures out that Bruce Wayne is Batman, and starts to obsess.

Roman starts production of the makeup product, leaving the board in the dark.
By the time that anyone on the board figures it out, Roman has already completed the first trial, and has started testing. The makeup severely damages the faces of the women that it is tested on, and now Janus Cosmetics is being sued(I got this idea from Roman Sionis's biography on wikipedia). Now the board is fully aware of Roman's plot to go behind their backs, and vote him out of the company.
This puts Roman over the edge, and makes him kill one of the board members. Edward Nigma witnesses this, and is compelled to leave a riddle on the body of the board member.

Aware of Roman's situation Bruce Wayne offers to buy Janus cosmetics, and help it get out of the debt that it is in. The board members agree to sell the company to Wayne Enterprise. This starts the feud between Roman Sionis, and Bruce Wayne.

After the second board member is killed, Edward begins to follow Roman Sionis, and leave more riddles at the crime scenes, making the media call them The Riddle Murders. Every time Edward sees Roman kill on of the members, it makes him lose a little more sanity, and makes him want to kill. Roman figures out that he is being followed, and confronts Edward. Edward hesitates, and lies telling him that Batman has been following him. Roman does not believe Edward, and threatens to kill him, but Edward tells Roman that he knows Bruce Wayne is Batman. Edward after long thought kills someone himself. Roman's wife Circe. Edward finds Roman and tells him he saw who did it, and that it was Batman. This spawns Black Mask.

Black Mask hires a group of five hit men to kill Bruce Wayne, and tells them that he will give a million dollars to the one who does it. The hit men are all just random assassins except one. Deadshot(I have no idea who could play him).Deadshot is the first to get Bruce in his sights, but notices that at the same time another hit man is across the street on another building taking aim. Deadshot kills the assassin, and loses his shot. Deadshot ponders the idea of Batman killing an innocent woman, and decides to protect Bruce from the remaining three hit men.

Eventually Gordon radios Bruce on the walkie, and fills him in on the recent murders. Bruce decides to get the suit back out once again.

Bruce is out as Batman watching the streets from an abandoned factory when he is ambushed, and surrounded by the remaining three hit men. Deadshot is far ahead of the assassins and follows Batman in. Deadshot tells Batman that he was hired to kill him, but knows that he did not kill Roman's wife. The police are now also surrounding the building, and both Batman, and Deadshot are trapped.(According to the Deadshot biography on wikipedia, Deadshot always wanted to go out in an extravagant fashion, and doesn't really care if he dies). So he tells Bruce that he'll go distract the police so Bruce can escape. Deadshot exits the factory, and dies in a hail of gunfire so that Bruce can get away.

I never really concluded my story since I knew it wouldn’t matter, but here are a couple small ideas that I didn't mention above.

1. Alfred dies of some sort of sickness, leaving Bruce alone in the mansion to ponder the pain that he has caused to others as Batman, and things that the Joker said about him being just as crazy as him.

2. Lucius Fox helps Bruce build a new means of transportation from scratch to replace the tumbler.

3. Edward Nigma visits The Scarecrow in Arkham and asks him if he has any of the hallucinogenic gas, or to tell him how he made it. Scarecrow doesn't want to help but Edward tells him why he needs it.(to trap Batman). Edward uses the gas to create a trap for Batman to fall in so himself, and Black Mask can unmask him, and kill him.

4. Bruce kills Black Mask, and apprehends The Riddler.

Well I hope you enjoyed. I’m anxious to hear your comments.

I wouldn't have Alfred die, that's killing off a key character...

I also would not have Lucius aid Bruce anymore, Lucius said he wouldn't and we still need to see Bruce get his hands dirty, in the past two films all we;ve seen him build is bat-a-rangs...lets see him build a more comic book inspired version of the Batmobile

I like the idea of Riddler going to Arkham, and it would be pretty cool to see another appearence from Scarecrow...maybe a mention of Joker

Batman shouldn't kill though, they kind of made that point pretty clear in TDK that he will not kill no matter what.

Besides that though this is fine, no complaints otherwise ;)

@Harvey- No problem LOL, I was the same way when I first came on here, but the more people that give you an honest critique and advice the more you'll find yourself doing the same. It's weird. :P

Cool stuff!
I don't like Batman killing Black Mask or how Alfred dies though. Alfred is essential!
Kudos!

Great idea - except for points 1,3 & 4.
But well done, man. Great overall idea.
Especially Deadshot!

HD @ Great first article man, kudos you have DEADSHOT, BLACK MASK & RIDDLER in it!!

I've always thought DEADSHOT n DEATHSTROKE as hired guns hunting an on the run BATS, BLACK MASK involvement with maybe RIDDLER in the background.

Love your story man, cool stuff, thumbs up!

Cool idea man this would make for a sick movie. But I agree with everyone else that you cant kill Alfred, maybe Lucius though.

You should write the whole story cause this sounds great

You should check out my story its called Batman Eternal. it's down the fan fic section. Not that far though. It'd be cool to hear what you think.

This is a very good story and very original but why kill Alfred he is a very important character. Very good though.

I just thought that it would be a very dramatic, dark, yet eye opening experience for Bruce because he would have to realize that Alfreds not always going to be there to guide him, and could make him stronger as, Bruce, and as Batman.

good story man! i really like it.

it's funny you killed off Alfred because, with Michael Caine being as old as he is i often think (morbidly, i guess) what would they do if he were to pass away. if that were to happen i would rather them "kill off" Alfred in the movies then re-cast. at this point - CAINE IS ALFRED!

@ OdinsBeard-You are definately right. There is nobody that could ever play Alfred to the capacity of Michael Caine. If he died I honestly think I would cry.
