Nightwing: Top 5 actors suggestions from fans I really like!

There are many fancast out there for Nightwing for Ben Affleck's Batman Universe. Here are the top five best that I've seen so far!

Ok before you go through my list, here's a quick summary for the kind of Nighwing I prefer in Ben Affleck's Batman Universe for you to understand why I prefer these five actors to be on my top 5 list. Since Ben's Batman is a much older version and has been Batman for quite a while now, I want Nightwing to look like he's in his 30's. I want Nightwing to look older, wiser and more experienced compared to the other two old Robins like Jason Todd and Tim Drake.

5. SEAN FARIS

Age: 34
Height: 6'0 ft

In fith place I give you my own personal suggestion. If you're one of those who wanted Christian Bale as the Batman in the DCEU but knows he won't return for the role or any other DC role, here's an actor who looks like Bale. If they do a Batman movie adapting the story of how Nighwing took over the Batman role for a while, this guy will definitely look like an upgraded version of Christian Bale Batman. He's a decent actor and I thought he was pretty cool in 'Never Back Down'.

4. Matt Bomer

Age: 39
Height: 5'11 ft

To be honest, I haven't really seen much of this actor. I've only seen him in a forgettable role in 'Flightplan' and I think he voiced Superman in 'Superman: Unbound' (correct me if I'm wrong). But he still looks like a decent choice, who knows...

3. TAYLOR KITSCH

Age: 35
Height: 5'11 ft

In my opinion Taylor is a badass action actor. His movies hasn't been much of a success or critically praised, but I still find him fun and entertaining to watch. If you're saying no because he's already played Gambit...well some of the most badass superhero on the big screen has been in another superhero role before.

2. JOSH HARTNETT

Age: 38
Height: 6'3 ft

This is a fantastic choice, Josh has worked with Ben Affleck before on 'Pearl Harbour, and the two worked amazingly well together. I really like this one!

NUMBER 1
IAN SOMERHALDER

Age: 37
Height: 5'9 ft

Honestly Ian looks like Nightwing ripped straight out of a comic book.

That's it. Let us know in the comments below your top 5 of who you would like to see as Nightwing. Thanks for reading :) Have a good one!

Good choices all of them but all of them a tad old.
Maybe if they were about 30.

@SimplyAz - At least they look younger than their actual age. Thanks for checking this out! :)

@SimplyAz - Don't forget Batfleck is an older Batman, so an older Nightwing isn't that odd. An older sidekick also fits better in the DCEU then a teenage Robin (like Bucky in the First Avenger)

@nilzzz - yess :) we're thinking the same!

No
No
No
No

And no

Sorry man, all of them are bad choices

Just cus they have the looks, doesn't mean that they can pull it off. You gotta take everything into account: acting range, age, physicality, leading man potential, film resume, some looks, etc

Take it into account next time you get into it.

Btw Ben Affleck is 44 years old. Youngest you got is Sean Farris. Your other picks just wouldn't work since their 5 minus years apart from Batfleck.

@PrinceAwesome - your comment reminds me of what people used to say about Ben as Batman or Heath as Joker. There have been countless times when a legendary actor completely sucks in a role while a not so well known actor gets praised for nailing a role. Just because an actor doesn't have the full package doesn't mean he has no potential. Look at DCEU's Superman, people barely even knew who Henry Cavill is after Man of Steel, or Gal Gadot, last person on any ones list to play DC's most iconic female character, now everyone praises her. You never know what an actor could do with a role...

@red1994 -

Well it's not a matter of saying that these actors dont have what it takes to be Nightwing. I think that each and every one of the actors you have suggested would do a decent job at that, but when you have a Batman that is 44 years old...there is kind of a problem with that when you have a Nightwing that is in his late 30s when you have to keep in mind that this character was once a kid while Batman was still Batman.

No problem bud

@PrinceAwesome - At least it's not like they'll mention how old they are in the movie. I just thought a fully mature Nightwing would make him stand out from the others, wouldn't one the Batcave full of teenagers lol I get where you're coming from though man, you're awesome! :)

@red1994 - if batman were younger (say late 20s or early 30s aka his prime years), i wouldnt really mind having a bunch of teenage or young 20s robins because that is how old they would be in the comics so why not translate it on film. just look at homecoming, cast is made up of teenagers and the movie looks really sweet. but yeah, if we're dealing with an older batman that's in his fortys like Batfleck then a really young robin/nightwing wouldnt work. i always saw a ten year difference between bruce and dick tho, but your actors do look younger than they are so why not.

you too bro, thank you for the compliment. keep writing these up, i really enjoyed reading them ^.^

There are 2 things that fan-casts do that irritate me: 1)Pick an actor solely based upon looks and 2)give no reason for why the actors were chosen.

This isn't really YOUR fan-cast, but rather your favorite picks from other people. Still, no reasons were given beyond an actor previously working with the star of the DCEU or the actor looks like the character.

Much like @PrinceAwesome said in a previous comment, there are a lot of other factors you have to take into account. Who the character is is really where you want to start. Nightwing is a supporting character to Batman with potential to get a spin-off. So "leading man potential" does really become a factor.

You also have to look at the previous films in the series/universe for a couple of casting cues (tone and scale).

And, of course, you want an actor that is more than a pretty face and body. When you cast a supporting role like this, the actor has to be someone that completes the movie. You would have to walk out of the theater and think, "if 'so-and-so' hadn't been in this, the movie wouldn't have worked," (like Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight).

In my opinion, age doesn't necessarily matter all that much. As long as the actor LOOKS close to the age of the character - or the character is aged-up for a good reason - their actual age means nothing.

All of that being said...

Absolutely none of these actors work for Nightwing. Taylor Kitsch comes the closest, but he seems to be a box-office-bomb magnet. Josh Hartnett is a decent actor, but really doesn't quite do it for me.

But, these are your choices... that's what matters. Your reasons are your reasons. I just would love to hear why you think these were the best choices across Internetland to open up a discussion. That's why we do fan-casts.

@YakeTheSnake @red1994

What do you guys think of Jeremy Irvine taking on the role of Grayson/Nightwing. The guy has a high caliber in acting, he's got the boyish charm, looks, and definetely has leading man potential having starred in a Spielberg film.

@PrinceAwesome - Yeah, I think he would be a wonderful choice. Fresh face, acting chops, leading-man potential... totally works

@YakeTheSnake - I know what you mean. But you see, I'm not a Director or an actor or have any experience in the film industry. I'm just a regular guy who's simply saying, "You know what, I actually wouldn't mind this guy for the role". I'm not the type to look at all the specific reasons to why an actor or actress is suitable for the role. There have been countless times where an actor does amazingly well in a movie, while horrible in another. To me it doesn't matter who is cast in a role, because it doesn't matter if the actor is a legend when the script, director or others working on the movie aren't giving it their best. A good example is the Star Wars prequel Trilogy, they had some really great actors and actresses but the movies still bombed for other reasons. So I disagree with you, all these fan suggestions are perfect, it all comes down to how not only the actor, but the entire team working on the movie handles it. A great lesson can be known by the man who's behind the Batman role himself, he's a great actor but Daredevil was horrible. Even before he became Batman, thousands of people could give you the most legit reasons why Ben isn't suitable for the role, look what happened after BvS, those people are probably the same ones praising him in the role. My point is, you shouldn't judge an actor on their past performance.
