Whoa no to all 3

First of all don't have a clue who your Batman choice is and he really does NOT look the part.

Matthew Bomer can't act and is way too short to play the big blue boy-scout.

Anne Hathaway is a decent actress but I can't see her pulling off fierce, amozonian warrior considering she comes across as a kind of nerdy chick...

No way to all 3. Sorry.
Alex O'Loughlin sucks balls at acting.
Bomer is too short, scrawny, and he is openly homosexual.
Hathaway doesn't look the role.

@NightAvenger- Although I don't like Bomer for the role of Supes, cuz he's a crappy actor nd that....what does him being an openly gay man have anything to do with casting him as Supes? If he fit the role both physically and talent wise and he was still gay would you not cast him?

A bit homophobic don't you think....
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 8/22/2010, 2:14 PM
Ryden @ How the [frick] can you call BOMER a crappy actor with a straight face and call MEYERS a good actor... wtf lol hahahha! : D

Seriously dude, how?

; D

Check out WHITE COLLAR, gr8 show!

And yes tho, he isn't SUPERMAN agreed!

Ryden@ From what I have been told, inside sources at Warner have said they are nervous about casting a homosexual for the role of Superman. Not saying it is right or wrong, but if that is what Warner is thinking, Bomer won't work. It has to do with marketing and image. The studio has to take that into consideration for such an iconic role. Not to mention the fact he is too small for the role and I think he looks too boyish and wimpy for the role, whether that feminine side of him contributes to that or not is going to be a matter of opinion. SR was on AMC today and I watched part of it and it just convinces me more and more that Routh is too wimpy/boyish looking for the Man of Steel as well.

Alex O'Louglin doesn't look remotely close to Bruce Wayne. His long chin will look very weird sticking out the bottom of the the mask. Hathaway doesn't look like Wonder Woman to me either.
Ryden
Ryden - 8/22/2010, 2:41 PM
@LEEE- Because he isn't a good actor and Meyers is, Bomer is a bland basic, boring TV actor that won't ever be anything more. He's like Jensen Ackles....Jonathan Meyers, whether you like him for Namor or not, is a good actor...and that's a fact. You're just hating on him for absoultley no reason. Besides, you're actually wanting VIN DIESEL as Namor, you're in no position to say Meyers is a bad actor. ;D

@Ranger- No you're right Bomer wouldn't make a good Supes, because like I've said he doesn't look the part or has the talent to pull it off. However, whether Warner's is nervous about it or not doesn't make it right to critiscise a FAN casting based on the fact that the actor is gay. Wouldn't you agree? And I think the reason they are nervous about casting a homosexual as a superhero (if they are at all) is most likley because they're worried about what the fans think, and really if an actor fits the role physically and can pull it off acting wise then why should fans get all pissed just because of someone's sexuality. It doesn't effect a performance at all, and anyone who says otherwise is just plain WRONG.

And how can you say Routh is too "boyish" for the role when he's around 6'3-6'4, very built and has a deep masculine voice.

Big no to all 3.

Ranger14 - 8/22/2010, 3:16 PM
Ryden@ Right or wrong, if the film company is concerned about image affecting ticket sales they will take everything into consideration. Routh making the cover of a magazine referring to him as gay (even thought that wasn't accurate) did not help the image of SR and I can only assume they don't want to go there again.

I just watched SR again...well...as much as I could stomach of it and Routh just was way too soft in the movie. His face jus appears way too boyish to me. At 6'3" he didn't seem to carry that size across well to me and he didn't seem overly masculine to me at all. Refer to his making the cover of the magazine I mentioned above. It is obvious I am not the only one that saw him as wimpy.
Ryden
Ryden - 8/22/2010, 3:26 PM
@Ranger- Yeah okay, but whether a studio cares if someone looks gay or not...why did a user on this site complain about a fan-cast decision based on the fact that he was gay...why even mention it? It's not like we care if studios would pick these actors or not for whatever reason or another, so would you not say it is homophobic to say a casting decision is bad based on the actor's sexuality?
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 8/22/2010, 3:40 PM
RYDEN @ LMFAO dude, MEYERS is a total SH1TE actor and you know it!!!

Best part he could actually do in a MARVEL movie is... BLACK BOLT... coz he won't have to actually act much! : P

; D

BOMER owns in WHITE COLLAR and you know it too!
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 8/22/2010, 3:41 PM
Ryden@ If the actor's sexuality is going to affect the way they come across on the screen, then I wouldn't necessarily call it homophobic, but that's why I never refer to someone not being right for the part because they are gay, but because they are too feminine, boyish and/or wimpy. I have a challenge with some gay actors whose feminine side comes across in the role they play. I have said this before, that is why I had an issue with Reeve in his portrayal of Superman. There were some scenes his feminine side peeked out and that did bother me. Some gay actors are good at covering it up and some aren't. I have compared it to Worthington having a hard time completely covering up his accent, which is a challenge on screen in the parts he has played.

@ranger- I'm sorry WHAT? Christopher Reeves, the iconic Superman, is whimpy? I'm sorry but if you don't like Christopher Reeves in the role of Superman then you're going to have a hard time finding a new actor who embodies everything Superman is and is as "manly" to your liking.

And when has an actor's sexuality ever effected thier performance on screen? I've never seen a film or TV show where a gay actor is supposed to play someone straight and they're "feminine side" came through. Perfect example is Russel Trovey who plays the werewolf in Being Human, his character is a nerdy, very straight character...and I had NO idea that he was gay. It shouldn't be an issue.

So, whether Bomer is a shit Superman or not (and I know he would be) doesn't mean that has ANYTHING to do with him being gay.

I think it'd be hilarious if Superman was gay...make him more interesting that's for sure

Kicker - 8/23/2010, 5:08 AM
I guess you guys disagree with virtually every TV critic in the biz - Bomer is considered one of the best actors on the scene today and at 5.11+ his height is fine. He has one of the hottest careers in show business and is on every producers list so likely wouldn't get involved in the super hero stuff. He certainly is a better actor talent-wise than any previous one to take a supe role, and he would certainly be the most handsome to ever do one! He plays straight perfectly on tv as well. You guys totally miss the mark!
Ryden
Ryden - 8/23/2010, 8:53 AM
@Kicker- Um no...Superman needs to be over 6ft...otherwise he'd look stupid. Bomer is BLAND, as BLAND can be. And are you honestly trying to say that Bomer would be better than Christopher Reeve? Don't even go there man.
6of13
6of13 - 8/23/2010, 9:49 AM
Have to agree with Ryden. Bomer, when standing next to Zach Levi in Chuck, really does not look tall enough. And Zach was even rumoured to have been considered for Superman. Tahmoh Penikett for Superman.
Kicker
Kicker - 8/23/2010, 10:21 AM
Well if plus 6 feet is your requirement then not a good choice on that basis, although based on scene from last Tues WC he definitely has got the 'Super build'.Regarding talent,Matt's acting talent is clear (yes better than Mr. Reeve who after rewatching the series is rather hammy),so no dispute that he would do well talent wise - he's the tv critics current 'actor darling'.Based on what I've heard on the grape vine, Matt's script-dance card is so full during his WC filming hiatus that he likely would have no time, and is destined for better things anyway. The biggest buz here in studioland is how many scripts are being thrown at him.I think his future provides for better things than a superman role would provide, especially based on career outcome of previous Super actors.Look at the irony of Mr. Routh doing a Chuck character arc that was basically created due to Matt being unable to reprise Bryce due to how busy he is filming WC.And from what I've read, chuck execs not happy with that outcome. It's okay not to think an actor is perfect for a role, but trashing a talented and obviously stunning looking actor is kind of silly.
Ryden
Ryden - 8/23/2010, 11:29 AM
@Kicker-No he is NOT better than Reeve, in anyway shape or form. There is nothing interesting to Matt Bomer at all, he is a bland television actor, Reeve IS Superman...that's CBM blasphemy to say otherwise. The first and second Superman films are far from "hammy" are you sure you didn't re-watch the third and fourth films? That scene where Superman screams in anger and takes off to the skies to save Lois could only be done by Chjristopher Reeve, Bomer wouldn't know what the hell to do.

Well you seem to just a crush on the guy physically which is why you're defending him, I understand he's a good looking guy but he is NOT a good actor and couldn't pull of Superman, or any CBM role for that matter.

Face facts he sucks balls, quite literally as a matter of fact ...hehe...
Kicker
Kicker - 8/23/2010, 11:59 AM
I stand corrected. It's your right to disagree with virtually every tv critic out there and the millions who watch him each week on tv.As I said, he is better off not taking a role that will type cast him as it has all of the others.
Ryden
Ryden - 8/23/2010, 1:32 PM
@Kicker- Why do you care what critics say? A lot of them talk nonsense....I mean Keanu Reeves is famous some how despite not being able to act any better than Matt Bomer!!!
Kicker
Kicker - 8/23/2010, 2:17 PM
I guess the sad part is that you think Mr. Reeves was a great actor - kind of frames it up nicely.
Ryden
Ryden - 8/23/2010, 2:36 PM
@Kicker- Because he WAS a great actor, Christopher Reeve IS Superman and is a legend in not only CBM movie history but simply movie history in general. Matt Bomer is a pathetic little rat who couldn't be anywhere near as memorable or as great as SUPERMAN.

R.I.P CHRISTOPHER REEVE 1952-2004

Yes REEVE's was the perfect SUPERMAN but funny you ignored my MEYERS for BLACK BOLT comment haha!

You know it makes sense... anyways BOMER is a good actor deal with it! ; D
Ryden
Ryden - 8/24/2010, 10:30 AM
@LEEE- It was because I was kind of caught up with the whole "homophobic" debate ;)

Bomer isn't a great actor, but I'd be lying if I said he was a terrible one....I think he's ok....not Superman material though. I can't see him for any CBM role to be honest. I was just riled up at the fact that Kicker said he'd be better than Reeves or Routh....which just isn't true.

As for Meyers, we'll just have to agree to disagree, Meyers is diverse where as Vin Diesel is...well...he's just Vin Disel :)
