Why there MUST be some sort of THOR cameo in Iron-man 2

Here's why without a doubt there must be some sort of mention of THOR in Iron-man 2

If you look at the past two Marvel tent-pole movies for The Avengers they each had some sort of integration with three of the four main heroes that make the avengers.

In 'Iron-man' Captain America's shield was seen in Tony's work shop.

In 'The Incredible Hulk' there was the Captain America "appearance" and the Tony Stark appearance

Now we all know by now that Jon Favreau said on twitter that Iron-man 2 takes place before Hulk. So I would sat that would rule out any type of Hulk mention since the events haven't happened yet.

And I don't think having another Captain America reference should take place. Since it already been done twice. And not having mentioned THOR in any way in either movie only leads only leads me to think that one will happen in the next Iron-man. They have yet to make reference to him and would be pretty dumb not to since he is a founding member of the team. And would be a free easy promotion to the none Fan-boys out there to let the public know that THOR has something to do with what they are planning and its not just another super hero movie.

I would also assume that in the THOR movie thats when they will make refrence to HULK once again.

i can imagine Fury making an aside about rolling thunder or something like that to entice Tony to join up, but i can't see Thor ACTUALLY making an appearance.......
but about the Hulk reference, it would be cool to see a Breaking News segment about an explosion at a college campus in Virginia......
the birth of the Hulk?
in the IH, they never said how long Bruce had been on the run......
whaddayathink?

@Wadey09 it would be really interesting if the mention Hulk's birth on a TV in the corner or something. Maybe Tony could be watching it and asks Fury if he knows anything about it and he says "long story", or something like that

it's what i do!

@The4thWall
better yet, here's what Fury should say:
"Sorry, not authorized."
"What? You're not authorized?"
"No. YOU are not authorized. Isn't even my department."
"Whose is it?"
"Some bull of a general named Ross."
etc. etc.

I'm with wadey09 and KiNG, listen for a mention connecting the movies rather than an actual cameo. The true lynchpin of the Marvel movies is SLJ as Furry. Furry is going to be the "Ultimate" link between the films. He will be the cement that bonds the Marvel Cinema Universe together.

Because the people who don't know about the Avengers movie (I mean they don't know that Iron Man 1, 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America are in the same franchise) and they aren't comic book fans they will see the movies.

Remember Nick Furry's cameo in IM 1 where he asked Stark if he thinks he's the only Superhero out there (or something along those lines)? Whom do you think he was refering to there?
That's way before the Hulk's time & Captain America obviously hasn't been found yet.

I would be happy with even a short reference to Thor. I mean a Thor cameo would be a great way to lead into the Thor movie. :)

Heres MY vision on how his cameo is gonna work.

* Before the movie starts there is gonna be an extremely short Thor teaser trailer.

1. After the credits, Tony finds Nick Fury to finalize him joining the Avengers (Since he had declined earlier

2. Nick says That he is not the first to join

3. Tony asks who it is, and Nick looks to the stormy skies.

4. Thor arrives after an epic lightning bolt strikes nearby and introduces himself to Tony

* #4 is optional, It could just show Nick looking into a stormy sky.

I believe there WAS a Thor cameo in The Incredible Hulk. There was a sudden, unexpected, dangerous thunderstorm in the Smoky Mountains that kept Ross from chasing the Hulk after the campus fight. We didn't actually see Thor, but I believe his presence was implied.

i'm calling it. when Fury is trying to convince Stark to join the Avengers in IM2, Fury will mention, "A guy that thinks he's a god". as for a Thor cameo?? doubtful.

although hemsworth DID visit the set, and having him appear unexpectedly in IM2 would be an awesome way to introduce Thor's costume to everyone. also, the main stream public saw and loved IM, what a good way to get them interested in a Thor movie, because i can't see many "general public fans" being interested in a Thor movie.

@ P862010

what do you mean, "isn't the Cap shield a rumor?" its there in IM and IH. you can see it with your own two eyes. how can that be a rumor, lol?

I think the scene in The Incredible Hulk could be a set-up for his cameo in Thor. Possibly Thor intervening as he catches Loki watching or going after the Hulk. Just splice some of the footage together and show it from a reverse perspective.

i also think a Thor or Scarlet Witch cameo in this movie is essential to meld the Tech and the Magic before the Avengers. Keep it based in reality by playing off of Tony's reaction. It will make it easier to handle in the Avengers.

I have seen allot of discussion about whether or not Norton would appear in the Avengers. I hope he does not, not because I would like to see Banner just stay the Hulk through the whole movie. If the last scene of TIH was him embracing the Hulk, why would he go back?

supposedly, Thor takes place before Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk, so it is feasible that the thunderstorm seen in IH was caused by Thor but it is highly doubtful.
i would love a Captain America mention in Thor though!

What if instead of saying his name or even showing him, for a post credits Thor cameo, Fury is finalizing Iron Man joining the Avengers and Fury's like "Meet your new team mate" and you see nothing but a shadowy figure from behind as the camera pans down and shows him holding a big ass hammer!

@ joker1zero, oh that would be cool as hell, but I'ld like to see the winged helmet too, if they use that costume, which I hope they do.

about fury's "you think your the only hero out there" line, he could be refering to black widow if she is working for him and trying to steal the armor.

jusme6 - 3/8/2010, 4:39 AM
It was more of a Thor "nod" than a Thor "cameo" in TIH. Thor was never seen, but I believe he was implied. Go watch the movie!

I've mentioned this in the past..
I always thought that there's not enough time to give the origins of all the main Avengers characters in each of there films without blending in some story of one or two of them leading to the Avenger's Movie. And I'm not talking about just some "extra footage" on DVD ie "Capt's" so-called image in the snow/ice.. Or even just some end credits tidbits.. Come on now.. That's not enough.. Let's remember Capt's movie is supposed to be a period piece.. So I've thought that his movie would probably be a flashback of memories and that at some time in the movie it comes back to a more present day film.. IMHO.. If they're smart about blending these movies together in a logical way.. Antman & Wasp have to be referenced in either Thor or atleast Capt's movie.. Thor & Ironman have to be in Capt's movie.. Hulk has to be somewhere in Thor.. or towards the end of Capt'Amer via End Credits.. Ironman has to have a cameo in Thor.. or a reference of Ironman in some manner.. Yes a reference to him but something bonafide.. No cloack and dagger stuff or something that the audience can't indentify with..

Oh and the Thunder storm reference to Thor... Ummm LOL you're seeing something that not there.. But if Betty's line of, "we're ok.. it's just the rain" was "we're ok it's just THUNDER".. then I would think it "might" have more of a reference to Thor..

@ supasego

eventually i'm sure characters WILL cameo in each other's films, but as far as the story has been shown at this point, there has been no need. Stark cameo'd in IH, and that showed that their universes were one in the same. but in IM2, i don't think Thor, or Cap, or ANYONE NEEDS to be in it. we know Fury and Stark talk about joining the Avengers (and its safe to say that Stark will officially join in this one). but they don't NEED to have Thor show up, they can just mention him.

although i'm with you, i think showing Thor in this, even for a second or two at the end, would be an awesome way to get the interest of the general public for the Thor movie. most of my friends don't read comics, and have no interest whatsoever for the Thor movie. but if he appeared in IM2 for a minute, it might gain their interest to go see the Thor movie.

lets face it, Thor is cool to us because we know him. but to people that aren't comics fans, he seems very cheesy.
