Wonder Woman in the style of Alphonse Mucha

Wonder Woman in the style of Alphonse Mucha

I am participating in this year's Pasadena Chalk Festival with Wonder Woman as my subject.

The annual Pasadena Chalk Festival will celebrate its 20th Anniversary on Father’s Day Weekend June 16 and 17, 2012 at Paseo Colorado. Each year thousands of spectators enjoy the annual festival that is open to the public and free of charge. Hundreds of artists come from all across Southern California to spend two days on their hands and knees creating spectacular chalk murals on concrete areas in every style imaginable.

I have always wanted to do this and this year I am. I initially wanted to do Alphonse Mucha's "La Danse" as I have always loved his style. AND seeing something of his 8 feet tall would be quite impressive. But then I got to thinking... I also love comic books as well... why not combine the two somehow.

I first tried some Marvel heroines... but none were immediately recognizeable in the Mucha pose. So I went for the good old standy, Wonder Woman, who is recognizeable from ALL angles.

I am still tweaking the concept art, but here it is. I tried to include as many Wonder Woman elements as possible... her logo, stars, the lasso, the invisible jet...

Let me know what you think...

After the festival I will post pictures.

Wow! That's fantastic. I think you'll draw a big crowd with that mural. No pun intended. :)

I look forward to seeing the pictures. And good luck at the festival.
