Is Marvel vs Fox and FANTASTIC FOUR Hiatus real?

Is Marvel's Fox lockout real or something else is going on?

Its been sometime that Marvel is sending Fantastic Four on an indefinite hiatus because the rights wont revert back to Marvel. I personally feel that this rumor has no credibility and a lot more is going on that what is actually being shown.

If Marvel really wanted to take back Fantastic Four rights from Fox and was so desperate for it they could simply take a lawsuit action and taken back the rights rather than affecting their own sales and fanbase. The temporary hiatus might be leading to something big.

The fantastic four movie comes out in March and Secret Wars starts around the same time. Marvel will be busy with the yearlong event and the tie ins. The Fantastic Four is away till 2016 when fox starts filming for the sequel.

This temporary hiatus might be certain strategy by Marvel to kill off the real Human Torch (again) and introduce a black Human Torch from alternate dimension. A lame but brilliant marketing move.

Although I’ll personally like Fantastic Four to be a part of MCU but I don’t find any room for Marvel’s first family in the slot of movies Marvel has announced.Its been sometime that Marvel is sending Fantastic Four on an indefinite hiatus because the rights wont revert back to Marvel. Do you know what's going on? NO one is buying Fantastic Four comics, they were like 94th in comic sales last month with only 28,000 readers. So they cancelled it. End of story.

Nah, they wouldn't want to make Fox's F4 seem like canon. I just don't think its very popular. It could be if they change things up.

AH who cares F4 sucks anyway the movie will suck the comics suck the casting sucks FOX sucks the characters suck Ben Grimm doesn't suck. All the movies that are coming in the next few years F4 is the one I'm least interested in.

I want to focus on something early on in the article: 'If Marvel were so desperate to get the rights back they could just take Fox to court?'

You do know that this is not how it works right?

Fox and Marvel has a legally binding contract that says that Fox is allowed to use their characters for their movies as long as there are movies being made every number of years (I know it is three for the Spiderman and X-Men franchises). With a movie in the works, Marvel has absolutely NOTHING to sue over. They made an agreement with the studio and the studio are making movies. Fox is living up to their end of the contract for better or for worse.

God, I hope you are not an adult. I am picturing a grown man threatening lawsuits to everyone everytime he does not get his way (which happens a lot of a a grown up).

Thanks for saying that, @Objectivelybiased , I was scratching my head over that one too...

Still trying to figure out how something can be "lame but brilliant" as well.

Plus, as mentioned, its pasted twice.

Might want to put some more thought into the next one, RedSkull667.

I'd rather watch Michael Bay's Transformers and TMNT movies.

@ObjectivelyBiased

It can't be 3 years between films... Spider-Man 3 was 2007, TASM was 2012. I actually think it's a 7 year gap and the rights revert.

But, on topic... The Fantastic Four don't sell. It's a fact. Although, Marvel would be smart to relaunch shortly after the FF reboot comes out. Marvel comics don't benefit the movies, the movies benefit the comics.

All other things aside, I don't see how the cancellation of the comic book has any significant effect on Fox's films. The films will live or die based on their acceptance or rejection by audience who don't read those comics, anyway.

FF was canceled due to consistently poor sales, that's all.

If ever there was a conspiracy theory that made the "moon landing hoax" people look sane, this is the one.

@Dethpillow

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not. Not all of those titles are worse than F4, according to this sales list: http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/2014/2014-09.html
