It is common knowledge that FOX has destroyed the Fantastic 4's reputation and turned Dr. Doom into a laughing stock, this said, how could Marvel turn the Fantastic 4 into a great movie franchise that is lore accurate?

MAKE A SOLO DR DOOM MOVIE.

After the previous failiures Marvel fans have had to witness, nobody is going to take another Fantastic 4 origin story reboot seriously, this is why a Dr. Doom movie would be exactly what the franchise needs. Not only would a solo Doom film help the F4, but it would also be a great boost for the Mcu as a whole, which has been criticized for its lackluster villains.

HATRED OF REED

If Marvel was to make a Dr. Doom movie it would have to be done right, which means he must have a good motive for hating Reed Richards. In the movie Victor would be building a device that could open portals to other dimensions so he could save his mother, who had been abducted by Mephisto. Reed would sabatoge the device because it was about to create a black hole; Victor, seeing his mother slip from his grasp, turns the device back on and it explodes, disfiguring his face. Victor would have a much better reason for hating Reed than he did in the previous films, where Doom came of as simply a murderous psychopath, unlike the world conquering genius we know from the comics.

TALKING IN THE 3RD PERSON

In the previous Fantastic 4 movies Doom has talked like a normal person, and as fans of Doom we know that this is totally out of character. Dr. Doom should not speak like a filthy commoner! Doom speaks as he pleases and he is pleased to speak in the 3rd person! If Marvel misrepresents Doom in another film one more time, in speach or otherwise, there may be no way to redeem the Fantastic 4 franchise.

LORE ACCURATE ATTIRE

In the first two films the Fantastic 4's costumes were acceptible but the recent reboot's costumes were utterly disgusting; and If you thought that Doom had good costumes in any of the previous films then you must have been watching a different movie, because what they did to Doom is almost unforgiveable. If Marvel is to make a successful and lore accurate Dr. Doom/Fantastic 4 movie the costumes must stay true to the comics.

SUPER POWERS

While the previous movies have represented the powers of the Fantastic 4 well, Doom has basically been turned into Electro, or Carrie. If Doom is to be in another movie he must be shown as he is in the comics, a man with unearthly intelligence, who through technology and magic becomes so powerful that every mortal or god in the universe fears him. If Marvel wants the F4 franchise to be succesful they must not give us some Electro-colossus hybrid, or a wierd plastic telekinetic! Give us the real DOOM!

DONT KILL DOOM

probably my biggest problem with the most recent F4 movie was the death of Dr. Doom. If Doom makes it into the MCU he should be like Thanos, a universal threat. Dr. Doom is probably the most iconic villain in comics, so to have him die in his first film is pure idiocy.

I hope that you the reader, enjoyed this article. Lets hope that someday justice shall be done to DOOM and the Fantastic 4.

@TheNerdGuy of course they should focus on doom! doom is way more popular than the fantastic four and he is the greatest villain in comic history. marvel needs to get another great villain in the mcu other than loki, and doom would be perfect. people talk about how the superhero genre will become boring and everyone will get sick of it, the obvious way to fix this is to make a supervillain movie, and not one like suicide squad, one where the main person is a actual villain.

Fantastic Four should win Worst Screenplay at the Razzies, Josh could've got anybody to write it with him, but instead he got Jeremy Slater who was basically a complete nobody who made a very minor contribution to Chronicle. Slater and Trank wrote an 'okay' version of the script with a more scenic Planet Zero covered in alien ruins and had Galactus in it! But that script went through so many revisions with guys like Ashley Miller and Seth Grahame-Smith until it was as realistic as Trank wanted it, Simon Kinberg didn't do much to doctor the script but mainly streamlined the incurably clunky dialogue.

The Body Horror angle was his one good idea and it only lasted for one scene! Ridiculous, that could've been the whole movie, ever see The Fly? Dr. Brundle didn't step into the teleporter and emerge as BrundleFly, it was a gradual transformation, now could you imagine that happening to Jamie Bell's character? He feels great, he's stronger, impervious to damage, but he's growing rocks on his face and everyday it gets worse. He's slowly turning into a monster. But what we got instead was the most WASTED character of 2015.

And they could've done Doombots too, the concept art tells us they almost put Herbie in the movie, but that would've raised the question of "why use human explorers if we have intelligent unmanned robots?" If they wanted to do the whole Hacker Doom thing they could've filled the Baxter Building with Herbies, then in the 3rd act turn them into Doombots. Or if they really wanted to sidestep the superhero movie tropes altogether and just make a character-driven science fiction, they could've made a straight up Body Horror film. The Ultimate comics did something cool with Sue's powers, giving her an anatomical layering effect where she doesn't turn fully invisible at first, and she can see her insides. That's body horror! Why didn't they do that? Was it that the criminally underqualified SFX supervisor they saddled him with didn't know how to pull it off?

There are so many missed opportunities with this film that have nothing to do with the studio cutbacks, but are entirely the fault of the writers for not coming up with any new or exciting ideas.

Well done on that article. A Dr. Doom solo film really could work, I'm impressed, hadn't thought of that.

I don't think the general public would even think of the Fant4stic Dr. Doom as Dr. Doom - he was rarely referred to it, and nobody watched it anyway. (I sincerely think that Tim Story Fantastic Four movies are far better than Josh Trank's Fant4stic. At least Story's versions, as corny as it was, was true to itself and was COHESIVE. Story set a low bar and Trank didn't get near it).

I just can't get over how bad they screwed up that movie.

I like the Fantastic Four, have been recently reading the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby original run and they are a lot of fun with a lot of ideas ALL the time, with soap opera stuff going on bringing in the character development.

It isn't impossible to do Fantastic Four.

How about this if they get the rights - The MCU do a Fantastic Four origin story as an ANIMATED film, and then have the live action actors (who voiced the animated films) be part of the universe from that point on. If they are successful, they could do a live action film.

Not a bad idea, but @WeddingTux you are soooo correct

@dethpillow

I wanted doom's mom to be abducted because it would make you feel for him; he would be trying to save his mom from this other dimension for years and when he finally has victory within his grasp reed comes in and takes her away from him. this would explain dooms deep hatred of reed and also get the audience on dooms side. you would know doom was the bad guy, but you just couldn't help rooting for him. I think your idea for a political movie mixed with my idea could be the best comic book movie ever.

I think this is a great idea.

Doom is probably up there with Darth Vader in terms of popularity with the general public but has been treated with disrespect by Fox. Like you say the actual four are kinda boring.

A Dr Doom solo movie would be a brilliant way to reboot the F4 universe.

Maybe a cameo in Dr Strange where Doom is searching for his mum and Strange notices that someone is screwing around with alternate dimensions?

@Dethpillow Have you read Fantastic Four: Books of Doom? If not, I highly recommend it. What you want in a Doom film adaptation would greatly resemble that 6 book arc.

Very little FF in it too. Which actually helps the series.

How to redeem F4?

Get Edgar Wright to write and direct.

It's as simple as that.

@TheNerdGuy I don't think bringing his mother back should be dooms only motivation, but I do think that it would good to have in the movie. if doom decides to let it go after the first movie that's fine, but freeing his mom was a big deal for him in the comics and it hasn't been referenced once on film. I do like your idea for basing the doom movie off of the god father 2.

@TheNerdGuy I actually said he wouldn't get her back and it would all be reeds fault. I do agree with you about basing his solo movie off the god father, I would hope though that they don't forget that doom is a sorcerer as well as a scientist. he definitely needs to rule his own country.

Okay this is uncanny. I just finished Books of Doom two days ago and if you would have given me a day or two I probably would have posted this exact same idea. Doom should be the centerpiece of the movie no doubt. The Fantastic Four can have their introduction and origin in relation to Doom's. Let him witness the events leading up to it. And his reaction to them getting their powers, but keep the focus on Doom. But besides that a loose adaptation of Books of Doom would be the perfect way to introduce the FF and Doom into the MCU.

I am writing the next reboot. I can't talk about it. Two of the actors I chose, Callan and Forrest, actually got back to me on that, and after reading 1/3 of the script Callan wanted to sign a contract right away. But then again, I can't talk about it...
