Captain Barabossa was one of the great things about POTC, he was the only pirate after Captain Jack, that actually looked like a pirate. If they were to make a sequel he has to be in it.

The current plot details state that the movie is about the chase for the fountain of youth between both Captain's and it also may have something to do with the a story of the same name.

When interviewed about the subject Rush had a lot of information to give us on the status of the projects:

They have to bring the pirates back for the 4th one. That includes Jack, Barbossa, Pintel, Ragetti, the short pirate (forgot his name), etc. Otherwise, it's not PIRATES of the Caribbean is it?

You are damn right! It wont be a good Pirates movie unless they bring back the good members of the cast. No Keira or Orlando please. Orlando seems to be a bad actor when it comes to the Pirates movies and Keira is hot and all but I think its time for some new hot chick in the Pirates movies! And hopefully Pirates 4 will bring it back to the fun and simple plot of the first one, not the boring complicated crap of the third one such as the [frick]ing giant woman made out of crabs!

Hell yeah dancingmonkey!

They should leave Knightley and Bloom out, their characters are done, and were wrapped up tight.

And definite yes to making it a simpler story. The 3rd one was way too convoluted and complicated, it kept coming at you with new twists and sub-plots. Pirates 1 wasn't a simple movie exactly, but it was easy and accessible to follow with.

And keep the characterizations consistent this time. In At World's End, too many characters went against a bunch of things that they had said and done for the past 2 movies, such as Will (becoming a total asshole) and Jack (becoming the good guy hero)

yeah, but i hope this isn't just a "race to the fountain" film. maybe the next female lead should be a love interest for jack.
he's always prefered the loner's road true.
but in POTC3 he realized he didn't want to be the last of anything.
as long as they keep the same crew of the pearl and the same spirit of the first movie, i'll be happy.

They have to bring bak jack the monkey and it would kinda be cool to see will's son get thrown somewhere in the movie
