With the Fantastic Beasts franchise proving to be a critical and commercial disappointment for Warner Bros. Discovery, the studio is now heading back to the drawing board in an effort to figure out where to take Harry Potter next. There's been talk of a reboot, TV shows, and even a big screen adaptation of The Cursed Child, but nothing has been confirmed.

The latter story was produced as a play and served as a sequel to J.K. Rowling's original novels, picking up with Harry, Ron, and Hermoine as adults (while also shifting the focus to their children as they head to Hogwarts).

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have shown little interest in reprising their respective roles as they look to move on with their careers. Rupert Grint, however, has now admitted that he would be open to returning as Ron should the opportunity present itself.

Talking on UK chat show This Morning (via SFFGazette.com), the actor said: "Yeah, I think if the timing was right and everyone was kinda coming back I’d definitely revisit it. It’s a character that’s important to me. I kinda grew up and we kinda became the same person. I feel quite protective of him as well."

Clearly, he'd only come back if he's joined by Radcliffe and Watson. It doesn't exactly sound like Grint is angling for an invite, though, and the question was whether he'd play Ron again if asked. We find it hard to imagine him outright dismissing the notion, but the actor has actually started finding great success in his own right away from the Wizarding World.

It took him perhaps a little longer than his co-stars, but in recent years, he's impressed with performances in the likes of ServantGuillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, and the upcoming Knock at the Cabin (based on early buzz for the M. Night Shyamalan movie, anyway).

Only time will tell what comes next for Harry Potter, but Warner Bros. is unlikely to sit on the franchise for very long.

Cursed Child is inevitable when the actors have aged enough, that said, the franchise should stay dead.

Not really a Harry Potter fan anyway but from what I've heard/read about The Cursed Child it seems like such a vanilla follow up to the main series. If they did some kind of continuation I feel like they'd be better off ignoring it altogether and coming up with a new idea. It wouldn't even necessarily need to focus on the core characters or their kids, just have them pop up from time to time while shifting focus to some newer characters.

Props for not bringing up the stupid JK Rowling trans “controversy” that’s spoiling the upcoming release of Hogwarts Legacy on Twitter

@globaltravels - The LGBTQ religion shall not be disparaged and all non-believers are to be excommunicated!

Someone else said this in an earlier article about the franchise, but I loved the idea; have him narrate a Quidditch through the ages movie. Either narrate or actually appear in it, that would be fun !

So he still doesn't know he isn't a real dramatic actor, but still wants respect as one & still desires lots of money.

Check.

Better none of them come back because it only supports Rowling's delusion that whoever supports her financially agrees with her bigoted ways.

@BritishMonkey - Rowling has said nothing bigoted. LGBTQ cult just gets too hurt any time anybody questions anything they do. They are used to their apologists allowing them to do literally anything they want without question.

Isn't the whole hate towards 1 persons opinion on Trans Gender kinda hypercritical?!

"I dont agree with what you say! but you should agree to respect trans gengered people are WHATEVER they say they are and what they identify as"!

Well I identify as the person correct in this argument now what? to say otherwise you're just as bad as JK..

The difference is JK DOESN't push her own narrative on anyone or force the world to accept her opinions LGTBQ+++ Does.
