Just one day after officially hanging up Superman's cape at the behest of DC Studios, Henry Cavill has lined up a future project - and it's something near and dear to the British actor's heart.

Jeff Sneider initially reported that he'd heard Amazon had acquired (or was close to acquiring) the rights to the popular Warhammer 40,000 miniature game, and that Cavill might be in line to star. Now, THR has confirmed the news.

Though it sounds like the project is in the very early stages of development, Cavill is indeed in talks to star and executive produce a series adaptation of the sci-fi fantasy game.

Cavill is an avid player, and, coincidentally (we assume?), Midnight Mass actor Rahul Kohli Tweeted the following after learning that Cavill had parted ways with the Man of Steel.

The trade stresses that Amazon hasn't actually closed the deal yet, and even if and when they do, this will most likely not be Cavill's next gig.

According to THR's synopsis, Warhammer is set 40,000 years into the future "where things are dark indeed. Human civilization has stopped progressing and is in an unending war with aliens and magical beings, with gods and demons figuring into a theological class system. The humans make up the Imperium of Man, who are militaristic. A race of skeleton-like androids are known as the Necron; there is an elvish race known as Aeldari as well as Orks; Tyranids are nasty aliens; and the T’au is a blue-skinned alien race that may offer some hope."

What do you guys make of this news? Any Warhammer players out there? Drop us a comment down below.

@TheFireForce - It would be interesting if he were playing the emperor, even if that's not the case.

I know nothing about Warhammer except for the "dudes in big f*cking suits of armor" part. But good for him, he ain't gonna be starving for work.

Is it like Gears of War?

EZBeast - 12/15/2022, 11:23 PM
@Jordanstine - better, bigger, and far move violent. It’s a whole universe of aliens, humans, demons, and all sorts of moral choices and consequences

@TheFireForce - why are you leaving out the fact that it’s a dumb board game with figurines you have to paint manually?

@GetsugaTensho22 - just like superheroes are dumb comics or sw is just a movie. Because there is so much more to it. It’s a unique game but never something I play but I’m a big fan of many of the video games and their novels series which expands on the universe!

@TheFireForce - I like to think of it as if WoW got merged into Dune, but Im not much of a thinker anyway. :)

@GetsugaTensho22 - Why are you leaving out the fact that there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of novels and the deepest lore of any fictional universe you'll ever find?

@GetsugaTensho22 - Also, I know this might sound crazy to you, but painting your army is half the fun of playing the game. It's also not a board game...

kind of weird he left one show and not like after is going to another

so was Witcher always going to be short term or is there really something to the story about creatives mocking the source material and thats why he left

or this is just to fill time while he finds a franchise

@dracula - to be fair he’s a die hard w40k fanboy and has talked in the past how’d he would enjoy partaking in something related to the property. If I was a gambling man I’d bet that he’s looking forward to this more than his previous works.

@TheFireForce - well hopefully amazon does better than netflix with their live action game adaptions

@dracula - agreed Amazon has me nervous…

However the advantage W40k has over something like Rings of power is that there is truly a number of stories they can choose from like it can be set during the Horus heresy (pre 40k) or have stories more revolving around the current lore and could focus on anything from a common guardsman to the inquisition to space marines. I just hope they don’t get political as while in 40k that plays a role it’s not nearly as important as most people in the settings are nobody’s and are treated as such, at least with mankind. The xenos, demons, and traitors could easily have their own stories as well.
