Sony Pictures has released a very cool new Chinese one-sheet and six new international character posters for Jake Kasdan's eagerly awaited Jumanji: The Next Level, spotlighting the core cast of avatars, which include Dr. Smolder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson), Professor Shelly Oberon (Jack Black), Mouse Finbar (Kevin Hart), Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillen) and Seaplane McDonough (Nick Jonas).

The sequel will pick-up a few years after the events of the first film with Fridge (Ser'Darius Blain), Bethany (Madison Iseman) and Martha (Morgan Turner) reuniting to rescue Spencer (Alex Wolff) after he seemingly gets trapped in Jumanji. However, in a hilariously unexpected twist, when the trio are sucked back in the game they're joined by Spencer's grandfather Eddie Gilpin (Danny DeVito) and his friend Milo Walker (Danny Glover), who have assumed the roles of Dr. Smolder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson) and Franklin "Mouse" Finbar (Kevin Hart), respectively.

The follow-up to the 2017 blockbuster brings back stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff, Rhys Darby and Colin Hanks while adding Awkwafina, Danny Glover and Danny DeVito in key new roles.

I wonder if the Terminator:Dark Fate would have done better at the box office if Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson had portrayed the Rev9.

@WilliamCipher - I can't help but to think it would have helped a lot...he is a big name actor who figuratively has inherited Arnold Schwarzenegger's mantle as the muscle bound action star... so this would have been a somewhat symbolic passing of the torch...and the Rock has a huge social media following.

@WilliamCipher - Don't get me wrong...I loved the film more than most other people. I thought that Gabriel Luna and Mackenzie Davis were both great. But you could have billed it as the older model in the form of Schwarzenegger taking on this generation's version of him in the Rock. Then going forward the Rock would be the model they would fight given the end of Skynet.

I don't really like the comedic angle to the Rock. It seems like that makes him a one note actor. I have never gotten through the first Jumanji as a result.

@Forthas - Wow, that's really surprising. I have to agree with Robin Williams daughter there.

Great article. Thanks for linking it.

@L0RDbuckethead - This article confused me. I am curious as to why they chose to do it. Its not like people won't know that Dean is dead. It seems like they think people would watch it out of curiosity which did not work for Will Smith in Gemini Man.

@Forthas - Money, probably. It mentions that the filmmakers had to negotiate for awhile with his family's estate to use his likeness, so maybe the director has some sort of connection with Dean.

He's probably just doing it to 1) "break new ground" and 2) use the aura of James Dean's likeness to pique curiosity enough to sell a shit ton of tickets.

It's a weird situation for sure though. I'm really surprised Dean's family were okay with it. That's where the real story is, not the movie.

@Forthas - until Kevin Feige completely denies the Netflix shows as canon, Simone Missick ia the only Misty Knight

I guess we will know for definite in 2021, when they can use them again

I’m not expecting much from this sequel, I’ll settle for just being a fun time.
