JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE Is Officially Getting A Sequel But Will The Cast Return?

The first trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was overshadowed by people complaining about Karen Gillan's shorts but no one really expected much from the reboot regardless. However, the movie massively overperformed at the box office with a haul of over $850 million worldwide and so it probably won't surprise you to learn that a sequel is now officially in the works at Sony Pictures.

According to Variety, the plan is for Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan to all reprise their roles, while Jake Kasdan is going to be back in the director's chair for the follow-up.

Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are in talks to pen the screenplay and they worked on the first movie (alongside Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers) but most notably wrote the upcoming Venom movie starring Tom Hardy. A production start date hasn't been revealed and Jumanji 2 doesn't currently have a release date either. As always, though, be sure to stay tuned for additional updates on the sequel.

Nice to see that both the highest-grossing actor and highest-grossing actress of 2017 are coming back. Granted, Jumanji's unbelievable haul made that happen.

Greatly enjoyed the film. My guess is it'll overtake GOTG2's global boxoffice results this weekend. And if lucky, will overtake Homecomings $880 million. Black Panther will greatly slow down Jumanji's momentum so it really only has 1 weekend left to boost its boxoffice performance.

Wouldn't this technically be Jumanji 3 instead?

I pleasantly was surprised how good the movie was. In the next one a guy needs to be in a girl's body, unlike how a female was put in a man's in this one.

I'll wait and see if they cast a Zatanna in the new onder Woman movie. If they do then I know they will try and get the original cast for the next Jumanji to beat it.

We just saw the movie and it was better than I expected. I liked the small tie ins to the original but ti still managed to stand on its own. It doesn't explain though how the game that was played in the 70's? Transformed itself into a video game...i'll chuck it up to that movie magic.

It was like catching lightning in a bottle ... happened once, may not happen again.

Surprise me once again please! I loved the first one, not sure if 2nd one is even needed.
