Lionsgate has re-titled its Kellan Lutz’ Hercules movie — opting for “The Legend of Hercules” rather than “Hercules: The Legend Begins.” The studio had decided two weeks ago to move the U.S. release for the film forward a month to Jan. 10, where the actioner will be the only new wide release.

I personally have to say that I like this new title better. Obviously Lionsgate wants a franchise to spawn from this, and watching movies in order without a simple 1, 2, 3, is a hassle when every movie coming out today has a damning subtitle. It is [frick]ing ridiculous. Too much to keep track of! This movie is not to be confused with "Hercules," directed by Brett Ratner, and starring The Rock.

“The Legend of Hercules” is directed by Renny Harlin from Daniel Giat’s screenplay and will be released in 3D and 2D nationwide. The origins story will track Hercules as he’s betrayed by his king, sold into slavery and fighting for his freedom to return to his true love, the Princess of Crete (played by Gaia Weiss).

Changing the title won't save this movie, you can't un-stupid the look of something.

This film looks terrible, the trailer makes it look like a TV movie instead of a film they hope will become a franchise.

The Rock looks more like a Hercules type.
The Lutz looks like he should be selling Greek underwear in the town marketplace.
