Fans have been put through the ringer waiting for the much anticipated adaptation of the children's book Where the Wild Things Are. According to Max Records, the 12 year old who landed any 80s kid's dream role as the King of All Wild Things, we have nothing to worry about.
“When the book first came out, it was banned and all the adults hated it and stuff,” Jonze’s young leading man told MTV Movie Blog. “But all the kids absolutely loved it. Then people started realizing ‘Oh this is good. This is good.’ And so, I think it’s the same thing - only hopefully, it won’t take too long for people to actually realize that it’s really, really amazing.”
Based on the trailers, he doesn't seem too far off the mark. Jones however, because of numerous delays and re-edits, has been the victim of much scrutiny since he chose to tackle WTWTA. According to Records the scrutiny is unwarranted - Spike means business.
“Spike’s great; his big thing is he takes people and puts them in new situations, like I’ve never done the acting before. He wants it all to be spontaneous and authentic and real, and not like acting.”
This lad's poise and loyalty is pretty impressive. There are many middle-aged actors out there who could take a page or two from his classic and beloved book.
