This from Warner Home Video:

"This original animated classic from acclaimed director Ralph Bakshi and Academy
Award Winning producer Saul Zaentz has been remastered with pristine
New Dolby 5.1 audio and picture quality and will be distributed as a
single disc DVD and Blu-ray combo which features a Blu-ray, DVD and
bonus digital copy. The film will also be available for Digital
Download. This film is rated PG.

One of the great visionary animation directors of the modern era,
Bakshi went to artistic extremes to meticulously bring the legendary
world of J.R.R. Tolkien to animated life – adding yet another stunning
title to the director’s canon of ground-breaking films. Bakshi’s
animation accomplishments include Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic,
American Pop, Wizards and Cool World.

The deluxe edition features a never-before-seen, 30-minute
in-depth interview with legendary director Ralph Bakshi entitled
"Forging Through The Darkness: The Ralph Bakshi Vision for The Lord Of
The Rings." This special feature explores his concept for creating an
illustrated film, his pioneering rotoscoping process, and inspirations
for his visual storytelling."

This is a must have for all you Tolkien fanatics out there. Now if Warner Home Video would just release 'The Hobbit' my collection would then be complete! Check out a few screen shots below!

When I was a kid this animation was one of the coolest things out there. It's nice to see it receive the Blu-ray treatment! Below are a few more fun facts I dug up for tomorrow's release.

I loved this too. Animation may have aged badly but when I was a kid it was class. Plus they nailed the characters and the story..in some instances even better than Jackson did. Shame Bakshi never completed the movie though.

saw these in theaters and i had the VCR tapes...the only thing i didnt like was the singing in i think return of the king..."frodo of the 9 fingers" was the worst song and "where thers a whip theres a way" sung by the orcs was actually alright.

Looks like I'm headed to the Bestbuy today to pick this up. I'm really pleased to see that this has been redone, I loved these movies when I was a kid, and now that my wife and i are beginning the process of becoming parents ourselves I'm really looking forward to watching these with my little one.

"We don't wanna go to war today, but the lord of the lash says nay, nay, nay! Were gonna march all day, all day, all day! Where there's a whip, there's a way. Left, right, left, right!"

Its burned into my subconscious! My VHS disappeared years ago, now I can sing the songs of my childhood again! Oh rapture!

The Hobbit was the best one of these. But all worth a Saturday afternoon look.

HAhHHAhaHAHhahahaha @ Blackout

Dogs - Yeah, but it's not the director's cuts. I'm gonna hang back and wait for those. Having learned my lesson the first time around.

This is really nice! The movie is now animated. It's a good thing that despite the fact that we are on the verge of recession, there are still people that have time to relax. Thinking of recession is really stressful doesn't it. This current recession was associated with financial instruments and real estate - thus, the sooner real estate as an industry starts to do better; the closer we get to past conditions. The February home sales were up by over 8% - and quite a few people predict another housing bubble may take place, because homes are now cheaper and individuals are more willing to buy. Given, just because prices are lowered doesn't mean you can purchase a home with a few pay day loans. Here's the thing about bubbles - bubbles are caused by increased demand, which causes greater prices. At a while, folks stop buying because it's too expensive, prices fall, and when bottom is reached, the market recovers.
