Wicked director Jon M. Chu recently shared a first official look at his big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, but the production stills didn't exactly set the internet on fire!

The images - which featured Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, aka The Wicked Witch, and Ariana Grande as Glinda, aka the Good Witch - were distant, barely visible shots of the characters. This was clearly by design in an effort to obscure their features, but it wasn't the first look fans had been hoping for.

Now, some set photos and a video courtesy of Entertainment Tonight (via SFFGazette.com) provide a much better look at Grande belting out a tune in full costume as Glinda.

We recently learned that Wizard of Oz fans will get the chance to follow the Yellow-Brick Road a little earlier than expected, as Universal Pictures' Wicked moved up the film's release date. Wicked is now set to hit theaters on Nov. 27, 2024 — just under a month ahead of schedule.

The prequel story will recount everything that happened before Dorothy 's journey, and tell the story of how a green-skinned woman named Elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.

Additional cast members include Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible and Ethan Slater as Boq

I remember Ariana Grande. She's that same girl who said she hated America and Americans.

@TyrantBossMedia - What's the issue? America kinda sucks right now. Quite a bit, actually.

@Dabs - So the person who owes her career to this country, and who was born and raised here hates the country and the citizens of the country where she still lives and makes millions.

Of course an internet nobody can easily say that hate America or agree with her....but for a celeb to say it is quite different and quite disingenuous.

@pitbull76 - They heard of her because she made her career IN AMERICA. If it wasn't for America where she developed and started her career then she would have nothing.

But nice try.
