G.I. Joe Movie a Summer Sleeper Hit?

G.I. Joe Movie a Summer Sleeper Hit?

I just got back from the Facebook winning of Hometown Heroes in San Diego. I will have to say, if you're going and not looking forward to it you just might have a change of mind.

WOW.....So I won the Hometown Heroes contest and won a viewing of the movie in San Diego. It was a pretty hectic event and there was a whole other adventure that led up to it, but that has nothing to do with the movie.

So I'll start from when we got into the theater. When we sat down I only had to wait about five minutes, then some of the main actors from the movie came in like, Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans. They met and greeted with me and we talked for a bit before the movie started. They said they were really pleased with what the [director] did so I opened my mind. Right into the movie theaction started. It's kinda that fun action where you're like "OOOHH.....and HHAHAHAHA....and HOLY SHIIIITTT!" The suits didn't actually have a HUGE role in the movie which really made me happy. In the original there never were suits. I digress. Okay, so the movie was an all around fun and funny movie, easy on the eyes and action packed. I truly think this movie will change a lot of people's minds.

So in the end I give this movie a thumbs up. I'd pay to see it again. Hope you enjoy it and leave a comment!!!!!

Lee77@ you are prejudging it as well just with the opposite opinion. Quite being hipocritical :)

How is keeping an open mind tantamount to being hypocritical. He's not saying that he's going to go see the movie because it is definitely going to be awesome. He just said he thinks it looks good. He didn't think Wolverine looked good, but went and saw it anyway to form an accurate opinion. I don't see where the "hypocrisy" fits in.

I stopped posting on here for a while because I got tired of all the fanboys bashing on everybody for not living up to their uber-geek standards. I'm a geek, and proud to say so, but come on. Seriously. Why does the movie have to be exactly like the cartoon. That was 20+ years ago. The times have changed. How lame would a 2009 Transformers movie be if all they did was run around and squabble over energon for an hour and a half? How boring would a GI Joe movie be that had the same stupid plots that the cartoon had, or "knowing is half the battle" type dialogue? These cartoon or comic based movies HAVE to be adapted for the silver screen, otherwise they would be ridiculous.

This isn't actually directed towards anyone in particular, just felt like ranting to the general public.

It's funny when people ask if I ever watched the tv show....yeah a bit but I got about 200 gi Joe comics that I've read over the years....come on now gi Joe was famous got cheesy phrases and bad one liners.. And it by no means had a dramatic story .....big guns hot girls and explosions is what I remember and I'm pretty sure the movie captured that lol @lee777 it's fun playing the bad guy who thinks differently but i'd never knock someone just because they have a different opinion ie dellamorte. <----- SCHMUCK haha
