BOX OFFICE: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Blasts To A Massive $101 Million Worldwide

As expected, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is already scooping up at the box office as the Marvel Studios sequel scored an impressive $101.2 million at the international box office this weekend.

That exceeds tracking data which predicted an $85 million debut and possible $100 million
haul, and this points to good things to come for the movie when it reaches North American theaters next week.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 rolled out in 37 overseas markets, roughly 58% of international territories it's set to be released in. The first instalment was released to $67.4 million outside of North America, while the signs are now pointing to a domestic debut of well over $150 million come May 5th. That's Captain America: Civil War sized numbers, an epic result for the James Gunn helmed release.

I saw it at a midnight screening and was blown away. It richly deserves every penny of profit it makes.
